The adjective latent is a tricky word to define because it refers to something there but not there. That is, latent means something that is capable of becoming active or at hand but has not yet achieved that state". Please take a mental note of the phrase "has not yet," we will refer to it later.
There's something big in you that needs expression. There's a gift inside of you that the world needs. It may produce some great results in humanitarian initiatives, it might provide a cure for cancer or other incurable ailments, or it may enrich you so much you give billions yearly to donor agencies to make the world a better place, and it may bring about the next big invention the world needs. So many great things can happen with divine talents.
Unfortunately, the place with the largest quant.i.ty of unfulfilled potentials is the cemetery.
Why? For a strange reason, the gift in us that will transform our society or immediate environment is always entangled with a situation we loathe so much. You need to be very attentive now.
For example, some of the most powerful public speakers were very shy as kids, they loathed public gatherings. Another example, several accomplished entrepreneurs hated risk taking like a disease. Many athletes who later became world champions were fragile as kids, it took a situation for them to discover what they had inside them. I always like to use personal examples because it's easier that way to convey the message. I hated rejection, I also hated loans, I never wished to owe anyone a dime. But the question is how will you ever be successful in business if you don't learn the art of selling or you don't take loans to fund your business ideas? If you hate rejection, you can never be a successful sales person, if you hate to owe you can never grow beyond a certain limit in business.

For years I battled with these two things, not until I overcame the ill feelings I had towards rejection and debts did I begin to grow my businesses. There is still an ongoing battle concerning loans anyway.
It's funny these days when my clients say things like "your mouth is too sweet", or potential investors or financial inst.i.tutions talk about my courage and presentation. I had to fight and fight to learn how to manage many arrogant patrons/clients and creditors to master the art of the two things I needed as tools to become successful at what I do. Any entrepreneur who can't sell, and also manage clients effectively will never grow. At the same time, you must know how to manage debts, creditors and pay back loans to excel in business. I had to learn these things as loathsome as they were to me in the beginning.
The reason most of us never grew that business or lovely initiative was because we had and still have a bloated impression of self, a caustic self-pride that only brings regression above anything else. Who cares about where you come from or your pride?
Please get o that high horse and pursue your goals and ambitions in life, because if you do not do this as quickly as possible, you will still have to seek favours from the same set of people you were so bothered about their opinion of you when they find out the kind of "small" business you now do.
No one really cares about the source of your legitimate income when you have become successful, what they will always see is the success you radiate. Mr Isaac Durojaiye of blessed memory, also known as Otunba Gada in his life time, made money from supplying and operating mobile toilets. I can imagine what people close to him said at the start of the business, today the same business has become a multi-million-naira industry, that's the power in pursuing what you believe in regardless of what people say or think. Also for the ones who are trying all they can to grow some other initiatives or endeavours outside of trade, supplies or business, maybe an NGO or gospel ministry, do not bother yourself about what anyone thinks in the beginning, once your efforts are n.o.ble, you will eventually become great if you don't lose focus.
All you need is to be upright and straight forward, rest.i.tute appropriately in every of your short coming and errors, be responsible for your actions, accept failure and vow never to make those mistakes that nearly drowned you in your pursuit of success. From the definition of "latent" I provided earlier, it simply means the talent is there for the taking, but it hasn't yet been revealed, so you either overcome the ill feeling or the fear to be all G.o.d has destined you to be or you add to the database of the would haves of life.
I know a lot of people are reading this message, they have such latent talents they continue to suppress for one reason or the other, and they are nodding their heads and stamping their feet on the ground already. For how long will you hide the talent in the closet? You certainly can't do that forever if you are still convinced of the gift you carry within. There are certain questions you need to ask yourself at some point in life if you still loathe the talent within, and the first question is this.
Why Do I Loathe the Talent Within?
Many people have asked themselves this question repeatedly, but this is a question only you can provide answers for because of the complex nature of it, but I can help the best way I can. The main reason why people loathe the hidden talent is because of the hard work required to put the talent to work. It takes a lot of work to express the talent you are so fearful to unearth, and no one can help you except yourself. If you understand this the same way I do, it means three things are involved here: hard work, fear and you. The decision to make the talent work has to be taken by you in the first place, then you have to work on yourself, you have to work on your emotions and thoughts to embrace the work required, after this is to put in physical hard work to make it blossom, because the talent is unique to you most times, so you are the only one that can express it the best way it should be expressed. It requires a lot of work to make it blossom, then you will proceed to conquer fear, the fear of failure, until you do these three things you will not put your gifts to use. I advise you keep working on yourself till you are all you want to become in life.
