"Oh! It's you , my dear. I guess this was your first baby picture. Look at how cute and small you were."
Holding this photo, Mia felt unfamiliar sensation burning inside her. Was she the baby in the picture? Was she look this serene when she was small? Who was she look alike? She could see the smiliarities between her and both adopted parents. She inherited both of their features but why she was not their biological child? Could it be that her real parents were one of her foster parents' relatives? But she had never met any of them and neither her adopted parents told her. Moreover, Aunt Su said that she was so cute but why her real parents chose to abandon her? Were they hate her? Then why she bother to look for them? Was she gonna be satisfied or happy when she finally reunited with them? All of these thoughts raised her curiosity more.
"Aunt Su , can I ask you something ?"
"Yes my dear. Anything."
You knew my parents from the beginning of their marriage. Do you know how my parents had me? I mean ... uh ... "
"About your adoption is it?"
"You knew about it?"
"Your mother did send me an email stating her wish to have an adopted child since she had problem to conceive her own child but afterwards I didn't know the details. Once in a awhile she would send me some pictures of you. I guess she didn't want you to grow up with difficulties if other people know about your circ.u.mstances hence she totally disregard the fact that you didn't carry their bloodlines. After all , all of this are not important. Their loves towards you is the only thing that matter. Don't you think so ?"
"Yeah that's so true but Aunt Su ... I ..."
"You want to find out who are your biological parents?"
Mia could only nod her head while looking downwards. She felt guilty but her curiosity was overwhelmed.
"If that's what you want then go ahead. I believe your parents would understand your decision if they are still alive right now. We , humans , naturally are bound with our past. No matter how far we run away from it , there's still an invisible bond that attach us with it so there is nothing wrong with you trying to find out your biological parents."
"Thank you Aunt Su. I wonder if you still kept my mother's email? Maybe I could find some clue through what she had written to you."

Aunt Su just smiled to her like she gave her fullest support to Mia's decision to look for her real parents.
"I think I still have them. I'll send them to you once I've found them. No worries. All is well. Have faith in yourself, my dear."
In response to the love she received from this lady who she just met, Mia hug Aunt Su out if grat.i.tude. She felt grateful to meet with this kind woman. At least there was another person that could help her in this searching. Mother and Father truly had a wonderful friend and with this thought she missed them so much and suddenly something triggered in her mind.
" Ermm... Aunt Su, didn't you say that you're father's childhood friend and my mother's colleague then I bet you know more about their past . Father and Mother didn't talk about them much. I guess three of us are really reserved family. We rarely talk about ourselves to each other. I knew that mother came from a very humble background. I didn't pry into their past after I found out that mother was an orphan. Rather than forcing them to share about them, I chose let them voluntarily told me but in the end I didn't know much. "
Sadness gushed over her again. Although she grew up very well, there were many things that she was lacking of but she never complained to her adopted parents. Even when she was being bullied, they didn't know about it at all as she kept everything to herself. Because of this , her adopted parents may not know the sufferings she has to bear alone by herself.
"West City is very a big land but not so many places that are fully developed. Your father and I came from a very remote area in South West Land (SW) . Our home had been demolished long time ago after we were forced to move out and migrated to here. Meanwhile your mother grew up here in North West Land (NW). As you know, your mother was an orphanage. So she didn't have any family aside from the children in orphanage home."
"Then how about father's parents? They never brought me to meet any of them."
"Your father is quite a rebellious son. Instead of following his family to the main city, he chose to stay here. I guess he also had lost contact with his family. Mr and Mrs Wilson only had two sons and your father is the youngest. His older brother is roughly two or three years older than him. His name is Dave."
"Do you know where are they now?"
"Probably still in the main city. I'll ask about them more through my contacts later. Maybe they know your grandparents' current whereabouts."
Aunt Su's willingness to bring her lighted up a glitch of happiness in Mia.
"Thank you Aunt Su! I'm sorry to have burdened you so much."
"You're welcome! Didn't I say that I'll take care of you on behalf of your mother so as long as I can do it for you then it won't be such a burden. Moreover, I also don't have other things to do since I already retired."
"How come mother can live with you before she and father got married?"
"At first, your mother worked at the orpahanage she grew up but soon the place couldn't afford to pay her so she had to find a job outside. Given her talents, she managed to land the job as the editor's a.s.sistant and the editor happened to be this house's landlord. So the editor gave the shelter to your mother and I ended up sharing this house with her before I've enough saving to buy this house."
" Aunt Su, do you think I can find some clues if I visit mother's orphanage? Maybe I also an orphan who was left there and mother happened to adopt me? Even if that's the case, the orphanage must at least keep some records about me. "
"If you think so then go ahead. Your mother didn't tell me much about your adoption but considering her background, that's probably the most logical a.s.sumption. We can go there tomorrow if you want my dear. You sleepover at my place while I tell you more about your parents."
Her heart bloomed into a fresh flower when she heard Aunt Su's suggestions. Today was her luck. At first, she thought that after visiting her adopted parents' graves, she would come back with heavy heart but it turned the other way around. She even b.u.mped into her mother's close friend who was so kind and lovely and she knew about her parents more. On top of that, she got useful info to start off her searching.
