She slipped out from his arm and the bed sheets. Picking up his grey s.h.i.+rt she slipped it on and walked to the lone window in his apartment. She stood there a few minutes and then leaned against the wall, staring out into the night. Marcus woke at 6 am as it was his general time. He could still smile the musk in the air and on the sheets from the wild s.e.x he had indulged in. He stretched out a hand and realized he was alone in the large bed. He rolled over and saw her by the window. Before he could speak she asked, "Marcus when we went to the funeral home you mentioned a relayed message from Russia?"
He thought for a minute, "Yes, it was something like, is she there? Tell her I'm coming. to wait Ivan or Ivar." Cally looked back out into the dark sky. She nodded as she pondered this. Speaking to herself, Marcus heard, "He probably got held up on pack ice." She looked at the decadent scene before her. Marcus was lying against his pillows with his bare chest practically a beacon to the love sick. Sigh* "Marcus I believe we are going to get an unpleasant visit in a little less than 3 days. His name is or was Ivar Piast. He probably ran into trouble on pack ice while trying to get here. He has crossed the Bering Strait and is on the North American continent." She was silent a moment thinking, "Where are your strike teams?"
Realizing what Cally was suggesting, Marcus got out of bed and pulled on his trousers from the night before. Padding barefoot he walked to her. He grabbed her shoulders and faced her fully, "He's crazed? I have a small security detail here at Clan Home. We have a security details stationed in Las Vegas, St. Louis, Mo, and another outside of DC. We have 1 in Saskatchewan, Canada. What is his potential?" Mad wolves actually fell into different levels of danger. Non- Alpha werewolves were the easiest to dispatch since they had low power levels. The older the wolf, the more powerful and if Ivar was an Alpha it had the potential of a ma.s.sive bomb. If Jock had moved into a more populated area after going mad; The body count would be unimaginable.
"Ivar is old. He's several centuries." Marcus interrupted, "Older than Olen?" Cally smiled and put her hands on his naked shoulders. She rubbed back and forth just to feel the texture. "No, No one was older than Olen. I var has been a pack leader so he is Alpha. He was never a clan leader because of his territory. " Cally tilted her head considering, "He's running. He's come almost all the way on his own power. He was slowed down by pack ice and when he reached the Straits... not even a werewolf can swim the Bering Straits." She closed her eyes, "40 miles per hour is his top speed. He won't stop until he reaches me. He has me fixed in his mind."
Marcus grabbed those distracting hands that were playing along his shoulders, "Why? Why come here? Why you?" Her beautiful eyes opened. They gleamed gold in the ambient light. "Because he thought I could save him." Marcus bent his head to better look into those eyes, "He thought?" She closed her eyes and when she reopened them they had returned to her normal hazel eyes. She laid her head on his chest, silently asking for a hug. "Thank you for last night. I didn't expect so much so soon." "Cally, are you changing the subject?" She smiled up at him, "No, not exactly." She laid her head back on his chest and breathed him in. He smelled so good. Mmm they smelled so good on each other.
"He was running full out until he hit the open water. When he had to stop; he killed. He ate. After feeding he regained enough to take a boat and cross over. He probably killed again when he hit the sh.o.r.e of Alaska. Now he is running full out. Unless he is stopped he won't kill again until he reaches me. He thinks I can change him and give him more time like I did Olen. I could have but once he started killing..."
"I'll head out tonight to intercept. Hopefully we can locate him in an unpopulated area and take him out cleanly." Marcus knew 'cleanly' meant sniper rifle. One shot one kill. "I'll come with you of course." She tightened her hold for a second and released him. She stepped back "No, you have to stay here in case he gets past us. Start moving non essentials out immediately." She turned and picked up her discarded dress and shoes. "Give me a sniper and spotter. We'll leave tonight. Ivar can't go faster than 40 mph so we should have no problem with the intercept." He watched her walk away from him, "Why tonight?"
The council is meeting in a few hours. I want to be there. I have to leave the girls for a couple of days and need to prepare them. You know girl stuff." She looked at him and suddenly ran back and kissed his lips before slipping away. She was gone before he could return the kiss. Marcus headed to his bathroom for a shower. He had a lot to do today.
