Marcus looked at the agent steadily for a couple of minutes. After seeming to decide something in his mind he responded, "Let me make a phone call." Turning he paced several steps away. A distance that your average human would not be able to overhear the conversation.
Calling Cally he had to wait for several rings to pa.s.s before she picked up. "Marcus! Just the man I need. I just got a bunch of deliveries and need help moving it all. Can you spare me a few minutes or a few minions?" Ignoring that he asked, "Cally did Catherine Rosemount take a crown that belonged to you? There is a detail at the main gates from the FBI that want to determine owner s.h.i.+p and at a guess look for other possible looted treasures." "Ha! I knew I should have gutted that woman. Troublesome... Okay send them up. I can prove it belongs to me." And quick as a wink she hung up on him.
Realizing he was not surprised at all by the phone call he turned back and approached Agent Charlene Winstead, "I have spoken to the owner of the crown. She said she can prove provenance. If you would park your vehicles. We will drive you to the main building in club cars. I apologize for not introducing myself. I am Marcus Knight. As head of security here at Clan Home I will feel more comfortable driving you around as you don't have a valid search warrant."
Charlene consulted with her team and agreed that it seemed to be the best for the time being. They would leave one agent outside for their own personal safety. So four agents boarded two club cars and headed up to Guild Hall. Marcus led the way to a club car and handed Agent Charlene Winstead in and waited as the other agent hopped on the backseat. James followed behind with the other two agents.
Taking great interest in her surroundings as they drove the winding road towards Guild Hall. Agent Charlene noticed children in playgrounds, a pool, sidewalks, homes, small businesses. All of this made her and her partner feel a little more at ease. "Mr. Knight, what is Clan Home?" Glancing at her from the corner of his eyes, he carefully drove forward, "Clan Home is a closed community that hosts many individuals and families from all over the world. Most but not all have some connection to the Wotan International corporation."
"You will be meeting the current majority share holder Cally Wotan." Charlene Winston was a thirty something, up and coming agent. She enjoyed her job and position of power. Her current position of having a bad warrant because of insufficient information was outside the team's norm. Being driven through a gated community by one of the most charismatic men she had ever encountered was certainly enough to call her few female friends about later. He looked like the perfect example of her secret, won't admit to reading, romance novel's Hero. And he barely glanced at her.
"Wotan International, didn't the CEO Olan Hammerson just die? I seem to recall bits and bytes about a large influx of international visitors to this area for his funeral." She wanted to keep him talking. She wanted his attention, even if she didn't realize it herself. Without taking his eyes off his driving Marcus responded, "Olen Hamundarson. Olen had stepped down from the position of CEO sometime ago. But yes he lived here also. We had a great many visitors to honor his memory. He and the Wotan family had a long history."
Rounding the last curve the front of Guild Hall came into view. The stunning steel and gla.s.s building of Guild Hall stunned the agents. Being in the Art Crime Team of the FBI, who would not recognize Frank Lloyd Wright's Fallingwater masterpiece? Equally amazing was the spectacle going on on the front steps of the hall. A young woman was bouncing excitedly around separating packages and directing a group of people. One bear of a man was lifting the corner of what appeared to be a very large crated painting or maybe a picture window. On the other end was was a beanpole little guy trying to lift his corner. "Mistress! Where do you want this?"
"Sasha, you and Stringbean take that to the council chamber. Jessie, Abby this pile is yours. Take it on up to our rooms. Where is that mechanic? I want to try out my new segway!" Opening one box and rummaging around the beautiful girl with fly away honey colored hair pulled out a helmet that had a push-broom-like thing on top and seemed to comically resemble an ancient Roman Centurion's helmet. Marcus was riveted by the sight. Green in color, Cally plopped it on her head. That's when he realized, she had Marvin the Martian's helmet!
