Roughly two minutes later, Hua Yan wore a smile as she hopped over. “Uncle, Aunty Nanny says that she’s not angry with me, and she has forgiven me. Furthermore, she told me to express her grat.i.tude on her behalf.”

Squatting down, Su Tao picked Hua Yan up and placed her on his shoulder with a smile, Su Tao replied, “You’re the best. Let’s go look for your mother.”

Yan Jing was cooking today. When she saw Su Tao bringing Hua Yan over, she rolled her eyes at the two of them. “Look at how crazy the two of you are.”

Sweeping a glance at the kitchen, Su Tao saw a salted baked chicken before he tore the drumstick and handed it to Hua Yan, who was on his shoulder. Hua Yan happily, immediately, took a bite and smiled. “It’s delicious!”

“That’s a bad habit! If the two of you dare to eat sneakily again, see if I don’t smack the two of you with the wok!” Yan Jing feigned anger and waved the wok in her hand.

“Mummy, a wok is meant to be used to cook, so how can it be used to smack people?” Hua Yan chuckled.

Hearing those words, Su Tao also laughed, “Mummy was confused from cooking. Let us not talk to her!”

But when he saw Yan Jing’s expression, Su Tao immediately ran out of the kitchen with Hua Yan and shouted, “Here comes the train!”

“At least you’re smart to leave. Otherwise, see how I’ll deal with the two of you!”

Yan Jing suddenly caught onto a charred scent and she realised that she was distracted from bickering with Su Tao and her daughter, neglecting the food. She immediately panicked and lowered the fire before seeing that the julienned potato had turned black with a charred smell and blamed herself, “It’s really burnt.”

But soon after, her brows loosened up. A smile rose on her lips when she recalled how Su Tao played with her daughter earlier; it was blissful.

Having sweetness in her life was something beyond her expectations a year ago.

She initially thought that she would be living in hatred, until Su Tao appeared and changed her life. She’s still the Venomous Widow in the business field, but privately, she had become a good mother.

It had been a long time since Yan Jing personally cooked, but she still had her foundation and made a few dishes in just an hour or two. In the process, Su Tao and Hua Yan were chased out when they sneaked in a few times to snack on the food.

This wasn’t to enjoy the delicacy, but to enjoy life.

When the food was served on the table, Su Tao smiled. “Beautiful Ms. Yan, thank you for your hospitality.”

Sitting to the side, Hua Yan also mimicked him, “Beautiful mummy, thank you for your hospitality.”

Although Yan Jing felt a sour spiking in her nose, she still remained composed, “You’re welcome, and thank you for the honour.”

After that, she picked a chopstick full of eggplants and placed it in Hua Yan’s bowl.

“What?” Yan Jing replied before she took an eggplant from Hua Yan’s bowl. Indeed, it was tough to swallow.

“You must have treated salt as sugar.” Su Tao smiled.

Wearing a bitter smile, Yan Jing was about to remove all the eggplants from Hua Yan’s bowl.

However, Hua Yan stood up and picked up the eggplant then soaked it in the drink before she carefully took a bite and said, “It’s not that salty anymore after was.h.i.+ng it.”

Seeing that Hua Yan was so sensible, Yan Jing finally couldn’t hold it in anymore. She stood up and ran out.

“What’s wrong with mummy?” Hua Yan was at a loss as she looked at Su Tao.

When he came out, he saw Yan Jing squatting beneath a tree, burying her head in her knees, sobbing.

“Don’t worry about it. I will protect the two of you because the two of you are my weakness.” Su Tao sorted Yan Jing’s messy hair and added, “Let’s go. Hua Yan is still waiting for us inside, let’s not keep her waiting.”
