"Truly I am sorry. Please forgive me." He didn't know what came over him.

Why did I say those things?

"Ailwin, those same words you just spoken to me. How many people do you think would shout out those words to me when they find out the same information you have. Or how many would demand I heal all their trees… I was only able to heal one, and it took near all my energy from me. My father has over 50 acres of farming at our main household, and almost half of that land has sick trees…."

Ailwin thought about what he had asked her and realized how stupid and selfish he was being with those statements.

"I wasn't thinking, my emotions got the best of me. I'm sorry. Please, continue." He sat down rejoining her on the couch before asking her some question.

"Can I ask how did you cured the tree?"

Mikaela didn't feel like sharing anything further, but as she already told him most of the important parts already she knew if she stop here, it will just drive a wedge in between them.

"The method I use, can't be use or taught to others. I won't explain any further just know that no one would be able to do it except me and it will drive me to my grave if I try to heal every single tree one by one."

"Okay...do you know what is causing the trees to become sick?" Ailwin knew he f.u.c.k up. It was awkward between them now,the trust in their relations.h.i.+p was still fragile for the way he acted.

"No… but I've been researching it. Unfortunately, it has come to a stand still as I can't get much samples from sick honey trees."

"That's why you went into Lord Tasar's farm."

"En."

The room drown in silence as everyone was in their own thoughts.

Finally Ailwin spoke. Find authorized novels in Webnovel, faster updates, better experience,Please click for visiting.

"The King is sending the Shadow Wolves to the border to protect some agriculturists from the conflict over there."

"Does the royal family have their own honey trees…?" Mika though about breaking in the imperial palace to get some samples from there. It would be dangerous, but she really didn't have much choice.

Since coming to the imperial city, there aren't many clans that havehousholds located near here and none of them have farm land like the Amara clan.

"No, not that I know of."

"Did he send agriculturists to the Steppes…?" Mika asked.

"No, he didn't. This problem has been going on for a long time. He never showed one care into the issue, he always let the clan leaders discuss for solutions."

"How long has this problem been going on?" Mikaela knew from Drakonas that the problem started way back when a.n.a.lise was still live.

"Mmm, I heard about it when I was still studying here as a first year."

"Me too." Braeden added in.

Mikaela thought about the timeline, and scrunched up her eyebrows.

"You didn't hear anything about it until then…?"

"No, that's when it started." Braeden answered.

"The first case of the honey trees sickness was in a small city just outside of the eastern border," Ailwin spoke, enlightening Mika on the honey tree decline timeline. "at the time it cause a big commotion."

Mika was confused. Ailwin and Braeden are saying this problem only popped up several centuries after a.n.a.lise died, while Drakonas said it was happening before a.n.a.lise died. If what both of them are saying is true then someone has been hiding what has been going on with the trees for a long time….and that person has to be one of  the first generation Fae.

Only they would have been around long enough to hide the situation from the public.

Mikaela felt her palms getting sweaty.

The power this person has to be immense to be able to hide something so big for so long.

...but why?... d.a.m.n it! I need more information.

Ailwin and Braeden watched as Mikaela's face changed from one emotion to the other.

"Mikaela…"

"Hm?"

"What are you thinking?"

What I'm thinking about is that there is a hidden enemy out there that my mother and I had no idea about.

"...I'm just frustrated because I need more answers to my questions…"

"Maybe I can get you those answers…" Ailwin looked down at Mikaela's beautiful face.

"How?"

"I won't be able to ignore the King's order to send my men to the southwest to solve the conflict, and you need more samples of the honey trees." Understanding his plan, Mika nodded her head.

"Can you get them to me without anyone knowing…"

"I believe it's possible."

For the next couple of hours the three of them sat planning out the deliveries of samples to Mikaela from the Southwest.

Having travelled all day and then talk throughout the night, Braeden left to get some food before him and Ailwin needed to leave again for the Shadow Wolves compound.

"Mika," Ailwin pulled Mikaela into his arms, "I really am sorry, I don't know why I said those thing to you…"

"You don't?" Mikaela didn't believe it. Thought she hasn't known him for long, she knew he wasn't the type of person to let hurtful words come out of his mouth without a reason.

Ailwin though about this for a few minutes before responding to her inquiry.

"Mika, I was too young when the news first broken about the trees being sick. I didn't get to see the horrible scenes first hand at the eastern border, but I got to see them this time at the Steppes. The look in their eyes and paranoia that quickly resulted in them killing each other, is not something I want to see my citizens resorting to again…."

"….."

"I'm sorry, please don't be mad."

Mika looked into his sorry eyes and gave up.

"Fine...but it will cost you."

"What?"

"I'm keeping the silence spell on your General."

"Okay" Ailwin quickly sold out his friend for forgiveness from his fiancee.
