If one were observing this old woman's presence there was definitely a strange aura around her. A descriptive mind perhaps would refer to the feeling of tranquility and serenity which it brought.
On numerous occasions, a squad would be but a hair's breadth away yet by their reactions it appeared no one was there. At all times they would suddenly have the impulse to patrol elsewhere.
From all appearances, nothing which unfolded at the present time within the sect was of interest to her. Soon however her gaze pierced into the distance where her intrigue lied.
Plop! Plop!
Two sounds could be heard to her sides, they were apparent feet that had landed. The new arrivals a beauty with fiery hair and an old man who too seemingly was near the end of his days.
"...are our suspicions confirmed?"
She uttered without any form of surprise at the two newcomers.
"Yes, Grand elder from all indication the events which unfolded in Starlight City were due to the work of Devils. It is confirmed the purple arms were that of a Devil's contract."
Old Norton responded with his head bowed somewhat in reverence. Still, the Grand elder looked in the distance as if awaiting the arrival of a party.
"After two decades of hiding, they now have come out into the light. I wonder what could possibly be the reason."
The fiery-haired Denaria interjected as this whole scenario seemed somewhat strange.
There have been no recent sightings of a Devil within the Chu country or the surrounding areas for the past twenty years.
This due to a ma.s.s exercise after the foiled attempts of a group of devils conducting a ritual sacrifice in the Zen province. A few million had died even though the ritual had not been completed, most at the time were that of low-level cultivators and a few above. To this day some parts of that province are deemed uninhabitable.
Yet it was a small price considering the hundreds of millions who would have died had it been successful. It is believed at the time the true motive of the devils was to encompa.s.s the entire Chu Country and surrounding areas.
The saviors at that time had been the almighty beings who held dominion over The Chu country and thirty-five others. This is the Lording Country known by all as Axus under the control of the Axus clan.
Once more Denaria continued with some anxiety within her voice by saying,
"For them to be this bold surely means there has been a change in the previous situation. This spells trouble for all sects and clans within the vicinity."
"Calm down Denaria, I've always taught you the value of a calm mind. What is the use in panicking as you are now?"
Finally, the grand elder spoke as she reprimanded the elder who still kneeled before her. Even when scolding Denaria her tone was calm still awaiting her visitors atop the walls.
"My apologies Grand Elder."
Hearing her master's words Denaria realizing her fault took a breath before hurriedly apologizing for lack of composure.
"There are telling signs of their actions. To move in the shadows as they have speaks volumes.
Well let's not make the mistakes of the past, therefore whatever is in our sphere of control will be handled. In regards to everything else, we'll follow as protocol dictates."
With a commanding presence, the grand elder gave a glimpse into her insight on the matter.
She then continued while sighing,
" Relay this message, in three days all elders are expected within the Baresath Halls for a meeting. There will be no exemption from this. For the time being, I will take the role of Acting Sect Head."
Hearing the words of the Grand Elder both Old Norton and Denaria were somewhat startled by this new revelation.
However, the reasoning behind this decision became quite evident in their minds.
"It has arrived at such a stage? Surely there must be some remedy available to counter this ailment. She is just a child after all."
With a bit of sadness and a tinge of anger within her voice, Denaria made her thoughts known.
With some understanding of the situation, Old Norton interjected,
"In this world, I am sure there has not been a stone that has been left unturned by her father.
No parent wants to bury their child, it should be an unwritten rule of destiny to follow as such."
He continued mumbling a few words under his breath which surmised his thoughts.
" [Heaven if you are as such, Make not flesh of my own wither before mine own eyes. At the time of my pa.s.sing allow me to bask in the thought of my future once more prospering.]
The turmoil being endured by the Sect Head must be unimaginable at this moment. It is the right decision to have a step back for a bit and enjoy whatever time he has with her."
Seemingly in total agreement with the decision made Old Norton ended by saying. As all made their thoughts known the Grand Elder remained silent lost within her own.
In some ways, there was a heart-wrenching pain every time she saw that little girl. In all honesty, there should have been improvements to her condition after periodically ingesting the medicine that was concocted by her and that old b.a.s.t.a.r.d.
However, strangely she became worse every time. Now it had reached a point that death was a certainty. It truly pained her having built up his hope for his baby to live to once more see it fall apart.
" With Victor out of commission for the time being your roles have become even more important. He has put his faith in us to take over in his stead. Let's not let that trust be misplaced. As for our two new arrivals. Allow me to have a bit of a chat with them in private, won't you?"
Hearing the words spoken by the grand elder both Denaria and old Norton instinctively looked in the distance before taking their cue to leave and just as they came went in a flash.
Soon the grand elder regained her focus looking In the distance where she saw a red feathered eagle. Upon its back, there were two teens both with different features. One a male with a head of dreads and the other a female with hair of silver cascading down.
"So we finally meet you little rascals."
She uttered under her breath with signs of a bit of expectancy..
