Phoenix's Fated Half 41 Gratitude

Mi Rong who had been supporting grandma Feng was slightly startled when another hand had grabbed hers. The other person's hand was much bigger than hers and was quite cold. It must have been because of the cold weather.

When she looked up, she saw the person she did not expect to see. He had not been back for the past few days and his presence was still very unusual to her. However, seeing all the worries showing in his eyes, she kept quiet. It wasn't a good time to lash out.

They stopped at the steps for a while. She watched him ask how his grandma was and Qing Qing along with Xiao Bai who were running over to them.

"Jun Kai, you're finally here. This old one thought that you'd never come." Grandma Feng felt much more content to see her grandson

"I'm sorry grandma, I had been busy with work. What happened?" Jun Kai replied and asked his grandmother politely.

Qing Qing had already caught up and was now walking by the sides explained, "Great-grandma must have felt dizzy and nearly fell down. If it weren't for Rong jie, she would have not been safe and sound like now." When Qing Qing was talking about Mi Rong, she was in all smiles.

Jun Kai had finally looked up at the other person. This time there was no longer any coldness in his eyes. "Thank you." ...for everything...

Mi Rong awkwardly smiled and replied, "It's no big deal."

Although he had only said just a thank you, it seemed he had some more words to say. However, just with his 'Thank you', it seemed to have such momentum to her and was also very weird hearing Jun Kai saying it to her.

It became quiet for a brief second and Mi Rong became even more awkward with the atmosphere, she then finally remembered about her hand in his. Thus, she slightly pulled her hand back to remind the other person.

Jun Kai only realized that he had been holding onto her hands all this time. He quickly pulled his hands away and then supported his grandma's back, "Ahem, let's get grandma to bed then."

"Yeah, we should." Mi Rong took a quick peek at Jun Kai and could only smile inside, she never would have thought that there was this part to this person as well. However, if she had looked at Jun Kai a little longer, she would have noticed that his ears had turned slightly red.

Qing Qing was slightly puzzled with the mood of the two adults. She decided to bend her back a little to check her great grandma's back and saw that her father's hand was placed below her Rong jie's. It seemed a little too close, she didn't think much about it nor did she know that their hands had been even closer than now. She giggled a little with what she saw and decided to give them some "s.p.a.ce". The little girl made up her own fantasy.

Once they nearly reached the top of the staircase, Qing Qing spoke, "Pa, I'll go wash and wait for you in my bed. Great-grandma, I'll excuse myself first."

Grandma Feng nodded, "Go dear, I've got your dad and Rong-er with me."

"Yes." She then quickly ran up the stairs and did not forget to nudge Xiao Bai to follow her.

Before Xiao Bai left, he telepathed to Mi Rong, "Good luck with him."

Mi Rong only coldly glanced at him before that old guy left. Tsk.

Inside grandma Feng's room

Both Mi Rong and Jun Kai gently laid grandma Feng down on her bed and tucked her underneath a thick warm blanket. Grandma Feng seemed to have fallen asleep when they placed her down on the bed.

They were both looking at grandma Feng on the side of the bed.

Jun Kai decided to ask Mi Rong of grandma Feng's condition. "Sigh, is she alright?" He had long known of Mi Rong's medical skills, thus he had asked her.

It seemed he had some level of trust, nevertheless, it wasn't the most that he could have.

"Yeah, she just needs some rest. It must have been because of the cold weather. I'll try to keep her inside more." Mi Rong only spoke of grandma Feng's condition to him.

Jun Kai replied with a "Hmm."

The room became silent. Jun Kai decided to walk over to his grandma and sat beside her on the bed.

Mi Rong was hesitant to stay or leave, but she could not tolerate the silence any longer, "I'll go check on Qing Qing then."

Jun Kai did not move and only replied with "Hmm." With that, Mi Rong quickly left the room.

When the other person left the room, Jun Kai was still looking at the direction of the door. There seemed to be many thoughts going inside him that he had been staring in the same direction for quite a while.

Grandma Feng gave a peek at her grandson and slightly smiled before quickly shutting them again.

Tsk tsk, this grandson of hers is really slow. This cannot go on, or else who knows who will become her granddaughter in law. Her son is already on the move for searching candidates for her grandson, she can't just let anyone come into her Feng family. That old man would also think the same.

Jun Kai had already put Qing Qing to bed with Xiao Bai lying beneath her bed. He was now enjoying a hot cup of cocoa on his balcony.

The moon was s.h.i.+ning brightly tonight and he felt like catching some cool breeze.

Someone else also had the same thoughts. However, she had her back was facing him. It seemed to be talking on the phone. Without realizing, Jun Kai was already listening and watching the other person on the phone.

"How's the preparation going?"

"Sorry, I couldn't help you out and could only send someone else instead."

"Of course I'm coming tomorrow."

"Grandma Feng and Qing Qing might come, I'll tell them for you."

"Alright good night, see you Xia Yun."

It looked like she was talking with her friend.

Mi Rong turned herself around slowly when their eyes met. She nearly stumbled on her steps, but with a quick change, she lightly balanced herself.

Jun Kai's eyes widened slightly and had taken a step forward when he saw Mi Rong nearly falling over, good thing she did not.

Mi Rong looked up and smiled dryly, "Um, I'll be going to sleep now. Good night."

Jun just softly answered, "Goodnight."

Mi Rong smiled and went back inside.

He was now left alone on his balcony.

However, Jun Kai was still looking over in the direction where the other person had been standing. Only when the lights in the other room turned off, did he go back inside to sleep.
