"Governor Kelim, I understand…" Ailwin blew out a breath.

"No, you don't! I've had to watch my friends and family suffer right before my eyes while they begged me to save them! I could do nothing! I've worked as Governor of this city for over a hundred years! This was a peaceful city until those Bizana people showed up, and now you are telling me that you bought more of those people here!" Kelim could no longer contain his rage and grief.

The only thing Ailwin could do was sit there and take in every word Kelim was shouting at him until he finally ran out of steam.

"Governor Kelim, please let me continue. We originally weren't here to help with the situation here...but that doesn't mean we will leave you and the citizens of this city to die. Please, believe me when I say that I will do everything in my power to help you."

Governor Kelim was planning to closed his ears to whatever excuses Ailwin was going to tell until he heard the him say he would help the citizens of this city.

"How are you planning to help?"

"First, I need my men to leave this city and set up camp somewhere outside-"

"What! You just said you will help the people of this city!"

"I will! However, I cannot have my men falling ill from whatever is making the citizens here sick. It will do neither one of us any good. It will just be more sick people to cure. If my men stay out of the city, they might be able to locate where this plague originate from..."

Seeing the reasoning in Ailwin's words, Kelim agreed to his suggestion. However, he demanded that the ones who left the s.h.i.+p already can't be allowed to leave; due to the infection possibly spreading. This included Ailwin and Braeden.

Ailwin agreed while thanking the G.o.ds he didn't have all his men exit the s.h.i.+p with him.

After calming the governor's emotions down, Ailwin ask to see any of the surviving Bizana clan members.

"There is only one left and he is barely able to stay wake to answer your questions. I don't think you should see him, it will be a waste of your time." Find authorized novels in Webnovel, faster updates, better experience,Please click for visiting.

"To have to fix this problem we need to face it head on. I need to information, much more than you can give me. I need to know where they went and what happened to those people they sent into the canyons and forest." Ailwin stared into the Kelim's eyes. The Governor didn't know what made him believe Ailwin, but he felt Ailwin would be able to save this city.

"Okay… I'll have one on my advisors see if the man is still alive…"

While Kelim went off to consul with his advisors, Ailwin and Braeden were left alone in the office. The minute the door closed behind Kelim's tall withered frame, Braeden looked intently at Ailwin.

"Are you really thinking about staying here… Do you actually think you can cure these people?" Braeden had stay quiet during the rest of the conversation to not upset the Governor any further, but he couldn't contain his apprehensiveness any longer.

"No." ailwin was honest when answering his friend's question.

"Then why are we staying! We'll just end up in the same situation as these people. The King obvious knows what is going on here, but has no plans of helping them… You think you can!?" Braeden doesn't want to see himself dying from a plague. Head chop off from an enemy's ax, sure. Stabbed in the gut, yup. Even blown to smithereens by lazar cannons, absolutely. Yet dying bald, toothless and sickly, was just wrong.

"Braeden, that's it why we must help them… Yes, the King knows what is going on here, but he is still unwilling to handle it in his usually ways…" Ailwin stressed. They both knew the King would show no remorse to blowing up this city just to keep the plague from spreading, let alone his secrets.

"You remember what he did at the Eastern border? Why do you think he wouldn't do it this time?"

"I don't know..."

"It's just like what Governor Kelim said, they were searching for something. There is something here he wants and he is afraid of destroying it… That is the only possible answer for why he hasn't taken action yet, and instead, sends us."

"You think those agriculturists on our carriers aren't agriculturists….?"

Ailwin and Braeden shared a look. They wouldn't put it pa.s.s the King to have them come here under false pretenses.

"Then what is your plan? We can't stay here and risk the rest of our men getting sick but we also can't leave the King's people with our soldiers."

"I know… That why it's a good thing we left Kaze on the other carrier."
