One by one, I tossed the pitiful-looking potatoes into the pot, having crushed them earlier during the harvest.
I could still use them to make mashed potatoes, and since there was a recipe for this, the task fell under the cooking category, letting me earn PT as a result. It's basically killing two birds with one stone. Bright and early tomorrow, let's make my speciality potato salad. I'd finally have a use for the parsley too.
After lightly rinsing off the soil from the surplus potatoes, I stored them away in the underground warehouse. There should be around sixty if I didn't count wrong. A good harvest, considering I had neglected the potatoes earlier.
“Does the coffee not suit your taste?” I said, pausing in mas.h.i.+ng the potatoes to look at the hero.
I couldn't help but flash a wry smile as his face twisted into a mortified expression, a mouthful of coffee the culprit. He was definitely forcing himself to swallow.
“…Is this medicine?”
To hear him say this with such a serious expression troubled me, to say so the least. Coffee was such a useful thing. Kept you awake, helped you maintain a healthy bladder and all.
“It's something people enjoy for the bitter tang and aroma. A luxury of sorts. Ah, I drink it as well."
“Do you like this kind of thing?”
“Yes. I drink it everyday. It's almost an addiction.”
Grabbing my mug, I gulped down the rest of the black liquid. If he made such complicated expression with a cup of coffee, what would happen on the day I served him natto?
“Addiction?”
“Ah, no, I'm joking! That's right, what is Sig's favorite drink?” Noticing the deep creases between the hero's brow, I tried to change the topic.
“Sake, or plain hot water.”
Plain hot water? What were you, an old man?
I cleared my throat, trying to keep myself from bursting into laughter. Then I flashed him a bright smile, uttering a "that sounds nice,” before returning to my potato-crus.h.i.+ng operation.
Since he liked liquor, maybe we could have an aperitif during dinner. Of course, other than that Rosé Wine, which sounded too similar to that huge earthworm's name.
…What a relief. It seemed like our relations.h.i.+p was going pretty well.
Previously, G.o.d had said the hero and I would definitely get along once I talked to him.
To be honest, I was completely overwhelmed by him during the morning. It might have been his aura, this unique atmosphere around him.
Since G.o.d had mentioned he was a hero, I was nervous, wondering whether he would be a strict person. I wasn't a tough person from the start, so if he had treated me harshly with that beautiful face, my heart would have surely shattered.
But my expectations were dashed. The hero was willing to do manual labour and worried about me often… I kept receiving his good will ever since last night.
A gentle and reliable hero. I felt glad that he was the owner of this miniature garden.
Without me knowing it, the corners of my lips had tilted upward. But who cared about that now? The hero was currently in the bathroom.
We managed to have a hot bath tonight thanks to him.
After seeing me in high spirits at the sight of hot water, he let me have the first turn in the bathtub. Finally, I was able to enjoy a hot bath after so many days without one.
But because of this, I couldn't help but feel sleepy now.
I was only recording yesterday's balance in my notebook, but my eyes felt so heavy―
Since there had been no significant PT expense yesterday, I postponed it and checked my rewards first.
First of all, I managed to save a little PT after cooking breakfast with ingredients sent through the delivery box. There were now more than a hundred recipes added for each category. It could be considered a large amount. In the future, I'd make meals using the vegetables I planted in order to raise my cooking level.
My rank for both fetching water and chopping firewood was C. In other words, the reason why I could take a bath tonight was completely thanks to the hero. He should already have the highest ranks for both drawing water and chopping wood, right? Even I would evaluate his skill in chopping wood today as satisfactory.
After that, the only problem is this Share a Bed task…
[Share a Bed: 2000 * 8 = 16000 PT]
The counter was increasing.
Since this was yesterday's record, I should have received this PT reward as I had been tossing and turning with a fever. I had no recollection of it, but I was sure I had been tossing and turning a lot. Maybe this was what disturbed the hero's sleep?
There was another problem.
Before the Share a Bed task, there was a record of something else I did not remember doing. Looked like another notification had overwritten it, so I didn't notice it until now.
[Tender Care Rank B: 6000 * 1 = 6000 PT]
Uh huh… Tender care, huh? I received this task and reward in the past as well. But this should be considered a bug, right?
After all, I really didn't remember what I did to earn these PT rewards. I double-checked the record. Back then, when I had wiped down the hero, the task was only Rank C.
Now, it was Rank B. The evaluation increased by a level.
So scary. What did I do to get 6,000 PT in one go?
“That's right, I should check my status screen!"
And the moment I did, I almost let out a scream.

Minoru: W-what the heck is this t.i.tle!? A bug!? (>0<>
Sig, the source of Minoru's stress: Hmm? Wivey is in distress? щ(゜ロ゜щ) Maybe he is embarra.s.sed about what happened last night? ( ˶ ❛ ꁞ ❛ ˶ )
