Sig headed to the gra.s.sland at the edge of the forest. There, a large tree stretched towards the sky.
“This is a tree that delivers our prayers to G.o.d. I'm relieved it's growing well."
“To G.o.d? Huh…”
Was it like a radio tower? Maybe I should try contacting G.o.d from here next time.
Fortunately, the tree grew close to the house. It was located past the eastern forest, in an open gra.s.sland. It's shape was similar to a fir.
My stare was fixed at the top of the tree when Sig called to me from behind. As I turned my head to him, Sig's nervous eyes met with mine.
"When will that person cross over the bridge?"
His sudden question surprised me, and I put my guard up. “Err, sorry… I'd need to ask G.o.d to know that…”
Oops. I accidentally mentioned G.o.d.
“That's true, but I want to hear what you think." Sig didn't seem to care, however.
What a relief…
Even so, I already knew what I "thought."
The moment that person, his wife, arrived, it would be time for me to leave.
“…I want to welcome them as soon as possible.”
When the time came, I would say goodbye to Sig and the chickens, huh? In the end, it felt a little lonely.
Contrary to my sadness, Sig's eyes sparkled with joy. What an honest person. Completely oblivious to others' feelings.
Somehow, I grew relaxed looking at his innocent expression.
"To that end, let's make this a good place to live, Sig."
“Yeah, that's right.”
We looked at each other, laughter spilling from our lips.
Afterwards, Sig took hold of my hand again and we made our way back home. Once we stepped foot out of the forest, his grip tightened.
"…Will there be only one person coming?"
My eyes widened at the unexpected words, and I whipped around to look at his face. "Isn't one enough?" I asked.
“I want three.”
…What?
The purple eyes staring down at me were serious.
Three people… In other words, did that mean he wanted at least three brides? No, he didn't know that the "person" would be his bride, so he might have simply thought that having more visitors would be fun.
“Now, now, won't it be too crowded here to welcome three other people?"
“You're the one who said that I should be more greedy.”
I certainly said that, d.a.m.n it!
But yesterday you had also said you were satisfied with this world, and that you had everything you wanted already.
I was so happy about it, but now…
Somehow, my mood tanked again.
I slowed my pace, pulling my hand out of Sig's hold. I could feel his gaze on me, but I pretended not to notice it.
I'm sorry, but you have to be satisfied with only “one person." After all, this world's capacity was limited to two people.
