"Right. The three of you must be new around here." The teenage boy smiled. "This village has been part of Da Cheng for almost a year."
Mingyue looked at the boy in surprise as she continued to listen to the young boy's explanation of how Eastern Zhou had become a part of Da Cheng.
Yang Yun then recalled hearing news of Eastern Zhou and Qian Rong collaboration to attack Da Cheng. Back then, he did not pay too much attention to the story as he was too focused on rescuing his wife. He spent most of his days to train with the Nanlin Tribe.
In the end, Lu Wei decided to return to Qian Rong and dethroned his brother. He had become the Emperor, and Eastern Zhou was given to Da Cheng.
When Mingyue had regained her memory, Yang Yun had not told her anything about this. He was afraid that his wife would be too agitated and worry about her family.
"You may not know that in two weeks, Da Cheng will extend to Qian Rong as well," the young boy continued. Seeing the confused look on their expression
"Qian Rong?" Mingyue frowned. Her heart jumped as a few thoughts crossed her mind. "Why? Will there be another war?"
"No," the young boy shook his head. "Crown Princess Lingchen and the Emperor of Qian Rong will be married. After this marriage, Qian Rong will be part of Da Cheng as well."
"What?" Mingyue stared at the boy with her mouth agape.
After they got the latest news and development from the teenage boy, Yang Yun hired a carriage, and the three of them headed back to the Capital City.
Mingyue was still in disbelief over the news she heard. She had left Da Cheng for six years, and a lot of things had changed. In the carriage, Mingyue listened to Yang Yun as he continued to tell her what he knew.
"Yang Yun, you're familiar with the Emperor of Qian Rong?" Mingyue asked.
"The Emperor of Qian Rong, he was actually a descendant of Nanlin Tribe. Back then, when I went to their village to train, the Emperor stayed in the village as well. Because we're around the same age, and we were both unfamiliar with our new surroundings, we became close."
Mingyue nodded. She recalled her impression of the young Emperor from years ago. Back then, he was still a prince. When Mingyue saw his profile, she had a good impression on him. Prince Lu Wei was not favored in Qian Rong. He did not have many merits in his profile, but once he was a.s.signed to something, his performance was excellent.
When she met him during the Spring Banquet, she had saved his life after a wild animal attacked him. After spending her time with him for a short while, the prince gave her the impression that he was someone modest and laid-back.
She thought that he was a good man.
"How long until we arrive at the capital?" Mingyue asked.
"If everything goes smoothly, we should arrive in two days," Yang Yun said.
"Two days?" Li Ran, who has been quietly at the corner, was surprised.
Yang Yun looked at him and smiled. He could understand Li Ran's concern. Back in his world, it would take them hours to travel here and there. In G City, the people did not go by horse and carriage. They have cars, trains, and others.
"We will stop by a small town and rest," Yang Yun said. "Tomorrow morning, we will continue our journey."
Mingyue balled her hand into a fist. The thought that they will reach the capital city in two days made her excited. At the same time, she was worried about how her family will react once they meet again. Mingyue flinched when she felt the warmth on her hand. Her gaze went to her hand and saw that Yang Yun held her hand in his. When she looked up, Yang Yun was smiling gently at her.
Her heart gradually felt at ease with his a.s.surance.
"It will be a while before we arrive at the next town," Yang Yun pulled her head to his and let her lean on his shoulder. "Sleep. I'll wake you up when we arrive."
…
Two days later…
As the sun was about to set, an old carriage stopped in front of the Jiang's residence.
Mingyue looked out the small window and felt her heart tightened. During their way back to the residence, Mingyue has been watching the scenery outside the window. It seemed that a lot of things have changed in Da Cheng; however, the front of her parent's house looked the same.
"Are you ready?" Yang Yun asked.
Mingyue looked at her husband and nodded.
Yang Yun walked out of the carriage first and helped Mingyue to come down. He adjusted the cloak on his wife's body before he knocked on the door.
"Who is it?" a voice came from the inside. Before Yang Yun could reply, the door swung open, and an old man walked out. Once the man saw Yang Yun's face, his eyes widened. "Young master! You-you have returned!"
"Butler Xia, are the General and Madame inside?" Yang Yun asked.
The old man nodded furiously. "Yes. Yes. They're inside. They were about to have their dinner." He gave a look over at Yang Yun and sighed with relief upon finding that the young master had returned without any injuries. He turned his head to the person beside Yang Yun.
Once he recognized the woman, the smile on his face gradually disappeared. His eyes widened, and his mouth agape. "You! You!" He stuttered but found that he could not speak her name carefully.
The butler felt dizzy. He almost felt as if he was dreaming. He had served the Jiang's family for years watched the Young Miss grew up. Just like the others, he was sad upon hearing that the miss had gone missing.
Mingyue put her finger on her lips.
The butler swiftly pressed his lips into a thin line and nodded. He quickly understood what she wanted to say.
