She was supposed to meet with Alex and Will at 8pm but she just received a message from Alex saying that he couldn't join them. She could pretty much guess what was happening, but she couldn't help but worry about Cain's reaction. Thus, as soon as she got home she opened her laptop and she input a long string of codes after which her screen blacked out and then slowly light blue letters started showing on it.
She connected to her chat with Cain and quickly typed;
"I am going to give city tour to Will. It was supposed to be the three of us but I guess he wants to talk to me. Will keep you updated." - Queenie
Cain was currently in a meeting with the heads of his various forces as they were trying to deal with all the attacks The Lion was initiating. After the last time that they bombarded one of The Lion's bases, it seemed like he had gone crazy. He would spare no effort to destroy Cain's hideouts these days.
However, who was Cain? He wasn't called The Dragon for naught, he wasn't also called The Devil King for being lenient towards his enemies.
So, here The Devil King was, giving commands to his men to deal with the madman, when his phone buzzed in the familiar sequence. Without any second thought, he directly raised his hand to silence the people around him.
His action surprised everyone as they wanted to know what could have happened for their boss to stop such an important meeting. However, the next second they were more than sure that something worse than apocalypse had come to them, as the temperature around the man seemed to have frozen. The bloodthirst that was now oozing out of him was so strong that they felt like suffocating.
'Seems like there is going to be a bloodbath. The Lion surely has gone crazy to make The Dragon so mad,' everyone thought simultaneously. All of them subconsciously straightened their backs preparing themselves for the upcoming inhumane mission as they had never seen their boss so angry.
Who knew that it would still take them some time before they realised that their Boss would show this kind of bloodthirst only when someone was so tired of living that would dare to covet their lady Boss.
However, the man in question only gritted his teeth and wrote a single word with unrestrained indignation;
"NEVER!" - King
Upon receiving his message, Sia realised the calamity she feared had already came true. So, she quickly used the best strategy to coax her raging king. Instead of texting him, she straight away used the new secure line they created to call him.
He picked up her call after the very first ring. Not giving him even a second to talk she started in her sweet voice as if she was convincing a child;
"My dearest darling calm down, okay? Why should I not see him? He is just another human being. I just see him as a person who is close to my cousin so I am giving him face. He is a cultured person so I am sure he knows his boundaries.
Or is it that you don't trust your Queen?"
With her last sentence her voice sounded aggrieved, as if just the thought of the statement gave her the biggest sorrow. However, only she knew how hard she was trying to not use the word 'man' to avoiding making her possessive boyfriend even angrier.
There were in total seven men including Cain in the room. All of them were his most trusted subordinates, and Ash was even his right hand man. Because the room was in complete silence they could hear the woman's voice from the phone clearly. But even if they heard her they refused to believe that someone dared to lay a beauty trap for their boss. No wonder the Boss was so angry, seemed like there was going to be one less woman in the world.
What they didn't expect though was their boss's subsequent response, which though cold, was much more relaxed and was even carrying hints of indulgence and doting. It seemed that the enchantress's charms did their job perfectly.
"If he dares touch you, I swear I'll cut his limbs personally. So, you better keep your distance for his own good."
John, who was the major general of Cain's military troops, immediately chocked on the water he was drinking. The problem was that the people around him were so shocked that they didn't even notice their friend's face turning shades of red-blue because of all coughing.
They were overwhelmed, okay!? When had they ever seen their emotionless boss being nice to someone, especially a female at that!? One should know their boss was mysophobic and people even at some point were suspecting him to be gynophobic too, unlike the l.u.s.tful Lion, who was known to enjoy at least a woman a day.
"Okay, got it. You know I love you and only you so no need to get all worked up. But where are you? Why does it seem like someone is going to die from a coughing fit?"
Upon hearing the woman's voice, people suddenly realised that John was now blue from all the coughing and shock he had just experienced. So quickly they gave him some water and inclined his head forward to help him with his situation. On the other hand Cain simply said,
"It's nothing to worry about. Just someone who is nearing his death anyways."
"You sure about that?" Sia said with a chuckle but the next moment her voice suddenly turned solemn and she blurted out,
"What the...?"
Cain sensed the change in her tone and quickly asked,
"What's the matter?"
"Nothing much: someone is trying to hack me. No wait, it's actually not just one person but at least ten at a time. I am hanging up. Will contact you as soon as I am done with those."
Cain's brows furrowed in deep thought. He had an uneasy feeling and his intuition had never been wrong.
"Do you need help?"
"No, should be fine. Will tell you if anything happens."
"Okay. Good luck love."
"Hmmm" she answered and quickly hang the call.
'Interesting' she thought to herself, her lips curling into an alluring smile that would make any man drawn to her.
She wasn't the only one that found the unfolding events interesting though. The group of men couldn't help but wait for Cain to talk. After all, he just said 'love'! He f*ckin said 'love'! The devil had someone he loved! They had a lady boss! And the lady boss seemed like a total siren with her glib tongue! Were they going to have little devils soon? For heaven's sake, their brains were soon going to burn from overexertion!
Noticing all the expectant looks of his men, Cain simply pa.s.sed an apathetic glance at them and after some deliberation said, with his usual indifferent tone;
"Your lady boss has an affinity with flies which makes me really p.i.s.sed now. So you better give me satisfactory reports so that I can go back to her and put all those flies in the places they belong to. Am I clear?"
"Sir, yes sir!" everyone saluted in sync though the curiosity was still killing them.
Not finding their reactions out of ordinary Cain continued,
"No one should know about her, understood?"
"Roger that!"
Not daring to ask anymore from their boss everyone turned their gazes towards Ash, who didn't seem surprised at all. But, alas, the indifferent man only rolled his eyes to everyone's urging stares and instructed them to start the meeting.
Meanwhile, in a secret hideout filled with hackers, several people were sweating profusely trying to break the barriers set up by some kind of a monster on the other end of the screen, who wasn't sparing efforts to add more barriers to his protection. Seeing all of this Robert exclaimed;
"Finally! Our only salvation!" after a second of calming down his excitement he said sternly,
"If you don't want to be killed by the Lion you better find a way to defeat him."
And so, without any second thoughts, all the men in the room concentrated all their attention on the opponent on the other side of the screen.
This was a live or die situation, and they much preferred the former option.
