Jaeun didn't know what took over her. For some reason she had to interrupt their conversation. She knew that the punishments would be laid down, yet her mind acted differently.

Everything piled up in her body had exploded at that moment.

After her brother left the gala with their family driver, she had to stay for the last dance. By using this opportunity, she needed to find potential marriage prospects. Since she was in her last year of university, time was ticking for her. As the Moon family was old school, it was expected that she found someone soon to get married in her mid to late twenties.

However, due to her brother's insane episode during the auction, the heavy feeling in her chest would not disappear. Almost like a knife stabbing her chest. It was clear that Yoona had set him up for this failure. Her blood boiled. Sure, Jaemin was a f.u.c.king a.s.shole but he was from the Moon group. Putting down their family meant messing with her.

Why was he in love with her in the first place? Like every f.u.c.king single guy. Jaeun knew the answer but didn't want to admit to it for that would ruin her pride. As 'best friends' for years, she couldn't deny the traits that made Yoona likable. If it was not for their twisted fate, perhaps they could've been friends.

However, it was like Jihee transmigrated into another person, torturing her for her sins. Even without trying, Yoona was ruining her life.

"Ah Ms. Jaeun Moon, you look absolutely stunning tonight."

She turned her head to see Song Woobin standing handsomely in his suit. Since he was also part of the big four, she knew him pretty well. He was one of the men her family approved of. Although the rumors of his playboy antics were well-known, his status and looks were top-tier.

Before, she had believed he was the perfect man, but after seeing the way Minhyun treated Yoona, she had second thoughts. Would a man like Woobin ever settle down and love her in the same way?

Jealousy riled up in her chest. At the bottom of her heart, she knew that he would never see her as an equal. He saw women as toys, just like the rest of the men in this room.

"Thank you Woobin," she gently said. "You look very handsome as well. The suit fits you perfectly."

"Custom made," he bragged. "It's a special outfit only for the gala."

"Of course. I only expect the best from a man like you." She giggled before cutely c.o.c.king her head. "By the way, do you need anything from me?"

He nodded and bowed. "A dance from the beautiful lady."

"I accept."

To be the first person asked by Song Woobin to dance. It felt quite nice. She could feel some girl's hearts break from the action.

Jaeun smirked. Be jealous.

This was how she should be treated. This was how life should be for a Moon member.

Jaeun confidently walked to the dance floor with her partner by her side. She was finally going to use her dancing skills for proper use. Everyone was going to be impressed and she would take back her spotlight.

With Woobin's hand on her waist, a bit too low for her liking and his hand clasped onto hers, they spun around effortlessly. Due to their elegance, everyone watching was in awe by their talent.

Finally. She was having her spotlight. This was what she deserved. The reason to why she was born was to be loved.

However, her happiness did not last long. From the corner of her eyes, she could see Woobin glancing elsewhere. Why was his attention on someone else other than her? She was supposed to be his partner. Plus, as a beauty, he should be fully dedicated to her at this point, especially after seeing her talents.

When Jaeun followed his gaze, her smile dropped.

Out of all the girls in the room, why did he have to be staring at Yoona? She grit her teeth and every bit of anger erupted in her chest.

"Ouch! What the f.u.c.k?" Woobin let go and shook his hand. He sent her a glare. "Why are crus.h.i.+ng my fingers?"

"Ah," Jaeun replied nervously. f.u.c.k. She messed up. She couldn't let Woobin see her anger. "I-I'm sorry. I didn't realize..."

He rolled his eyes. "You should be more careful. As someone who's only life purpose is to get married, at least try not to make such amateur mistakes. If you were like Chae Minhyun's date i'd understand but as a member of the high-cla.s.s you should've known better."

Again. Why was he bringing up Yoona? Would that girl ever disappear? She would be better off dead at this point.

Jaeun tried not to grit her teeth. A bitter laugh escaped her lips. "I apologize."

He glanced down, grazing his vision near her cleavage. "Since you're pretty you're forgiven."

The compliment would usually make her feel a lot better, especially from someone as attractive as Woobin yet her mood did not waver. Deep inside she knew the reason why.

Chae Minhyun was a million times better than this freak. Now that she was exposed to a different side of him, the Minhyun that took care of the girl he loved. The one that smiled in Yoona's presence. Overtook all compet.i.tion. She couldn't get him off her mind. He was everything anyone could ask for.

Yet, he was Yoona's. She had everything despite being a poor s.l.u.t.

"Thank you!" Jaeun exclaimed. Despite her true feelings, she had to put everything under a mask. Even though Woobin could display his feelings without worry, as a girl she had to keep her image straight. It was her duty.

Once their dance finished, Jaeun began to walk off the dance floor. She needed a drink to calm herself down. However, while she was walking away, she could hear a deep laughter echoing through the air. She immediately found herself drawn to the voice.

To her surprise, Chae Minhyun was smiling brightly with eyes dripping with honey. The dark, brooding image had disappeared replaced with a love struck man.

Jaeun's face turned pale. The rage in her riled up for she knew who caused this.

Suddenly like bullets shooting right in her ear, she could hear Minhyun's words clearly. He had asked Yoona what her feelings were. The feelings between them were getting sorted out and Jaeun had no doubt that the two would become a couple soon.

This was why she interrupted. She couldn't let them get together. With all her power she had to prevent it.

"Mr. Chae Minhyun, please dance with me!"

The moment she spoke those words, she had become the recipient of death. The cold, deadly gaze everyone was scared of landed on her. Suddenly, fear filled her body.

Chae Minhyun was infuriated. Although he did not explicitly say anything, his eyes displayed all his emotions. f.u.c.k. She made a huge mistake.

Yoona watched Jaeun with many thoughts running through her mind. It was clear Jaeun would've realized by now that Minhyun was not interested so why was she trying again? Where had all the pride gone? Even though she didn't want to admit it, a sense of pity filled her heart.

"He's not going to say yes. I suggest that you leave. You interrupted at a bad part," Yoona firmly said.

Jaeun could feel the pity radiating from Yoona. Without herself even realizing, she began to crack her fingers. How dare this b.i.t.c.h give her pity? So now that Yoona was the queen of the night, was she looking down on her?

Everything was disgusting. She couldn't handle the rage.

"Don't you dare look at me like that you s.l.u.t. I don't need your pity."

Every single compa.s.sionate emotion within Yoona disappeared, replaced by disappointment. To think that she actually felt sorry for the girl, how crazy was she? The Moon siblings were vile. They didn't deserve anything from her. How much times did she need to experience this before learning?

Knowing that Minhyun would probably go rampage on Jaeun after her words, Yoona decided to speak up. The reason to why Jaeun came was to prevent her and Minhyun from getting together right? Then Yoona would show her her worst nightmare. Besides, after Minhyun's teasing, she wanted to do this anyways. She had to get him back. It was perfect timing.

"Fine. Then stand there and watch. I don't care," Yoona retorted. She turned to Minhyun with a smile on her face. Just seeing him made her anger was away.

"Minhyun," she began. Although her heart was beating rapidly, she continued to stay strong. "You wanted to know whether or not I liked you back right? Then i'll show you through my actions."

Minhyun c.o.c.ked his head. "What do you me"

Before he could finish his sentence, a pair of lips overtook his. At first, he was surprised by Yoona's bold actions but once a few seconds pa.s.sed and everything clicked in, he placed one hand behind her head and the other on her waist, bringing her closer to him. He deepened the kiss, his lips dancing with hers.

Longing. Love. Desperation. Everything was poured into their physical affections.

Now this was long overdue. And it was absolutely perfect.
