Ira and Varsha also did not go to college today. Whole afternoon girls tried different dresses and footwear and could not reach on any conclusion. They have almost made it a game. Grandma also joined the fun in commenting and ridiculing different brands and their designs along with girls.
It is around 4:00 PM and the girls are still deciding what to wear. Akash also came down to take a break and is also sitting with Grandpa and Grandma in the hall talking about different things.
Next moment Ira entered into the room along with Varsha who is walking cautiously wearing a heel with a beautiful floral patterned knee-length frock. Varsha is holding the hand of Ira and her steps are a bit shaky. She walked and together with Ira stood in front of Grandma. She looked at everyone and seeing Akash there, lowered her head shyly.
Akash was stunned for a second seeing how beautiful that dress looked at her. She is not an absolute beauty but her face is oval shaped without any blemish on her tanned skin. Other than all this, he felt that she looks adorable with her shy and cute expressions. Her body is pet.i.te due to her food habits and daily routine and this dress look perfect on her.
Ira laughed seeing the expression of Akash and said "Haha. Brother! you just came out from your room otherwise you won't be speechless with just one dress. Sister-in-law is made to wear any type of dress. She is perfect. Oh, I am soooooo jealous." She also made a pitiful expression making Akash irritated and getting a rebuke from him.
Grandma also laughed and said, "My dear Varsha is so cute and lovable." and then she said suggestively "Dear! You can wear whatever you like. Everything looks so good on you."
Varsha smiled and looked at the expression of Grandma and said timidly "But I feel uncomfortable wearing these western dresses especially heels feel like I might fall anytime."
Akash has already come over his surprised expression seeing the loveliness of his wife and then said calmly "How would you feel comfortable when you don't try wearing them for some time?"
"Sister-in-law, you can hold the hands of brother and not leave them whole time during the party. Brother wants you to wear this, so of course, he will help you this much." Ira said laughing and has become her mischevious self again. Aaksh shut up and even Varsha could not help but smile seeing him become speechless. She felt shy and dreamy thinking about holding his hand in public.
Varsha did not know what to say after this. She was also curious and dreadful to what Akash will say now. She was curious for his response but dreadful that his response will show that he detests touching her. She felt like a suffocating feeling is arising from her stomach and looked toward Akash who is also looking toward her. Seeing her expectant expression, he suddenly held back the words he was going to say and revised them a bit.
After a few seconds, opposite to everyone's guess, Akash looked toward Varsha and smiled and said "Of course, I can help you adapt to these dresses. I want you to wear them and who else if not me can help you feel comfortable." He saw the smiling expression of his grandparents and suddenly felt like he is entering some net by himself and corrected himself "It is not like I'm going to make a speech or entertain guests there."
Ira laughed and Akash scolded her "Stop laughing without reason or you will get a beating from me now."
Grandma also smiled seeing their banter and said "How can you talk about beating a young girl? Girls are meant to be treasured and spoiled especially the ones like our Ira and Varsha."
Ira showed her tongue to Akash and Akash muttered: "I will spoil her later but first I want to beat her." Varsha giggled listening to the muttering of Akash and even Grandma could not help but smile seeing Akash and his behaviour today.
Akash looked toward the giggling Varsha and felt captivated by her innocent laugh. He also felt happy that the sad expression of her from yesterday has disappeared from her face. He felt strange from inside but still maintained his calm expression. When Varsha stopped laughing, he said "Now, you can decide on this dress. Okay?"
Listening to the words of Akash, Varsha shows an awkward smile. She liked the fact that he talked too much just now and she could feel the appreciation in his gaze. But she still could not help but feel self-conscious wearing a western dress. She watched pitifully toward Grandpa. Grandpa who has been sitting and looking at the liveliness with his gentle smile could understand the internal conflict of Varsha. He smiled and asked, "What do you say, dear?"
Varsha looked toward Akash apologetically and said in low voice "I want to wear Saree with those flat sandals. Along with jewellery, it looks better than western dresses. Ira has seen it yesternight and she also liked it."
Akash looked toward Ira and found her nodding to him and grandparents. He just got rejected by his wife and felt annoyed and said: "If you don't wish to hear the suggestions, why to ask them?"
Ira argued "Who asked your suggestion? She is showing dresses to Grandma and you just b.u.t.ted in."
Akash feels annoyed that Varsha involves grandparents in everything and wins. But he remembers he made her sad and decided to go along with her decision and make her happy. He shows his irritated expression and said while looking toward his grandparents "You all have really spoiled these two. Even my opinion does not matter anymore."
Grandpa looked toward his annoyed grandson and then toward Grandma, he then said while smiling "Talk about business, I will hear. But our dear Varsha, no one is allowed to bully her. Not even her husband."
Akash showed annoyed expression but it felt strange that he was enjoying all this argument and did not wish to win as well. But he still has to maintain his pride. So, he stood and looked toward Varsha and said in a frustrated tone "Okay, You decide what to wear and take the review of Grandma. I won't involve myself in this anymore. Remember, at 6:00 PM I will bring the car in front and don't be late even a single minute otherwise I will get angry."
Seeing Varsha nodding at him hurriedly, he shook his head and muttered "So much time wasted and still no result." and then he walked toward his room. Ira giggled seeing her brother getting defeated by sister-in-law.
Varsha looked guiltily toward the retreating back of her husband. He asked something to her and despite wis.h.i.+ng to do so, ultimately she could not do it. She nudged Ira to stop laughing and lowered her head. Grandparents also could not help smile seeing the reaction of children especially Akash and Varsha.
Akash climbed the stairs to walk toward his room and he can hear the giggling of Ira behind his back. Although he had to show his annoyance to maintain his pride but seeing Varsha smile made his heart feel on ease. This small thing about his opinion getting rejected does not matter as long as she does not become sad. Unknown to him his annoyed expression turned to a smiling one. While entering his room he wondered whether this is the thing called 'Joy of Losing'.
