The doctors had placed some common items on the bed for Akira to recognise and tell them what they are and what's their purpose such as a stethoscope, a glucometer and some other known medical equipment.

She was able to name them and they took out her personal stuff from her bag and laid them before her. She had some of the toiletries in a small purse as well as the paperback novel and the heart-shaped origami with a photo of us together and her mobile phone that was switched off to conserve its battery. A Jersey with the No. 7 imprinted on it was also inside her bag. And this while she was holding on to it like its worth a few million yen!!!

She flipped through her toiletries' contents and left it aside after a while. She picked the paperback novel and looked at the laminated photo of us together and held the heart-shaped origami that was the same colour as the wrappings in the photo.

She held it in her hands as she looked at the photo and then looked at me as if she was trying to remember something. She picked up her paperback novel and somehow reading the t.i.tle made her bite her lips to suppress the surmounting feelings within her. She flipped the cover and read my handwritings in glitter ink.

She looked at me long enough for me to notice a tear forming in her eyes. The paperback novel t.i.tled "I'll be waiting for you on the other side" seemed to have an impact on her as she held the book close to her chest.

"So this boy... Who had been in hospital every single day while I was in the coma is actually someone I knew deeply and is also my boyfriend... But I have no recollection but I felt as if I am attached to him in some ways...and this t-s.h.i.+rt smelled somewhat familiar and why it is in the possession of my bag... "

Akira's thoughts raced as she kept glancing at me then to her aunt and back to her paperback novel. She took her Docomo phone; flipped it open and switched the device ON. After the sound of the starting device has ended, the first thing she saw on her wallpaper was this boy and her again... This time; smiling rather silly at the camera as we both were sharing an ice cream together as if our lips were almost touching.

She blushed a deep red and scrolled down to the gallery and found a lot of photos of her and me. She let out a tiny laugh when she happened to find a funny picture of me or us together. She looked up at me with a teardrop that was precariously hanging at the corner of her eye.

"Are you really what I think it is; through all the pictures in this gallery folder on my phone? It looked that we have been together for some time but I have no recollection of it at all now... Would you please help me to regain my memories back with you? In the photos, it seemed that you and I have a lot of things going on and I wanted all the memories back so I won't regard you as a stranger at all... "

I saw that her eyes were jerking the tears back and she wiped it off with the back of her hand. Her aunt sitting next to her sat next to her bedside and placed an arm around her shoulders and looked at me approvingly. She finally knew from her niece that my love and undivided attention to her niece was true.

"Thank you, s.h.i.+ro... For accompanying me while I was here from the first day till now, and thank you again for your time spent before and after school and also for the beautiful song that you played on the guitar. I know for somehow I was meaningful to you and you are also meaningful to me before I land in this amnesic state."

Akira extended her hand to me, looked a bit uncertain as she looked at my face and my hands... Half expecting it to retract hers in fear or rejection while I slowly walked to her leftmost side from her bed, and extended my hand and held hers in a handshake. I almost wanted to grab her shoulders and hug her tightly there and then but it might scare her off.

She then said, "h.e.l.lo... My name is Akira As.h.i.+teru and I am from Asahigaoka Senior High School. Its a pleasure to meet you and please take good care of me, Senpai!"

I held out my hand as well and held it tightly in mine while I replied, "h.e.l.lo As.h.i.+teru-chan... My name is s.h.i.+ro Takas.h.i.+maya and I am, too from Asahigaoka Senior High School. I was the captain of the Futsal team but I quit some time back ever since your accident. It is a great pleasure to meet you As.h.i.+teru-chan and YES I will gladly take good care of you and you to take good care of me as well... "

I didn't release my outstretched hand when I shook hers but after awhile Akira let it go slowly right till it slowly slips out of each other's fingers. She then clasps it next to her chest as if she was trying to calm her racing heart the moment we touched right till we released our handshake.

"I want to know more about this boy... I can't help my heart that's been racing and wanting to jump out of my chest. I feel that I wanted to reach out and let him hug me but I'm afraid that I might also push him away... This boy seemed to have a significant impact on my life, before, now as well as the future."

Akira seemed to be clouded with hope, antic.i.p.ation, confusion as well as a desire to learn more about me and our relations.h.i.+ps but she knew she would get the answers slowly through the SMS contents.

Akira bowed her head slightly again and expressed her heartfelt thanks to me again.

The doctors around concluded that I need to continue my visitation daily to help Akira to regain her memories. They discussed it with Akira's aunt and she had no questions whatsoever against their suggestions.

The doctors informed Akira's aunt that since Akira had regained her consciousness, she might be moved to a common 2 bedded or 4 bedded ward instead to reduce the cost of the medical and hospitalisation fees. Hearing those suggestions, I intervened and told the doctors to use the funds that were available through the crowdfunding. If it is insufficient, I would top it off by acc.u.mulating it every month.

The doctors looked at Akira's aunt again and she simply nodded her head at my intervention. Her aunt faced me and bowed once more.

A nurse came to me and whispered that there are some teachers and the Princ.i.p.al and Vice Princ.i.p.al were waiting for me at the cafeteria. I nodded and told them that I would be coming right after this.

I went over to Akira's side and tapped her head lightly; and as I walked away, my arm was suddenly held back. I looked who it was and it was Akira's and she said: "Never Let Go". I tried sniffling silently as a smile broke out on my face; I told Akira that I would be back, as I slowly turned and head to the cafeteria downstairs to meet with the rest of the teaching staffs.
