?Forty Minutes Prior?

Outside of the forest, the board was truly a great source of entertainment as the gambling intensified. Most disciples had exited and held keen information on the happening inside. Hence stories were being told but the ones which truly drew crowds in the thousands were accounts of Sir Mouse and his companion, the silver-haired May.

These were truly riveting tales highlighting how the two were undaunted by any seeming obstacle. Amidst each word spoken pictures formed in everyone's mind of the ruthless duo who unbelievably fought by their lonesome.

"You're saying he took on twenty, including yourself and Austin?" A woman wearing a broad-hat questioned. She was amazed when August the previous year's #55th regaled tales about his confrontation with Sir Mouse.

Not only her but all gasped at the teen's confidence in his abilities. Yet as the stories unfolded there were many who started to question the legitimacy of their Dark Abylis Sect's disciple status. Things just did not add up in their minds.

Some even started to suspects these were two disciples from a powerful sect within the Axus Country. Perhaps they merely visited in order to show how weak beings from subordinate countries were. However, it was quite easy to get a confirmation of this information with Malnor, Malgrey, and the rest of the two's squad.

After being eliminated most of squad Malgrey were together in a small-nit group. From what could be seen they weren't that surprised regarding the performances of their fellow members presently active. Previously they had swiftly separated from the mob who bombarded them with questioned as though they were celebrities.

This would, of course, be flattering if the majority of the inquiries were not centered on Niesha and especially the power couple, Taf and May. After a point, they had simply stopped taking questions as it became too overwhelming.

Despite this, there were a few exceptions. With a few flirtatious words spoken some of the males filled with liquor, let's say became more soft-hearted.

"What Lunacy do you speak of? Of course, my brother is a disciple of our beloved sect through and through. If you cut him right at this moment he would bleed black. That is how firmly he is embedded in the sect,"

Lovren having obviously gotten over his fear of conversing with the opposite s.e.x, spoke confidently about his seeming 'best friend' Taf. With liquor in his hand, he happily vouched for Taf's validity. He was surrounded by his new girlfriend Sheila and her squadmates of only females.

As Sheila watched him, she played the role of a proud girlfriend. Nevertheless, she wasn't foolish and had quickly deduced that Lovren was not the character he was made out to be by Taf.

When they conversed he was not deep or mysterious as she imagined. It could be said she was disappointed after this revelation as Taf really did paint the picture of the perfect man in her mind.

At the time unaware that sheila was seeing through the facade, Lovren had tried to convey this persona yet his acting skill was quite subpar and cracks began to further show.

It was then that Sheila decided that some investigation must be done into this whole story. Which was made quite easier with the tournament being such an effortless means to gather information.

Sheila when learning the truth had thoughts of perhaps confronting him for having played her like a fool. However, when she saw how his squad was creating such headlines each day, there was a moment of clarity. Then she happened to learn that the one who had played matchmaker was one of two geniuses who rivaled Jason in talent.

When first meeting him sheila was drawn to Taf's confidence, she knew not of his talent still in her mind, there was a synergy. Yet every time she started to think favorable of him, he would do something ungentlemanly while building up who she now knew was Lovren.

Having always been prideful of her beauty she became a bit dejected as he only saw her fit for his friend. Was she that unattractive in his eyes?

An image of May, a beauty with cascading silver hair, his girlfriend formed in her mind. It was at this moment that Sheila felt even more inferior in more ways than one. May seemed quite perfect in appearance and talent, it could be seen why Taf only saw it as a game at the time.

It didn't take long for Sheila to get a hold of herself. Why was she even having these thoughts and becoming jealous of someone who didn't even know of her existence?

She then looked to Lovren with a smile while trying to keep her mind away from another topic. As he boasted about Niesha, Lovren spoke of how she was like his big sister with pride in his voice.

Yet Sheila found no matter how she tried to keep her mind clear it failed so miserably as Taf's image kept popping up inside. Quickly She was brought out of the fantasy when realizing there was now only silence around her.

This was quite the feat with a crowd spaning in the tens of thousands. Then she gazed on the board only to see the names dimmed:

Rank #21 - [Marker Points - 5100] - Sal Cruz- Squad s.h.i.+noda - Eliminated

Rank #19 - [Marker Points - 6232] - Bruttus Dous - Squad s.h.i.+noda - Eliminated

Rank #11 - [Marker Points - 9321] - Garro Murr - Squad s.h.i.+noda - Eliminated

More than half of the second most powerful squad was eliminated before the third day had even begun. Be that as it may, that was not what brought the silence, it was the two whose name became lit at the top of the board creating further distance.

Rank #2 - [Marker Points - 38910] - May Grace - Squad Malgrey - Active

Rank #1 - [Marker Points - 42400] - Tafari - Squad Malgrey - Active

At this point, doctors would be the only ones with huge smiles on their faces with the number of patients coming in with cases of lockjaw. Before everyone thought the two's ceiling had been reached yet now they realized they still had underestimated them.

What type of drug were they taking? Surely the moment they were born instead of breast milk they were fed elixirs, and by the time they could have solid food only ate cultivation pills. Simply put it was now at the point where things had gotten too absurd.

This was the general consensus as it could be said Garro was only a hairbreadth apart from the fifth-place Cedra in strength. Yet the two dispatched of him and the other two members of squad s.h.i.+noda in a manner of minutes. Could it be possible that within the forest the only ones able to contend with two fifteen-year-olds were three half-step Lords?

All were stunned except for a select few who weren't as surprised by the two. It was all the members of squad Malgrey who knew the true strength of the two. Still, they were told by Niesha that Taf and May's strengths were suppressed by the grand elder. Therefore shouldn't they appear a bit more normally in their performances?

"Maybe the Grand Elder had a change of heart," Ava stated. There was not much confidence in her a.s.sumption based on Ava's tone and neither did the other believe this to be true. Yet this perhaps was the only plausible explanation.

When previously hearing of the two's cultivation they had thought it was all due to the bracelets suppression. Little did they know that the bracelet had nothing to do with cultivation, limiting only battle strength. Therefore what they saw was the two's actual cultivation.

With the many questions that were brought by these turns of events, the preliminaries became an afterthought in most minds. There was an expectancy to see these two in action with their positions now firmly placed in the top ten.

??????

The morning had arrived and within May's s.p.a.ce stone winds intensified in one particular area. Neisha could be seen camouflaged in a spherical ball of wind with her broad sword drawn. From her soft skin droplets of sweat dripped on the gra.s.s laden floor below her.

Her movements were swift as with each attack an unyielding determination could be seen in her eyes.

"How long has she been at it?" Taf yawned as he inquired of May who watched Niesha from the distance. He gave her a thermos which May graciously accepted with a smile.

"All night actually. She hasn't slept a wink, whole constantly changing her sword technique."

May stated quite impressed with Niesha's level of determination even when still carrying slight injuries from her battle with Rita,

"From what you have seen can she possibly defeat Rita if given the opportunity?"

This was a worry for May. They had only allowed Rita to leave as a means to rid the mark left on Niesha's self-confidence. After her words, Taf took a moment before stating boldly,

"She has no chance if this her planned battle tactic." Hearing Taf's proclamation May remained silent for a bit. She watched as Niesha unleash her strength of a full circle qi realm, noting even the #9th Garro was inferior. Yet Rita was somewhat peculiar and even May felt she could not gauge her actual strength.

When she and Taf had met this Rita in the swamps, her qi level felt as though it was at the seventh Qi condensation. Now however she was like them not emitting an ounce of qi, which meant she was even harder to read.

However, in Taf's words, it seemed he had gathered some insights into her secrets. Therefore May was a bit pitiful for her friend not wanting to see the same result unfold once more.

"Don't worry as Rita's little secret could also be her undoing. All Niesha has to do is to learn from her previous battle. Sometimes our enemies' weaknesses are in plain sight yet we fail to observe them." Taf stated while watching the unrelenting Niesha.

"You won't tell her will you?" May read Taf's underlined meaning, knowing in his own way this was a means of kindness.

"Nope, I won't. Remember this is her fight, not ours," He then confirmed as they watched Niesha turned everything around her into a seeming wasteland with her wind element. Though a bit conflicted May knew this was perhaps what was best...
