Chapter 1117: Section 1118 Response
When Angel spoke of the human cleansing plan, there was an uproar over the floating ice.
The expressions of everyone s.h.i.+fted, indicating that if what Angel was saying was true, then they all were on the brink of danger.
“Is what he’s saying true?”
“How could an Apprentice have access to such information?”
“A human cleansing plan sounds like something a Demon would do! But whether it’s true still needs verification because it could also be a trap set by the Demons intentionally.”
“Given the gravity of the situation, we must employ Authenticity Verification Magic to test it.”
Calls for using Authenticity Verification Magic grew increasingly loud as Maher asked Monty with a troubled look, “Master Monty, do we need to convey this to Lady Samantha?”
Monty gave Sanders a glance, who remained impa.s.sive, betraying no emotion.
Monty shook his head: “Samantha knows what to do. Besides, even if we use Authenticity Verification Magic and determine that Angel is telling the truth, we still cannot be sure whether he’s been deceived.”
“What he’s saying is true,” Sanders stated with certainty.
“How can you be so sure, Illusion Demon?” Vifette inquired.
With a dismissive glance, Sanders replied, “Intuition.”
In the world of Mortals, “intuition” might be too abstract to be considered solid evidence, but the intuition of a True Knowledge Wizard couldn’t be ignored.
“I’ve just performed an intervention with Prophecy—combining good luck charms and bad luck detection, and I’ve come to a conclusion which is quite certain: we are indeed caught in a dire conspiracy, which probably refers to the Void’s disturbance,” Frostmoon’s Prophet Wizard announced his findings.
With the Prophet Wizard’s confirmatory conclusion, those who doubted Angel fell silent. Now they faced a new question: if the disturbance of the Void was real and the human cleansing plan encompa.s.sed all of them, how should they respond?
“Even if it is a disturbance of the Void, the Demons would likely only dare to operate midair. If they did so on the ground, I reckon it would lead to La.s.sudral’s utter destruction… In that case, why don’t we land on the ground?” one Wizard suggested.
“Master Monty, what should we do next?” Maher asked.
All eyes then turned to Monty, awaiting his decision.
Compared to the urgency on the other faces, Monty seemed unhurried: “If we hadn’t known this information, we might have been in great trouble. But with this knowledge, there are many ways to deal with it.”
Monty’s calm demeanor slightly eased everyone’s minds. He was right—Wizards did not conquer the Pan-Dimensional Plane with brute force… Once, a plane on the verge of collapse was restored by Wizards using their knowledge to rebuild its elemental balance and establis.h.i.+ng new Laws, turning that plane into an affiliate of the Wizards’ Realm. And that very plane, salvaged by human effort, became—the Perpetually Frozen Ice Fields, and the main base of the Frostmoon Alliance.
“Evading is an option, but it’s not the only one,” Monty stated confidently, “Don’t worry. Since we know this information, the power of choice returns to our hands.”
Monty’s lips moved swiftly, and new orders were given to the Frostmoon team. Unbeknownst to the others, Frostmoon’s strategy had also s.h.i.+fted.
“The news from Angel came just in time; indeed, he’s the actor I had my eye on… oh no, the seed of an actor, rather, a potential seed,” Mu Ying leaned against an iceberg, pale-faced but still talking non-stop.
Sanders shot Mu Ying a cold glare. Mu Ying initially wanted to say more, but as he opened his mouth, he found himself speechless and looking utterly confused.
“Indeed, the news from Angel is crucial. Once this matter is over, I will grant him Frostmoon’s highest reward,” Monty spoke casually, yet his words landed like a bomb in the crowd, leaving everyone stunned.
“Frostmoon’s highest reward can only be those two,” someone muttered after a while.
Although Monty did not confirm, his expression gave away his agreement.
The highest rewards of Frostmoon were the Frost Essence and the Moon Chapter.
Whether one chose either, it represented a tremendous opportunity! Not just for a Wizard Apprentice, but even for an Official Wizard, it would be enormously beneficial!
Instantly, jealousy appeared in everyone’s eyes. Even though they acknowledged that Angel’s information had saved them all and deserved the accolade… any disaster that didn’t occur, be it a cataclysm or the shadow of a Demon G.o.d, would be hard to prioritize in the survivors’ minds as long as it was averted or prevented.
Even Sanders was initially surprised, knowing that Samantha’s swift advancement on the path of True Knowledge was largely connected to the “Moon Chapter.” However, after his initial surprise, Sanders calmed down. He was certain that as long as Angel didn’t sabotage himself, he was destined to walk the path of True Knowledge, and while the rewards were indeed valuable, they weren’t as crucial as one might imagine.
As he regained his composure, Sanders noticed the greed and jealousy in the eyes of the surrounding Wizards. Besides a cold laughter inside, he focused his attention more on Monty.
Monty, in declaring so in front of many, surely had his calculations. Especially because there were many among them dissatisfied with Illusion Demon Island, such as Song of the Deep Sea, Gravity Forest… and even the Frostmoon Alliance.
Thinking of this, Sanders sneered coldly in his heart.
“We’ll talk about Angel’s reward later. For now, the priority is dealing with the so-called demon purge plan, as well as the hunting plan for Aoluxiya. These matters still need to be confirmed by Angel.” After Monty had spoken, he gestured for Maher to continue the communication with Samantha.
Above the Scorched Earth at this moment.
After getting over the surprise brought by the “purge plan,” Samantha restrained her tone and said to Angel, “Regarding the human extermination plan you mentioned, I’ve already pa.s.sed it on to Lord Monty. I believe there will be measures taken soon. If it’s confirmed as true, you will have done us a great favor.”
Angel also sighed in relief. Since he had already pa.s.sed the message on, he didn’t need to worry about it anymore; presumably, his mentor would have a solution upon finding out.
“However, I hope you can tell me, where did you get this information?”
Unconsciously, Samantha’s tone turned questioning again. Kanter coughed and said to Angel, “We just want to confirm the source of the news, it’s no problem if you don’t want to answer.”
“I beg your pardon, but I cannot answer that,” Angel said apologetically. Regardless, he had to consider Canaan’s position.
Samantha glared at Kanter, then told Angel, “If you don’t want to talk, so be it. In any case, I trust that Lord Monty will judge the authenticity of the message.”
As Samantha said this, she changed the subject, “About the Hunting Museum and Aoluxiya, how much do you know?”
Angel was momentarily stunned. He thought that upon learning of the human extermination plan, the wizards would immediately react. But it seems that Lord Monty cared more about the issue of the Demon G.o.d’s descendants than the plan.
“The night curator of the Hunting Museum is the prospective lord who will ascend the throne. I don’t know much about it. As for Aoluxiya, my knowledge is limited to his background.”
Samantha looked at Angel intently and her lips curved slightly, “You’re not telling the truth.”
Angel looked at Samantha, “What I’ve said is true. With my position, what could I know?”
“Before we clearly saw Aoluxiya entering your shop.”
“Your informants?” Angel paused, “You mean Popota?”
“Who is Popota?”
Angel saw the genuine confusion on Samantha’s face, and it appeared that Popota’s presence here had nothing to do with them, or at least not with Frostmoon’s people.
Upon the ice floes, Monty muttered the name “Popota” softly, having no recollection in his mind, but considering it came from Angel’s lips, it was unlikely to be a n.o.body.
Monty asked Maher, “Do you know who Popota is?”
Maher shook his head; of all the people atop the ice floes, only Sanders frowned slightly, as if a vague image sprang to his mind.
While everyone on the ice floes was clueless, it was Kanter beside Samantha who showed confusion, “The Popota you’re talking about, it’s not the one I’m thinking of, is it?”
Angel, “If Lord Kanter is thinking of the Popota who helped you through a level in Monument Valley, then yes, that’s him.”
“It really is that guy? Hmm, from what you imply, he’s also in La.s.sudral?”
Angel nodded, “Yes, I saw him when my scouting puppet was patrolling. It seems he killed quite a few Purgatory Flame Slaves.”
“Isn’t he just an apprentice? How could he have the strength to kill Purgatory Flame Slaves?” Kanter wondered.
Angel himself was also puzzled. Even if Popota’s chains bore the mark of The Unparalleled Great Demon G.o.d, they shouldn’t be so powerful. It couldn’t be that The Unparalleled Great Demon G.o.d had bestowed his avatar’s will upon the chains, could it?
“Regardless of who Popota is or whether he’s in La.s.sudral, it doesn’t concern us. What I want to know now is, what exactly did Aoluxiya say in your shop?” Samantha redirected the derailed conversation.
“He simply took part in what we call the ‘experience tour’. Nothing else happened.”
“So you admit that you are the shop owner?”
“I am not the owner; I am just an ordinary clerk. With my abilities, how could I possibly be the owner?” Angel twitched the corner of his mouth, chuckling as he tried to gloss over the matter.
Samantha smiled faintly without pressing further but then said, “I actually wonder as well, what magic does this experience tour, that you mentioned, possess to be so welcomed by demons, to the point that even Aoluxiya was attracted to it?”
