"So Pace let's start with you. Why were you in the engine room?"

Once everyone was seated the Commander instantly started the interrogation. His s.h.i.+p had become a circus. A person was hurt and worst of all, he felt not in control.

"Couple of days ago kara b.u.mped into me. She looked scared. I stopped her from running off, thinking it was something about the engines...."

Pace stolen a look at Lila sitting across from him. Though it was suppose to be inconspicuous it was pick up by everyone in the room.

"She said she was having a hard time with her friend. That her friend was becoming someone she didn't even know anymore. I suggested she finish the work herself and handle the problem with her friend after. Even though she nodded her head yes, I could tell from her eyes that she still wanted to work with her friend." Pace pointed his chin towards Lila's way.

Lila figured kara planned this all out. She just didn't know if this 'Pace' guy is a part of it.

The commander jester for him to continue.

"Yesterday, I went to inquire about the engines and saw no one there. So I went to look for Kara. When I saw her, I told her about the empty engine room. I wanted to asked some question on the engines. So when we got there we started going over the diagnostic tests. That's when we notice someone tampered with the equipment. Kara was furious. She said Lila had been making mistakes after mistakes..."

"That's a lie! How could I have been making mistakes when I'm the one fixing the engines!"

Lila shout out at Pace. she might not know who this Pace was but she now knew he was working with Kara.

"Sit down!" the Commander's voice wasn't loud, yet it made sweat form on Lila's back.

Lila sat back down in her seat. Aware that she was getting on the Commander's bad side.

Pace smirk at Lila's out burst. He knew once he call in to question her work ethics, like any genius they would be confrontational.

"Continue on, Pace."

"Yes, sir." Clearing his throat. Pace adjusted his seating to face the Commander.

"After we had found the mistakes. Kara let it be known that Lila was once a good friend who she trusted with her whole life. But Lila's att.i.tude towards her changed, when Kara received her ticket. She wanted to make amends. I once again suggested she pull Lila off the a.s.signment before she does something that puts everyones lives at risk. She agreed. Kara said she would speak with Lila the next day, which is today."

Pace motion for a gla.s.s of water. After seeing him drink a third of the gla.s.s the commander wanted to get to the main point already.

"So why did you come to the engine room this afternoon."

"I found a letter on my room door from Kara."

Pace pulled out a piece of paper that looked like it was stuffed inside his pocket.

Secretary Jun took the piece of paper, smoothed it out and pa.s.sed it to the Commander.

On the the paper the Commander found Kara's rushed hand writing explaining how she found Lila tempering with the engines and how she felt she let the everyone down. And in the wake of Pace not being able to find her. He was to Find the Commander for help. Meaning that Kara felt her life was being threaten.

The Commander gave to paper back to Secretary Jun so he can have Lila review it.

Once Lila read the letter she felt hot and cold at the same time. She knew this didn't look good for her. Kara was once again five steps a head of her.

"So it was kara who taught you how to fix the problem with the engines just now?"

"Yes, yesterday when we were in the engine room together. When Kara saw the changes Lila made, I saw how she fixed them. That's why today I knew when I heard the alarms go off, that she" Pace pointed a finger straight at Lila's chest, " did indeed plan to sabotage the engines."

Faced with Pace's accusations against Lila. The room went quiet. All the soldiers knew this was a serious. If found guilty this girl's sentence would not be light. As everyone in the room was looking at the Commander, the door open.

"Sir, Miss Kara is awake. " One of the medics who transported Kara to sickbay. Came back with the news.

"What is her condition?"

"She lost a lot of blood but the doctor was able to stabilize her and give her a blood transfusion. She woke up a few moments ago. She's able to talk."

"Bring her here."

"Yes, sir." The medic left again to get Kara.

The Commander turned toward a soldier, "Bring Mr. Pace back to his room. He's not allowed to leave until I give the order."

"Yes, sir."

Pace and the soldier left under the eyes of everyone in the room. Leaving Lila by herself at the table.

"So, Miss Lila care to explain your side of the story?"
