The sentient races of this world, deciding to no longer sit back and watch their people die, prayed to the G.o.ds to give them power.
The first G.o.d, a beautiful G.o.ddess of darkness, merely snorted at their selfish request before creating more and more grimm, in hope of stomping out every last being alive.
The second G.o.d, a handsome G.o.d of light and husband to the G.o.ddess of darkness, took an interest in these beings. Doing as any benevolent G.o.d would, he granted their request, bequeathing magnificent powers upon four young maidens.
The G.o.d knew his choice would decide the fate of many. So, in an attempt to find the right host, the G.o.d willingly reincarnated into the form of an old man in order to choose for himself.
Everyday, the old man would go out and seek maidens with kind and benevolent hearts yet always turned up empty-handed.
After years and years of searching, four sister's appeared before him. The old G.o.d merely glanced at the sisters before ignoring them while staring into s.p.a.ce.
The sisters felt awkward because of his actions but didn't leave and continued to watch the old man.
Time went by until one of the sisters couldn't stand it. The one who looked to be the oldest had a head of neatly styled white hair while wearing a neat and fitting blue and white gown. She walked up to the old man and gave him the advice of meditating.
When the old man asked her why, the eldest sister replied, "Instead of sitting around doing nothing, I think you should meditate on your past and reflect on how you've lived. And to remember the things that made you happy."
Though her tone was cold, the old G.o.d could feel her care and concern. Nodding, he closed his eyes and waited for the next sister.
The second sister, had a head of long green hair that was held together by a crown of flowers accompanied by a beautiful green dress. Unlike her sister, she left for a short while before coming back with a bountiful harvest of fruits and vegetables. She spent a short while planting them around the old man's house.
After she was done, she looked towards the old man with a smile and said, "There! Now if you get bored and there's no one to talk to, you have a whole garden to keep you company."
The G.o.d smiled at the girl before continuing to mediatate. The third sister, wearing black shorts and a white s.h.i.+rt that oddly complimented her long, fiery red hair, walked over to the old man and sat besides him.
After talking and joking around for awhile, the sister looked gentle at the old man and said, "Once in awhile, you should walk around the forest, take a deep breath in and embrace the world. Both the negative and positive."
As if they agreed about it before hand, the last sister, who looked to wear a plain orange dress and had short orange hair, sat beside her sister and said, "And to be thankful for what you have. I'm sure there was something that you were glad to have kept, held or created."
The old G.o.d quietly thought back on each of their words and actions, and smiled. He looked at the departing backs of the four sisters and granted them each the power of the seasons.
Each season granted immense power that were slowly governed by the deepest wish of the hosts heart. They had control over all of the elements yet had the most control over the one the host was most compatible with.
The first sister, the maiden of winter, ruled over ice and snow. The second sister, the maiden of spring, controlled the plants and earth. The third sister, the maiden of summer, commanded fire and heat. Lastly, the forth sister, the maiden of fall, guided the winds and lightning.
As time past, the maidens grew stronger and stronger. They, however, realised that they were not enough to save everyone.
Thus, without hesitation, the four maidens combined their powers and granted all sentient life with power, which came to be known as a 'Semblance'.
A semblance, was the power buried deep inside of a person that was fueled by a person's aura, the literal life-force that flowed through every living thing. People quickly found out about their newly gained powers and began fighting back the grimm.
However, that's when everything began to change.
All sentient life ended up grouping together in groups they called 'Humanity' and 'Faunus'. Humanity was filled with people the G.o.d of light based on his wife and himself while the Faunus were made to take on the traits of animals while still being made in there shape.
Humanity was easily corrupted by the G.o.ddess of darkness, Salem, as she deceived them to get back at the G.o.d of light for betraying her. Left with no other choice, the G.o.d of light, Ozma, battled his once loving wife.
Heartbroken, Salem cut Ozma right through his heart. Yet instead of death, Ozma awoke in the body of a young man. Horrified, the once old G.o.d realised that he had lost his original body and was cursed to forever walk the world in a different body each time he died.
Thousands of years went by, Salem and Ozma continued their never ending battle. Sometimes, the maidens would show up in different forms but always ended up dying to the collateral of the 2 G.o.ds battling.
Suddenly, Ozma noticed something very disturbing. His G.o.dly powers… had begun to weaken. He didn't know when it had started but with each incarnation, his power kept getting weaker and weaker.
This allowed Salem the chance to push her forces to capture more and more land. And before anyone realised, half the world of remnant became a lifeless wasteland known as the 'Shadow lands'.
Running out of options, Ozma used as much G.o.dly power he could muster and created a new power. The power of the silver-eyed warriors. People born with this power were natural born fighters with kind hearts, who's eyes had the power to petrify, paralyze and vaporize the grimm.
Finally, the world had balance and peace finally arrived.
However, this peace was short lived. No one knew when it had started but humanity began to think themselves the superior of the 2 'races'. Corrupt humans started kidnapping, raping and pillaging faunus villages in an attempt to 'rid the world of savage beasts'.
The faunus attempted to use peace and words to come to a compromise but their words fell on deaf ears.
Ozma began lamenting the fact that humanity had abused the power he gave them. His despair quickly turned into anger as he found out that Salem had been leaking information about how humanity was modeled after the G.o.ds and the existence of the maidens.
In a fit of blind fury, Ozma had actually challenged Salem to a fight. The result was to be expected as Salem had easily finished him off. However, when she turned her back, Ozma had used the last of his life to forcefully plunge a small black dagger into her back.
Howling in pain, Salem quickly pulled the dagger out from her back, only to find it quickly decaying before completely vanis.h.i.+ng. And just like the dagger, her physical form began to decay, leaving her deathly pale with her veins visible through her skin while her G.o.dly power had all but vanished.
Due to the fact she was immortal, Salem couldn't die nor could she be killed. However, the dagger Ozma used was the G.o.dly energy he managed to collect over 10 lifetimes. He had forged a dagger that forcefully discipitated G.o.dly energy.
The result may have made him happy but the consequence of his actions had far out weighed the reward. Driven completely insane by the man she once loved, she became obsessed with Ozma.
She order her grimm to kill everything in their path and to bring Ozma to her while she continued to spread deceit and fear amoung the 2 races.
Everyday was h.e.l.l… until they arrived. The first hunters and huntresses. People whose heart were unnaturally strong and filled with kindness. Using their power, the hunters and huntresses went around the world, spreading their kindness and saving those in need of rescue.
Ozma finally realised what he must do. Using as much power as his current form could muster, Ozma created a giant academy where he gathered skilled and battle-hardened hunters and huntresses to teach the next generation, all while recuperating his declining powers.
Lifetimes pa.s.sed by as the war between Salem and Ozma, now formally known as Ozpin, came to a stand still. Both sides no longer pushed to conquer land but rather, stayed and watched, waiting to see what the opposite sides next move was.
What both G.o.ds failed to realise was that a third force had started to surface and was about to give the world a rude awakening, one that was far overdue.
