"I like seeing you like this Akila. It reminds me of the old days. Now remember we need to extract the magic from your blood. After we're done with you, we'll do the same with you friend here," Josiah said nodding his head towards Charles.
Akila turned her head, "Charles has no magic. I was the only one left in the clan that had magic." Akila looked at Josiah and saw the locket hanging from his pocket. As he was turned away facing Charles she flexed her hand and managed to wrap her finger around the chain. She pulled the locket out of his pocket and clenched it in her hand.
'Well, if he has no magic," Josiah said turning back to Akila, "He can just go back to his cell."

The guard pulling Charles started to walk back out of the room.
"Leave her alone! G.o.dd.a.m.nit! Don't you dare hurt her!" Charles yelled as he was being dragged.
"Shut him the h.e.l.l up and come back here when you're done with him. I've decided to let you all have a little fun." Josiah said grabbing a syringe from the tray and stabbing it into Akila's arm. She winced and felt the blood flow from her body. She watched as Charles dissapeared out of the room and the door slamming shut. A few minutes pa.s.sed and more blood got drawn when the guard returned to them.
"Go get the rest of the guard and return. I'm done here. Do what you want to her," Josiah said squeezing the last bit of blood into the test tubes. He dropped the syringe and walked out of the room. The guard followed him out.
Charles was sitting on the floor of his cell. He had found his vest sitting in the darkest corner. he slid it on and sat, waiting for Akila. He had started to fall asleep and his eyelids grew heavy. He laid down looking up at the ceiling. He had almost fallen asleep when a large group of men ran past. One of them stopped in front of the cell door and said, " We're about to have some fun with your little girlfriend." The man ran off to catch up with the rest. Charles started to feel tears of anger roll down his cheeks. He had started to fall asleep again and this time there was no interruptions. He fell into a deep sleep on the cold, stone floor.
Charles had slept for a long while. It seemed that it was no morning time. He sat up and looked around the room for Akila. He had begun to worry as he had never worried before. Akila was nowhere to be seen. Outside of his cell he heard a jumble of voices and a slight wimper. The cell door opened and Akila was pushed in. She only had a thin blanket around her bare body.
"Go back in your cell, you little s.l.u.t!" A guard yelled at her. The cell door slammed shut and Akila stood, tears streaming down her face. Charles shot straight up and looked at Akila. She c.o.c.ked her head and ran to him. Her arms wrapped around him with the blanket still in her hands. Charles felt her bare body against his chest. He was startled and confused by Akila's actions. He dismissed the thoughts and wrapped his arms around her.
"Charles, I can't do this anymore. I don't wanna live anymore. My magic isn't even working so we have no way out and we're gonna be here forever..." Akila said between sobs. Charles helped Akila to the ground and let go of her.
"Akila, you need to sleep. Lay down. I'll be right here next to you. We'll get out of here somehow, I promise."
Akila laid down and Charles laid down next to her. He placed his arm over her torso. She shook, but accepted the hold. She grabbed Charles's hand and handed him the locket. "I was able to get it from Josiah."
"Akila, this could help us get out of here, but first you need to regain your strength. Go to sleep," Charles said to her, sticking the locket in his pocket. Akila felt her eyelids grow heavy and she muttered one last sentence befoer she fell asleep, "We need to do this tomorrow. he going to kill us in two days."
Charles laid in silence, thinking of a plan to escape. About seven hours had pa.s.sed when Akila woke up again.
"Charles, hand me the locket. I think it's time."
Charles handed Akila the locket and helped put it around her neck.
"Are you sure about this Akila?"
"Yes, I'm sure."
"Okay. Go ahead," Charles told her.
Akila stepped away from Charles and held onto her blanket tightly. She muttered, but nothing happened. She said it again, louder this time. Still nothing.
Akila had gotten frustrated. She was fuming. She yelled, "PYANI!"
