I rested my back against the rock, peering over the ledge. The gentle winds that whipped around me seemed more restless than normal and even though I wasn't one of those pesky witches, I knew there was a storm brewing.
A storm that wasn't because of weather.
A storm caused by a witch.
I gagged in disgust, remembering that the woman I was sure was my mate, Nava, had picked a scrawny ugly-a.s.s looking witch rather than me. I knew she was into brute men and with my muscle and my gentleman att.i.tude, I could have won the woman over.
But she didn't even give me a chance...
She gave that f.u.c.king witch everything and ended up only getting captured by Andrew again.
My claws lengthened into my palm, cutting into it easily since I was gripping my fingers into a tight fist. The pain was bearly noticeable and I knew that I wouldn't feel a thing since I had quick healing powers.
Now that I didn't have to hide my ident.i.ty from humans, my horns were unsheathed and curling with pure anger of being rejected. No woman has rejected me as Navalina has.
But I knew that they were going to be together.
I felt it in the very wind that swept my hair back.
The witches were traveling back with Nava now, I could hear the buzzing of the witches from beneath me scramble to ready things for their arrival. I hear Xenon, known as Faye, barking orders at the pathetic mages.
Their magic flew around like fireworks and the sight disgusted me even further.
I've always hated witches...
They're horrifying creatures that are weak and vulnerable. If you trapped one or poisoned them, they are just as defenseless as the humans I despise.
They don't even have healing abilities!
They are just as weak and gross as a human.
"Jolly hoo!" I heard a woman scream from bellow making me peer down and see my sister, Pairs, grinning at me with a deadly smile.
"What?" I growl at her, the demoness exposed what we were and humiliated me in front of Nava and the disgusting pest Levi. I would rather frolic with a witch than be near the devil herself.
"I am ordering you down here now! We must be ready to defend the borders if needed." Pairs barks at me, trying to use her compulsion, her demonic power. I narrowed my eyes at her, suddenly hating her existence as much as the chaotic magic bursting within the air.

"Get away, demoness. I am in no mood for your antics. Also, it is not our duty to protect these pesky witches and mages. If they cannot protect themselves, they do not deserve to be considered faye." I snarl when she frowned up at me, the sight looking ever so pleasant on my sister's face.
Before I realized what happened, someone behind me slammed their foot and caused me to tumble downwards towards the ground. My claws lengthened as I grabbed the rock beside me, hoisting myself up so I could see the witch who was brave enough to try and hurt a demon of my status.
"Say that again about my coven and you'll see how 'weak' we can be." The leader of the coven, High Priestess Dawn, air quoted when teleporting back to ground level and helping calm the mages who were growing crazy.
I cursed her name, dropping down to the ground once I was in a position of dropping down safely. My claws broke a little from the sudden fall and I knew that the witch would get some revenge but I could curse her since she'd be able to brush it away with a laugh.
b.a.s.t.a.r.d, witch.
"I should have just done that if it got you down." Pairs chuckle at my disdain face when I forced my claws to return underneath my fingernails. I narrowed my eyes at her, hating she bared the demoness mark that every demon held.
She was not worthy of such a mark for a foolish demon she was.
"I am not helping them either way. Must you always be so bothersome?" I question her with an irritable tone making her beam at me and speed on my other side.
"Come, brother. Don't be so rude, there is a new girl coming and I've heard she's part witch." Unlike me, Pairs loved witches and wished to be one of them even when our kind despised their kind. It was surprising that witches loved Pairs, but not surprising when they screeched at the sight of me.
"What would our mother say if she saw us here? And with you so excited to see a part witch girl. We don't even know of her other parts." I point out to her as she huffed and brushed her hand over her should while walking away.
"Must you be a Debby Downer? Come, brother. Who cares what mother thinks? She's not here to boss us around now! Let's have fun before they find us!" Pairs chirped cheerfully when my stomach grew upset, not at the thought but at a strange feeling building up there.
"Mother and the others will find us in due time. We can't run from the kingdom." I remind her, reluctantly following her so we could continue this mindless argument. The uncomfortable pit in my stomach growing every moment we walked.
What in the world was this feeling...?
"You are correct." Pairs said spinning on her heel and grinning at me darkly. "You cannot but here you are running from them." She delightfully points out to me, spinning on her heel again and skipping towards the commotion.
"I-I am not!" I bark angrily, marching after her quicker form when s.n.a.t.c.hing her arm roughly. "You don't even realize what it is you've done. They will find us and punish us for leaving. It is your fault we are here and I-"
"Oh shut up, brother. At any point we've been gone, you could have contacted them and have us taken back to the capital. But here we are." She s.n.a.t.c.hed her arm from my grip and spun around with an easy smile. "What? Are you scared of what they will say about you? How the prince of the demons was rejected by a wolf s.h.i.+fter?" She taunted dangerously making me twitch in anger.
I was about to s.h.i.+ft when we heard the loud and worried screeches of the witches. A sharp pain ran through my chest making me double back and sag against a tree. Pairs cried in shock, reaching for my arm when I pushed her away and rubbed my chest painfully.
What the h.e.l.l was happening to me...?
"Hurry! Nava and Levi will be treated by the interns. Khole will be treated by my mother and I!" Faye yells, the name Khole sounding unfamiliar but dreadful in my mind.
I shoved past Pairs, tracking this Khole and wondering what it was that made my entire body throb in pain and need. It was as if my demon had taken over my body and it was tracking down what it wanted.
This Khole...
Who was the woman?
"Dylan... Dylan!" Pairs caught my arm, watching me with worried orange eyes. "What's wrong? Wh-"
"My mate." My demon admits to her, my orange eyes revealing that it was he who was controlling my movements. I was beyond shocked at the words that left my mouth just as wide as Pairs's mouth.
My feet moved quicker than my thoughts before I smelt the revolting scent of her, the scent was horrid and disgusting but that only made my demon want her more. Which I didn't understand since she was gross and smelly.
I wanted a clean and good scented mate.
Not what I was smelling.
Some of the witches and wolves around me hissed and snarled at my presence, not liking that I've stormed into the coven as if I owned the d.a.m.n place. If I truly wanted to, it'd be mine.
But that is not for my intrusion, I am here for the smelly girl.
I brushed past several lingering people, baring my teeth at the weak and buffing my shoulders for the strong. The challenge I was presenting dared for them to come and battle me, I truly wanted them to stop me from seeing this smelly girl.
Maybe my demon would snap out of focus and realize that nothing in the coven was mine.
Nothing.
But my demon ignored my thoughts, shoving a door and making two women jump at the intrusion. The wolf from before, Zavier, bared his teeth at me as I snarled at him low within my throat.
"Great. Your sister can't seem to make you come and now we can't seem to make you stay away." Dawn grumbled, clearly annoyed with my presence as I ignored her and dropped down on the ground beside Faye.
The horrid smell coming from the small girl who was limp against the ground. Her small blond curls sprayed around her head as her cherry lips looking b.l.o.o.d.y and cut. There was a deep wound on her head, revealing the matted deep red color in her blond hair.
My mate's clothes were tattered and ripped up from G.o.d knows who what. Several scars and scratches were clearly seen from underneath the clothes, the thin fabric making her s.h.i.+ver.
I quickly threw off my jacket, lifting her small form against me while putting the oversized coat on her. Her stench was strong but my demon did not care.
He cared for her wellbeing.
"This is unexpected." Dawn mumbles to herself when Faye placed a hand on my shoulder making me snarl at her dangerously. Zavier roared in anger as she held her hand out to him and smiled at me.
Though it was strained and concerned, it seemed genuine causing my demon to relax a bit.
"Dylan. We need to see her injuries. The one inflicted to her heard may cause her to lose her eyesight. I need you to relax and let us look over her." Faye whispered softly as my demon growled under his breath and held her closer. "Please, Dylan... I need t-"
Before we realized what happened, an ear-piercing scream rang through the room.
