While he was didn't conceal his annoyance and kept silent, Sia couldn't help but give him an eye roll for his denseness. How dare he treat a fan in such a way? No wonder he was still single despite being almost 30. It seemed like she had a lot of work to do.
Looking at Olivia's expectant and adorable look, Sia had a change of mind: if before she wanted to play a matchmaker between her best friend and Alex, now she had other designs for him.
With this mindset, she firmly decided to take the reigns of the situation in her hands.
"Olivia, my cousin is a bit of a blockhead and is really opinionated whenever matters involve girls. So, if you by any chance need his a.s.sistance with your dissertation you will need to be more persistent."
Olivia was confused initially but something clicked in her mind and she turned to offer her support to Alex,
"Ah! No wonder you are never seen with women! You know, in this year and age there is nothing to be worried about! You can certainly find a supporter in me for your relations.h.i.+p. After all, loving someone is your choice and no one can judge you for it."
Alex couldn't be any more baffled than now, but he really couldn't be bothered to talk to her either which was why he gave her a questioning gaze, probably hoping she would explain her point.
Oliver, on the other hand, could easily guess what his twin was thinking and was on the verge of laughing upon seeing Alex's reaction. No wonder Sia said he was dense.
And he wasn't the only one who could deduce Olivia's meaning. Only, Sia found these two people too funny so didn't hold back her laughter to which she was greeted with the same questioning gaze from the two clueless people.
"Umm, Olivia, my cousin is not gay. He is just quite bad at understanding or communicating with girls."
Understanding downed on Alex and his face darkened momentarily. He threw a warning glare at Olivia but refused to talk and degrade himself to her level. Was the girl's brain filled with water or what? Which part of his attractive, good-looking and charming self didn't look straight to that d*mned girl!?
Olivia was truly having a difficult time: she absolutely didn't want to make a fool of herself or offend her long time idol in front of her newfound one. Was this the famous stage-fright? Was that why her IQ had deteriorated today?
"Sorry, I didn't mean to offend you. I just thought that given your style and looks it wouldn't be far from the truth," not only did she look sad but also downcast, as it felt like she was particularly regretting the fact that Alex was straight.
This was the final blow Alex was going to take. Was this all really a coincidence or some kind of an evil plot against him? Where the h*ck did this girl come from? Why was she trying to p.i.s.s him off so badly every time she opened her d*mned mouth?
He stood up to leave only to be pulled back by Sia who firmly held into his wrist. He wanted to retaliate but couldn't bring himself to go against Sia's wishes. Also, how could he possibly leave Sia alone with some weirdo and a strange man? What was he thinking?
With Sia's small gesture he returned to his seat but completely disregarded Olivia. Seeing his behaviour and Olivia's dejected expression, Oliver wanted to say something, but Sia was a little bit faster than him:
"Okay, Alex, you were rude just now so you better apologise." She then turned to Olivia, "And you, my dear, need to tame your imagination a bit. It's only that Alex doesn't really like being in the company of women that it is normally hard for women to get close to him. However, if you really want to do so it is not completely impossible. I am an example of that."
a.n.a.lysing Sia's every word carefully, Olivia contemplated loudly, "Does that mean he will agree to help me if I am persistent enough?"
"Exactly so! You can even treat this as an interview and give him reasons to a.s.sist you." Sia's bright smile returned back. Seemed like not everything was lost and Olivia was quite single-minded which helped the situation a lot.
However, the aura that Olivia exuded the next moment was completely different of her lively self. After she nodded her head in understanding, Olivia had a 180 degree change in temperament and entered a professional mode while facing Alex,
"Mr. Alex, I am currently in my fourth year of bachelor's degree and plan to pursue a career of a fas.h.i.+on designer. I am the first in my cla.s.s and have won several awards for young designers including the 'Pearl novice' and 'Golden young designer" awards. I might be young now but I am a promising youth. So who knows, I might even be able to give you some ideas. I will surely become someone who won't disappoint you in future so you won't lose out by collaborating with me. Thank you."
The room was silent for a moment as everyone was sh.e.l.l-shocked by her sudden change of att.i.tude, including her own twin brother. However, remembering her serious little self everyone, including even Alex, burst out laughing. Sia was basically guffawing as she looked at the switch that had turned on in Olivia. Even she couldn't fathom how this girl's brain worked let alone the primitive Alex. Olivia, however, easily understood the matter so she didn't ask for any opinions from the people there.
After a good laugh Alex's dislike for the girl had decreased a lot but he still refused to talk to her. Noticing that it was past midnight he motioned to Sia to leave the hospital. Sia didn't reject him this time around and agreed to leave. However, before leaving she made sure to exchange her contacts with the twins and she 'conveniently' gave Alex's phone number too in case she was not available. She also promised to return as grandma Lucy woke up.
After the goodbye formalities were done Sia and Alex were finally back in the car. As soon as they sat down, Sia tuned to Alex and probed expectantly,
"She was a really interesting girl, right?"
