Fairy Tail - Rise Of Rune Knight 5 Chapter 5 Five Years Later

A five year old kid with crimson red hair was running around an oval clearing with a short old man and another boy around his age looking at the running boy.

After reaching the finish line, the old man arrived by the boy's side and said," Daven, it seems you could really learn the new magic. "

On hearing the tired red haired boy jumped around excited at finally able to learn magic.

It had been a few months since he started bugging his parents to teach him magic but they were reluctant to do so since he was too young.

But in the end they yielded yo his desire and gave him a goal. When he had reached the goal he would be allowed to start training in his magics.

As for what was the goal his parents set for Daven, it was running five laps around an oval clearing without stopping for a single second in his sprinting.

It was too much to ask for from a five year old kid but Daven was determined and since he got a ray of hope he wanted to grab the chance.

He persisted for six months and today, he was able to achieve his goal and had finally taken his first step towards the beginning of his own Legend.

He wanted to start the training as soon as possible but Makarov next words put out his vigrous flames .

" But we will be starting it tomorrow. " he Said

" What but you said if I completed the goal then you will teach me Magic. " Dave argued in his childish high pitch voice not willing to let go of his chance so easily.

" Indeed I did say that but I never told you that I will start teaching you as soon as you do it. " Makarov countered. And young Daven had no way to counter the old fox in front of him.

Since he couldn't outsmart the old man he tried to use his childishness and Trump card to get his request.

" But that's cheating. How could you do something like this to me. I will tell mother that you are teaching me how to cheat?" Daven told Makarov pointedly

This scared the old man. " What? How dare you accuse me of this? I did no such thing. " Makarov tried to counter him.

" And how are you gonna prove that? Mom's gonna believe in me more than she believe in you. She had warned you many times not to play tricks with me.

And Dad says that Mom is quick to anger in her current state. She wouldn't even wait to hear the defense and would act immediately. " Dave said with a triumphant look.

Makarov looked at the brat with helpless look and tried to come up with a counter," I ….. you…. Ahhh…" but couldn't find any.

Then his eyes fell on his grandson by the side.

" I have Laxus who will help me clarify it and then nothing would happen to me. " Makarov said happy that he was able to defeat a five year old kid in a debate.

This time it was Daven's turn to be quiet. He forgot about the other Dreyar who was by their side in his joy of reaching his goal.

His eyes were on the seven year old blonde Dreyar who was standing at the edge of the clearing. He knew his chance of triumph laid on the fact that whether he could convince Laxus to join his side.

Daven ignored the protesting tired body and reached Laxus and talked something with him. Except for the soft whispers Makarov didn't hear anything.

If he wanted to he could easily hear what they talked about but just for the fun of it, he didn't bother to do so.

In the end of their talk, they both shook hands as of they reached a deal and Daven even higher Laxus in joy.

This sent the sensor of woman's wrath buzzing on his head and the duo revealed the news that could cause his Doom.

" Laxus, Grandpa is teaching us how to like and trick others isn't he?"

" Yeah. He makes us sneak away some of your mom's cookies and make us steal them for him. He even took us to the foot of Mt. Hakobe. " Laxus said while he was smirking with Daven.

" You two fiends. She would never believe you. " Makarov thundered while shaking in fear from his daughter's wrath.

" Is that so? Do you wanna bet?" Daven smirked or tried to smirk.

" You want to bet with me about this." Makarov asked.

When he said that their eyes twinkled even more and Laxus said," You even taught us gambling. And Aunt says gambling is bad. You are making us bad boys Gramps. "

" Yeah, I don't know how mom will react when she knows about all this." Daven said joyously.

Makarov just lowered his head in defeat and said gloomy," I will start teaching you today but after you rest and had your lunch. You cannot train if you are already tired isn't it ."

This sentence cannot be over turned and they accepted.

"Just you wait, Laxus. When I learn my new magic tricks you will not be able to sneak on me and knock me down. " Daven challenged.

" Is that so? I have learned two thunder spells. And how many have you learned, Daven?"

He looked at his best friend with a haughty look and then said," I remember zero. It seems I am better than you "

"Ahhhh" Daven shouted," just you wait. Even if I know less magic spells than you, I will still be stronger."

"Is that so?" His face was even more gloating than earlier.

This time Daven doesn't say anything and jumped at Laxus who moved away in time.

And the case between two best friends began.

Makarov saw their play and just smiled softly.

Makarov saw this scene and thought,'Yes, this is why I decided to be a mage. To protect the smile of my children. It is good that I brought Laxus here.

Ivan has become more and more isolated over time. I don't know what is going on. After his mother pa.s.sed away he had become even more distant.

With Daven, Laxus could at least enjoy the joy of childhood.

As my grandson, he is always separate from the crowd and is put on a pedestal but only Daven has managed to keep the child in him awake.'

But his eyes become serious thinking about something.

" The dark clouds are getting more and more closer. The unrest around Fiore might be the start of true chaos. These kids will have to be taught well so they can survive that storm." Makarov said to himself.

And he started to walk back towards the Donovan house.
