"OK... Ok.. I don't make fun of you and the old man," agreed Cheng as he tried to cool off the rest of his brothers into not mocking and poking fun in case the old man cast a curse on them instead.
"Eh, what can you do with your Third Eye? I heard the old man talked about dying." queried Ding as he looked at me curiously. "Nothing much, it just helped me to see clearly and opened up my mind about other matters of the supernatural world," I added and a.s.suring them that nothing would happen and only me had the ability to see things normal people see.
"Boy, the Keris I see now." pointed Master to the Keris behind my back. "This is my Father's. He left it for me." I commented as I handed it to him.
He weighed the keris and raised an eyebrow. When he unsheathed the keris, I can see a slight throbbing from it. Using the Third Eye subconsciously, it seems that the keris was emitting a slight glow and throbbing as like it has its own heartbeat. Faint but noticeable using the Third Eye.
"Keris power small. Long time no bathe," the old man explained and I really find it hard to comprehend. "Bathe?" I asked. "Yes, with bathe Sampaguita* and smoke ceremony," the old man muttered while holding the hilt and turning the keris to one side and then the other.
No other words could describe that moment as I was truly lost at what the h*ll this old man is muttering about giving the keris a bathe with Sampaguita and then a smoke ceremony?!?
At this moment I became 'blurr like sotong'* and really cannot describe or have the faintest idea on what this old man was talking about. I guess he had pa.s.sed his prime time and had gone senile already.
"Come....." the old man gestured to me and the rest of the brothers followed me as well. We then headed towards his house.
The old man goes to his house and placed the keris in the middle of the verandah. The gestured all of us to sit and he then disappeared inside the house. From the position we were sitting, we are able to caught glimpses of the old man and his wife ambling about in the kitchen.
He reappeared in a while and brought a large green lime, a few bloomed Sampaguita flowers and a bronze bowl of clear liquid on a rectangular tray. A short while later his wife, came and brought a large clay incense burner with some burning pieces of charcoal and some crystalline rocks or stones and placed it alongside him.
The items were arranged in such a manner that the incense burner was set in the middle and the bowl of clear liquid beside it. The rest of the items were scattered with no preference.
"Now bathe. Properly see. You do every 2 weeks. Good?" he pointed to us to perform the bathe every 2 weeks. Ok, I understand and nodded in acknowledgment.
He first took out the keris from the sheath slowly and gently. He then placed the sheath diagonally across the incense burner. Then he placed the keris on top of the bowl and looked at it as if the keris was 'communicating' with him somehow.
Then he picked up the keris by the hilt and used the lime and slice it on one side of the keris into half but not thoroughly cutting it through. Then he flipped the keris and ran the uncut side alongside the keris as he had done earlier.
By now the keris had already cut the lime into half. I glanced and saw the three brothers looking at the old man's handling of the keris with awe with their lips forming the shape of an 'O'.
He took a slice of lime and he rubbed the keris in one direction from the hilt to the tip once. Flipping the keris again, he repeated with the other slice of lemon. Afterward, using one bloom of Sampaguita flower, he sort of caressed the blade following the wavy curve from the hilt to the tip. He then dropped the used Sampaguita into the bowl. Next, he then repeated the same procedure on the other side of the keris as well.
I saw a somewhat glittering pattern on the keris; as if the old man was twisting the blade around in his wrist with the glare of the sun reflecting on it as if the keris had its own apparition. The keris' surface shown as if it was just recently forged with the visibility of its intricate patterns on the surface makes it screams to the owner as if saying, "Hey hooman, I've already taken a bath, how about you," I think spending hours writing this novel and proofreading it makes me go bonkers.
Hmm... So back to the story
After the old man had performed the initial cleansing of the keris, he placed it on top of the bowl and dribbled the clear liquid off from the bowl and on sides of the keris from the hilt to the tip. Once he had done so, he placed the keris on the ground alongside the sheath.
He reached out for the incense burner and placed it directly in front of him. He pushed aside the bowl with the clear liquid and took one of the crystalline rock and place it right in the middle of the embers. Suddenly a thick whitish grey smoke emitted from the burning coals.
He took the keris and made some moves within the billowing smoke from the incense burner; moving it a bit as if he was plying the keris in and out of the smoke. He then dropped a few more pieces of the crystalline rocks inside the embers and more smoke came out of it. All four of us cannot help but notice the sweet pungent smell that emanates from the smoke.
Suddenly my Third Eye caught something extraordinary within the smoke above the keris. The smoke was initially billowing upwards when suddenly it took an apparition that resembles like an old bearded man between the rising smoke and the blade.

"Old sage, awaken, are you? Present yourself. Your owner seeks guidance." said the old man in a low voice, as if he was whispering to the keris and the apparition within to appear before me.
There were Oohs and Aahs from the three brothers as they watched the sudden apparition before them in awe.
" Young man, I am the sage that lives within your keris which happens to be home. This keris was a combination of a yellow metal that is lighter than water and a fang from the legendary Woolf .it was forged using the coals from Mount. the metals were tempered for 7 days, 7 nights, 7 hours and 7 minutes and 7 seconds in according to the people from the Statistics Department.
Sorry, I mean to say from the people of that particular part of Mountain area.
"So that now I had appeared in front of you and was summoned by the old Master, I demand a bucket of Crispy and Spicy 7 pieces of chicken in a bucket from KFC on every Thursday night between 7 in the evening and midnight."
"Eh...wrong again. Just a piece of Roasted Chicken Whole Thigh weekly on Thursday evening between 7 in the evening and midnight, I also demand a shower just like this, but if you could make it better with maidens at my side then I would be much obligated."
"Oh yeah. Keep up with my demands and sooner I would be of great service to you."
With that, the apparition of the old sage disappeared with a poof and ended at the hilt of the keris. "Hot d.a.m.n! This sage is like as if I owe my whole life to it, Every Thursday night demand for Roasted Chicken Thigh while I had never eaten that for the past few da...err life. What specials does the old sage provide rather than giving food every week and bathing every fortnight?"
Suddenly, the apparition appeared again but this time it stuck out its tongue and swiftly went back to the hilt.
"Your mother lah...!" I exclaimed loudly and this made the brothers start literally laughing their heads off.
