"Well then, I think a week of free time is enough for you. See you then."
Anami then just turned left and started walking towards the exit. Aya commented
"That's pretty strange. I mean, he entered the club like 2 days ago."
Anami ignored the comment and continued to walk, I decided to say something before she left the room. I cleared my throat and said clearly
"Thank you, Anami. I appreciate it."
The words must have had some sort of impact because Anami suddenly stopped in her tracks and stood there. Upon saying a relatively quiet "Yeah.", Anami continued to walk. Aya quickly turned around as well and said
"Wait, Anami"
Aya proceeded to run out of the room and up to the slowly walking Anami. Aya was about to ask a question but was taken aback once she saw the pink-shaded red face with a bright and wide smile.
Aya stared at that face for a moment while a complicated feeling swelled up within her, but she ignored it for now and returned to the previous room. Once she entered the room, she saw, what seemed to her, the absolutely bizarre sight of Kanton and Narino fighting.
Kanton said
"Obviously all humans are bad! Just think of all the benefits the earth would see if we disappeared. There wouldn't be any global warming, The animals would be free and conflict wouldn't be a thing!"
Narino scuffed at the argument and said
"That's pretty dumb! Why do we have to solve it that way? We should obviously find a way to balance the earth's health and our existence. That way, people don't have to just disappear."
Kanton laughed condescendingly and said
"Of course that's impossible! Humans are rotten to the core, the greed of humanity would never let them just stop factories to decrease carbon dioxide release. The laziness of humanity wouldn't let them try and prevent our earth from becoming another star. The wrath and pride of humans wouldn't let them stop fighting each other over stupid and unnecessary reasons. I could go on and on but I'm trying to show you that humans are nothing but stupid animals."
Narino sighed and said
"Perhaps you're right, it's pretty darn greedy of you to demand the lives of billions of innocent and hard-working people just because some of them act on the primal instincts way too hard. Because that's fair, right? You act like you have the moral high ground here, but you want nothing more than to kill billions of people."
Both of them scuffed at the other person's "ignorance" and looked in opposite directions as a protest against each other.
Sora interrupted their mind battles and said
"Talk about fighting over stupid reasons, you were companions just a couple of hours ago. What happened?"
Before they had the chance to retaliate, Aya swooped in and commented
"I think they like each other, that's why they're arguing."
Both of them didn't even bother to respond but just sighed. I raised my hand slowly and said
"What a ruckus you're making, I think I'm going home now."
Aya said
"Going home? You can't go home!"
I said
"What? Of course, I can. Especially now when I have this 'golden week' if you know what I'm saying."
Sora sighed and said
"What an unsophisticated joke..."
I nodded and said
"Nothing surprising there, right? But the matter of the fact is... that I'm still going home."
I tried to walk towards the exit by was stopped by the slightly shorter girl named Aya. She said
"You mustn't, it's for the better if you stay here and rest your body. At least for a night."
I really wanted to just walk out of there but she did have a point, I had been pretty hurt during the battle and I wasn't strong enough to push my way through these Kaito users.
I just turned around and sat back down in the bed.
"Wow, that was pretty easy." Aya said.
I responded
"I guess so. It's not that hard to make me do things. That's pretty apparent from me even being here in this scenario right now."
Aya lit up and said
"Well, how about you give me a back ma.s.sage, then."
I said
"Fine, sit down here" and pointed to a spot next to me."
Aya heeded my words and sat down. I proceeded with starting a back ma.s.sage, rubbing her rather soft skin. Aya exhaled pleased and smiled. After a while, I stopped and Narino asked
"Well, how about you give me some money?"
I tiredly pulled out my wallet and handed her 500 yen. She grabbed them excitedly and smiled like the previous person who'd pressured me into doing something.
Kanton thought it was his time to request something and said
"Well, how about you watch 'I'm not OP, I just have the strongest power in this work of fiction' where they end each episode with 'This is fiction, guys. Don't get mad in social media'?"
I stood up and made a hypothetical line across the bed with my finger and said
"That's where I have to draw the line, Kanton."
Kanton lashed out and said
"Eh!? Why!? That was the most simple request of them all! I think you would enjoy it a lot!"
I said
"I don't know, the show got one negative review so I'm a bit wary on starting it in case it's bad."
Kanton once again lashed out and said
"That's so stupid! ONE review!? I'm pretty sure HxH has dozens of bad reviews, but you still love it. I can't believe this..."
I shrugged at his backlash, signaling that his argument did not penetrate my mind as he had hoped.
- Psshh, Like objective and truthful arguments could convince me. I barely believe that cheese is made from milk, how the h.e.l.l does it go from silky smooth and delicious liquid milk to that smelly rough and awful solid cheese? I don't want to believe it, there's probably, maybe, perhaps something behind all of it. That's why I started the hashtag #NotMyCheese. But it turns out a lot of people like cheese and have very strong opinions about 'Conspiracy theorists' like me, whatever that now means. People nowadays...-
Once Narino registered my rejection of Kanton's obvious logic, she commented
"Looks like you didn't get anything because of your stupidity! Look at this."
She pulled out the 500 yen coin that I had given her and brandished it in front of Kanton in excitement. Kanton looked at Narino with spite and said
"So what? You got 500 yen, what can you do with that? You can buy like one issue of Shonen jump, what more?"
Narino slammed down her hand with the coin down to the bed front. I backed up in the bed out of shock, Narino said
"Why is that the first thing you think I'd buy!? I'm not an 'Otaku' like you are! It doesn't even matter because, at the end of the day, I still earned 500 yen extra money."
Kanton responded
"Earned? Like you worked for it, or even deserved it. You only used your good looks to play on Kenjiro's carnal desire of l.u.s.t and his good nature to get what you wanted. This is a perfect example of human greed. Truly a tragic sight."
Narino was about to yell again but I managed to get my epic line out before her
"If you two don't calm down, I'm really going to jump out of the window. You know I'm serious."
The two of them quickly sat down. Instead, Sora took a way too dramatic step forward and said
"Do it then. I don't think you have the guts to do it."
The declaration flew through the room like the shock wave from an atomic bomb, less deadly of course. Silence fell upon all of the people in the room, even the infamous me.
I stood up from my bed and started walking towards the window, Aya suddenly said
"What are you saying, Sora!? He'll actually do it!"
Sora just remained quiet and kept her look onto me. I walked up to the window frame and opened it up all the way. The window suddenly blew up in my face, causing my hair to fly all over the place. The bright orange sun pierced my eye, even though it was on it's way to the other side of the world to wake other people up. Below us were a couple of trees and bushes that followed them. It seemed like we were around 3 floors up in the building, so somewhat high up. Ibuki approached my back and said
"Don't do it. You'll hurt yourself!"
The words had a bit of an impact on me, because I got some quick memories to a worse time. I didn't know why I had been reminded of my past so many times these last couple of days since I met the self-proclaimed 'Kenjiro-watching-pact'. Was that just how it was when you hung out with people for what could have been the 3rd time in my life, or was there something special to these individuals? I didn't know, nor did I feel like thinking about it.
After doing a quite anti-climactic turn, I said
"Aya was entirely right, I will do it. I may be the worst person out there, But when I promise something I make sure to follow through with it. That's precisely why I do it, in order to not become an even worse individual."
Ibuki looked up at my face, terrified. As she did that, Sora instead looked at me with a captivated face. Like she hadn't expected me to even try and fulfill that at-the-spur-of-the-moment half-promise I made.
I turned around completely and faced the girls(and one pretty concerned dude) who were staring at me. I said
"See you s.p.a.ce cowboy..."
and just jumped out of the window backward.
Before I started falling down, I did a small wink to message that I really did do it. But as gravity would have it, I started falling immediately after.
I had to admit, the wind brus.h.i.+ng against my skin in the lukewarm afternoon did feel heavenly good. You wouldn't expect a leap to death to feel so good but the whole experience felt pretty nice, externally. Internally, I was kind of panicking. Even though I saw myself as the worst person out there and that I probably deserved this, I did still hate-love myself and didn't quite just want to disappear yet. I mean, I hadn't even seen the ending of One Piece yet… If I would've even been able to see it during my normal lifetime.
Suddenly, I heard a voice
"I get it!"
*DING*
My body was then thrown into some kind of soft texture that also felt pretty darn good. At this moment, I had closed my eyes to preserve the feeling I had felt during the fall.
-So this is how clouds feel, huh? I have to say though, I didn't quite expect the transition from earth to heaven to be this quick. I guess the servers are quite st.u.r.dy. Nope, that whole monologue I just did was so cliché that I can't actually be dead. -
I opened my eyes and lo and behold, I was not dead
- Wooow, I sure am surprised right now.
This is why Anime is so useful, it teaches you when to outright deny stupid s.h.i.+t that your mind comes up with.-
I looked beneath me and noticed this weird white mat-like object that had a see-through pattern on it. The ground was a lot closer than I expected, like 30 cm from where I was on this mat. I suppose that that whole transition would've been real if it wasn't for this incredibly, suspiciously convenient saving. I looked up to the window and noticed an onlooking Sora stand by the window, looking down on me. See what I did?
Slowly but surely, I was being pulled up to the window again. I wondered how these powers work, since this weird mat was just flying without any attachments. That didn't seem possible at all.
When I reached the window finally, Aya started asking
"Why did you encourage him to jump, Sora!?"
Sora stayed quiet for a couple of seconds until she opened her mouth and said
"I was just tired of people..."
-d.a.m.n, that sounds like a future serial killer, I suddenly don't really want to be here. But I suppose if I get murdered here by a teenage girl, it's my destiny to die today. I've already escaped death twice, so only time will tell. -
