"Okay. That's it! I'm going over there and demand to know what they are talking about!" Lannie who has been so impatient suddenly stood up and declared at she is going to reveal herself to Anna and her grandfather.

Before Lannie could even take a step forward, Kyle held her wrist, then forced her back to her seat. "Don't do anything stupid. Grandfather dotes on you a lot, but that doesn't mean he will pardon you for spying on him. And I'm telling you now, I'm not gonna try and save you from him."

"But I'm so curious! I want to know what they are talking about. Is it that hard to understand that I'm dying to know?!" Lannie felt like she's gonna die if she doesn't do anything to at least get a hint of the conversation between the two important people in her life.

"I understand. But you should at least use your brain. As a matter of fact, you can ask Anna later, am I right?" As far as Kyle remembers, Anna and his little sister are staying in the same room for a few more days, and obviously, Lannie has more advantages than him. She can ask Anna whenever she wants to. As for him, she can do the same, but he got the feeling that Anna is not gonna tell him anything because, since the beginning, Anna did not even tell him about this 'meeting.'

Hearing that from her brother, Lannie has this urge to curse at him. "Brother, Anna is like Aaron. They don't easily reveal information just because someone close to them asks. It's hard to get information out of their mouths." Every time that there is something that Lannie wants to know, and the twins are one of the few people who knows about it, she asks them, but their answers are always vague. She tried everything that she can to get a clear answer from them, but it was no use.

Lannie wanted to say more of her complaints about the twins, but an annoying voice prevented her from doing so.

"Kyle!" Lannie looks at the direction where that annoying voice came from, and she regretted looking in that direction. She suddenly felt that her eyes are now tainted because of what she saw.

"What is she doing here? Did you call herhere?" Lannie angrily whispered to her brother.

Veronica Lace, that is the person who just called out her brother's name. Her mother once told her that from time to time, whenever Veronica visits the Robertson mansion, Veronica likes to play with when she was still a baby.

Of course, Lannie has no memory of that, and she is sure that it's a nice thing of Veronica to do. But now that she has grown up and has no recollection of Veronica at all, Lannie doesn't see that nice girl from her mother's story.

The Veronica that is in front of her is making her feel disgusted. Anyone who is smart enough can tell that Veronica is only acting. There is a hint of motives behind that eyes of hers. 'I hate those eyes' She inwardly said.

"Who is she? I don't even know her." The moment Kyle said that Veronica was already right in front of them and heard every word that he said. Lannie is not even sure if she wants to laugh at that comment or mock Veronica in the face.

As for Kyle's comment, he telling the truth. He has no idea who Veronica is, he has already forgotten the face of his childhood friend. And when Veronica visited the Robertson mansion a few days ago, he wasn't present at that time.

"K-Kyle, you are joking, right? I mean, how could you forget aboutme?" Veronica felt like she is about to cry as she asked Kyle. The reason why she visited that Roberton mansion a few days ago is to remind Kyle that she has grown and to make him recognize the woman that she has become.

She was sad that Kyle wasn't present at that time, but she was confident that even though Kyle wasn't there, Kyle will still be able to recognize him if they coincidentally meet. However, who would have thought that her fantasy will be ruined by Kyle's cruel comment.

"Excuse me? I don't know and I don't plan to get to know. So if you will, stop calling my name as if we are close, and please move away." Because Veronica is standing in front of him, Kyle can't see Anna.

Although she heard that, Veronica stood still. She won't believe a single word that came out of Kyle's mouth. She stubbornly believes that Kyle is only messing with her so that she would cry, then he will comfort her.

'Yes! That is what he meant!'

"Uh... Did you not hear a word that my brother just said to you?" If Kyle doesn't remember Veronica's face, Lannie, on the other hand, is pretending that she hardly remembers her.

Veronica silently growled in anger. Ever since she saw Lannie for the first time in a long time, Lannie has been treating unkindly. She has no idea why Lannie is doing that to her, but she does not like it. Right at this moment, all she wants is for Lannie to get out of this place so that she will be all alone will Kyle.

Ignoring Lannie's words, Veronica moved away from her spot and sat right next to Kyle, then she puts her arms around his. That action really surprised both Lannie and Kyle.

Kyle was about to push Veronica away, but Lannie did it before him. "Stay the f*ck away from my brother, you unknown woman."

Kyle was shocked, and could not even say a word of what just happened. He knows that his sister is aggressive, but he has never seen her this aggressive. Without Lannie knowing, Kyle is inwardly complimenting her for protecting him from Veronica.

Veronica gritted her teeth preventing herself from revealing her true nature, then she started to look like a fragile gla.s.s. "Lannie, why did you push me like that? What did I ever do to you? You were so sweet to me back then, but now..."

After Lannie heard that, she's imagining choking Veronica to death in her mind. 'I can't believe her. I didn't even push her away that hard. What a drama queen.' 

For the first time, Lannie actually liked Rebecca's acting. At the very least, Rebecca's acting is not forceful and can actually fool people. The only people who can be fooled by Veronica's acting is the dumbest person in the world.

"You little..." Lannie wanted to continue what she is about to say, but a familiar figure suddenly approached them with an angry expression plastered on his aged face.

"What is the meaning of this ruckus you three are making?" It was Kyle's and Lannie's grandfather. Lannie was startled that they were caught by their grandfather, but she is not afraid of her grandfather at the moment because she's too irritated to feel fear.

Seeing that Elijah is standing right in front of them, Veronica thought of this as her chance to have her revenge on Lannie. "Grandpa Elijah! Lannie is being mean to me! I didn't do anything to her, and yet she's..." 

Back when she didn't leave yet, Elijah was so doting on her, and Veronica is confident that Elijah will stick to her side and scold Lannie for what she did to her.

"Me?! You're trying to blame me? Excuse you! I'm only trying to get out of this table because I don't want you to get near my brother." Lannie is so irritated to the point she really wants to slap Veronica's annoying face. Even now, Lannie is starting to conclude that Veronica is simply stupid just any other girls flocking around her brother.

'Why can't she just take a hint?! Is she blind or what?! Obviously, my brother is not even looking at her.' Lannie inwardly commented.

Veronica took a slight glance at Elijah and she saw the there is no change in his expression. She concluded that if say one more word, Elijah will start scolding Lannie. "Lannie, the last time I saw you, you were an angel. I can't believe you turned out to be like this. Kyle! Do something about your sister. She's being mean to me." She originally planned not to involve Kyle's name, but at the situation right now, Veronica believes that Kyle is smart enough to be on his grandfather's side, which means, Kyle will also be on her side.

When Kyle stood up, Veronica actually thought that Kyle is about to do something to Lannie, but to her surprised Kyle went in front of a girl that she has never seen before. A beautiful girl at that. Immediately, Veronica already didn't like her.

She did not hear a word of what Kyle said to that girl, but she is sure that it was sweet and gentle. A side of Kyle that she has not yet experienced since the moment she and Kyle met again.

Lannie saw where Veronica is staring at and she could not help but smirk wickedly. "Heh. Do you really think you're my brother's special someone? Dream on!"
