Kael Cor: A Vampire's Awakening Chapter 318 Journey Xi : Strength, The Culprit, Next Steps

Soren and I ran across the barren land of Transylvania, raising dust and stones in our wake as we made our way back towards Jakande. I was running also, rather than run on him, I chose to let my own two feet do the work as I pushed them to the limits and ran with as much freedom as I could muster at the moment.

It was a fun experience, but if not for anything but the fact that I was now a whole lot more stronger than I was before. Turning into a dragon probably left behind some gifts and advantages for my normal body, and as I ran towards Jakande, Emrys rested himself on my shoulder as he gave lessons on the changes I've just experienced.

But before I could ponder too much on those changes, there quite a few other things I had to lay attention to. Ever since my awakening, my system had changed from just being a skill based system, to a level up system. Though I have not experienced the sensation of leveling up, I would say that was mostly my fault in the sense that I've been ignoring my potential to getting stronger. But leveling up was not something I could do right now, I had to wait until I've gotten out of Transylvania or at the very least after I've dealt with the village of Jakande.

Also one other thing that I had to pay attention to, was the fact that my main skills were all pa.s.sives, though I could use those pa.s.sive skills in an active way, there were still quite a lot of them for me too keep track of. So I would be utilizing a skill I've not had the chance to use before, and that was the skill that allowed me to combine other skills into something new.
So to as I ran I combined the skills, though I was going to focus mostly on my ma.s.sive skills, they were just hanging in the background, making me stronger. And I believed combining them ought to make them stronger or at the very least give me a balanced effect than before.

I had a skill called royal authority, ever since I became a dragon king it has appeared, and I don't quite know what it goes, but I think it sort of makes me King like. People sensitive to energy would be able to notice that I had royalty in my veins so they would be showing the proper amount of respect should the situation call for it…..or I might be totally wrong. But I was going to combine royal authority with a skill I've had quite a significant amount of use for, and that was my Aura manipulation.

The next two skills I wanted to combine were my nature lord skill and my soul lord skill. My nature lord had to do with my overpowered senses and the intrinsic connection I had with nature. Its why I'm able to sense certain changes and s.h.i.+fts in the natural order of things, why I came runes that should be other wise impossible for someone of my weaving circle. As for my soul lord skill, by this point it should be obvious, it was the skill that covered every ability with soul energy that I used. A the way down to the way I manipulated it, now combining these two….would bring about a qualitative change to my abilities, so I decided to combine them both, however.

(The skill Soul Lord and Nature Lord can not be combined into a new skill.)

That was terribly surprising, so it seems like there's a limit to the kind of skills capable of being combined. It was quite surprising for me, but I guess I can't always get what I want. Though it really was disappointing but I guess I understood that something's never mix. Nature and soul might share a fundamental connection in some way or another, but they're not under the same domain, or operate under the same rule. Soul and nature both dealt with the principles of life and death, but nature was external in it's applications, and rigid in it's demonstrations. Plus nature was stagnant and only a part of the world it finds itself in.

The soul shares the same characteristics, but it's not stagnant and it's displays are not external. The soul is the truest form of a being of nature, making nature seem like a sh.e.l.l for the soul itself. But the sh.e.l.l is rooted to a particular reality and governed by laws incapable of restricting the soul. They say nature is everywhere, true it is everywhere but the soul can go everywhere, moving constantly, from one life to another, one body to the next, and stream of energy in a circle of reincarnation and rebirth.

So I was not really b.u.mmed out that both skills were unable to be combined, it just means that they're stronger separated than together. With that out of the way I had to focus on something else, most of my skills had changed, and my stats had increased by a significant margin, slowly drawing towards the 1000 mark. I believe that once I reach that mark, I stop being a mortal, I become a demiG.o.d. And though most would say that my journey of power has been a little too fast, and I would agree with them on this, I Sometimes felt it was taking a little too long, plus this was the first time since my awakening that any of my stats increased. Which is to say that as long as Emrys and I kept combining into my huge dragon form, I'll keep getting stronger. It was great, and that's why I had no plans of being away from this dragon any longer, not to mention he gave me a sense of security that even hiking cross country with a G.o.d couldn't give.

But I guess that's to be expected, Emrys is a part of me after all. Plus he was a dragon, and the only reason he looked like a stream lined iguana, is because he prefers his smaller form to his larger form. Plus if what he tells me is true, his larger form is not organic at all, buy rather technological. He didn't tell me more than that, so my mind was left to wander and ponder about what he meant. But will all these skill combinations out of the way, I think it was time to check my stat page.

My one problem now however, is the mission I was given. I was asked to find and eliminate the person or thing responsible for that forest of grotesque monsters where I had found the first essence of divinity. And I did get rid of the dungeons responsible for the creation of the monsters, I still had their cores with me, but apparently they were not the true culprit, but then again who was?
I had no idea who this person is, or where to find them. And I was not really willing to leave Transylvania without finding the answer I needed. It would mean that I had come here for nothing, and though I currently had a scheme that's bound to make my gains in Transylvania a little bit more lucrative, completing the missions from the system has always been my greatest source of achievement and power. So I had to make sure I got it done, I just didn't know how.

"You know, for a guy who's said to be white wise and farsighted, you're really blind." Emrys said to me

I stopped running for a moment, stopping in front of a huge chasm that seemed bottomless. For a moment I wondered where the bottomless pit in front of me came from, before I smacked myself on the head and remembered that this was my fault. In my bid to escape from the villagers of Jakande, I had created this hole to escape from them. But that was not my worry right now, I turned my head to my right watching Emrys as he lazily stared back at me from his perch on my right shoulder.

"What do you mean?" I asked him.

"First of all let me tell you something you gullible, trusting idiot. Though it's mainly due to your lack of knowledge, so you can't be blamed for not knowing. A mortal can not steal a G.o.d's essence of divinity, much less a demon G.o.ddess of war. I don't know why Dracula was not honest with you about this, but Kali was the one who handed out her essence of divinity, it was an attempt on her part to propagate a new race that would serve her alone, and she fouls only gain that by perverting a race that could be said to be already perfect in every aspect, and that's the vampires.

She tool advantage of the fact that many of the vampires needed an edge to win the war that they were already loosing, since Dracula wasn't around, she was the only other divine being willing to help. So they made a deal, but as with all desperate deals, they did not read the fine print and they were taken advantage of. Kali is the one who is responsible for the gates of Transylvania being sealed, after changing the genetic templates of the vampires and every other race left here into what suited her, she camped at the gates and spent thousands of years taking the soul of all those who tried to escape, whilst her divine essences which carried her will, twisted the mind of those who held them, granting great power in return for wors.h.i.+pping her.

But there are some beings that are not supposed to be wors.h.i.+ped, or at the very least wors.h.i.+pped by creatures who's nature have been twisted. Nature jointly created vampires as opposed to the story of Dracula making a deal, it would never have worked if nature did not see the need of a having guardians who would keep it's balance, especially the balance of life and death. The change upset the natural order of things, and as punishment this land died, and it would continue to remain dead until the culprit has been punished.
So your mission parameters young king, is not to destroy a dungeon, or kill weird creatures and recover the essences of divinity. Your mission is to kill a G.o.d, to kill Kali. Or at least banish her from existence for a few thousand years, you can never really kill a G.o.d, not unless you have a G.o.d killer with you. And you don't have that, those weapons are so rare there's only two in existence. And none of them are in the seventh layer universe."

"Okay so what you're telling me is to complete Earth's mission, I have to kill Kali. But it wouldn't be a true death since I don't have a weapon called G.o.d killer." I asked Emrys with a simple look on my face.

"Yep that's about right." Emrys answered back as he yawned and stretched on my shoulder.

"But you don't have to give a true death, just turn into a dragon and banish her from existence for a few hundred thousand years, she'll be reborn as a G.o.ddess much later on, though I guarantee she would be very p.i.s.sed at you then, if you're still alive that is. So what are you going to do now?" Emrys asked me.

"Well it's simple really, I'm going to go to Jakande, turn every human there into a vampire, and then take the essence of divinity hidden there and responsible for their unfair and insane abilities, and then we'll go kill Kali, maybe kick Dracula's a.s.s while we're at it, then we'll go home and make sure Ethernalia Leonis becomes a part of the realm. And then I'll be going back home, back to what's left of the Cor family and I'll be taking back what belongs to me. After we've done that, we'll go look for the remaining kings and prepare for the a.s.similation of the seventh and sixth universe five years from now." I said to Emrys.

"You seem to have everything you're going to do planned out, you're going to be quite busy for the next couple of years. Impressive."

"Well what did you expect? I'm a king."
