Then I of course asked why the frickity frack she was in this forest with her master and his lady friend of his if it was a death trap(and they couldn't even survive the wolves? The actual h.e.l.l?).
Apparently this area once belonged to the Kitsune tribes(big surprise), and now multiple kingdoms surround this forest, but none dared to take it cause the G.o.d is still a little p.i.s.sed. So the Mind Flayers grew in the background, and now none dare go here.
However, there is apparently a big huge war going on between the kingdoms on the east and south sides of the forest, so many refugees are trying to cut through the forest to escape to other lands.
I wondered why the h.e.l.l a king would allow that, but apparently keeping people who don't believe in the king is harmful? Something about King's needing the belief of the people, I dunno.
So in the end, I ended up with multiple tasks from the Dungeon.
Go check up on the G.o.d of my race. Cool.
Secure the area. Yaaaay.

Subjugate the nearby goblins. HOW?
Remove the Mind-Flayer threat. Honestly I think the bad part will be the waves of mind controlled minions. n.o.body wants to go through 15 waves of endless living zombies to take out only one of the entire group of bosses.
So I'm going to scout out the west(with a lotta caution).
My plan is to find the positions of the threats, and lead them back to the dungeon if they seem weak enough. My guardians need practice after all.
I set out at about noon, on the 10th day. I had my knife, magic, and was using a.n.a.lyze to search for any and all life(I could've killed a lotta wildlife, but killing outside the dungeon doesn't give DP, only Proficiency, so why bother), and check out this area.
A bit of a ways away is a rise in the land where the forests elevation obviously looks bigger, implying some sort of ridge. That's likely where the caves leading to the Underground are, so I've set that as "enemy base 1", and am heading in its general direction.
After being bored for an hour of cautious moving, winding back and forth so I don't miss anything(in terms of distance I could've gotten this far away with a 20 minute jog), I FINALLY found my practice targe-I mean enemies I take seriously. Yep.
I looked around a tree and it was a group of goblins(again. Seriously guys. I want new mobs), and surprisingly there was only 1 wolf, and it wasn't even being ridden. 7 goblins, 1 wolf, and
'WHAT THE ACTUAL f.u.c.k IS THAT.'
Traits: Big, 6 foot tall muscle-brains who are easily led to become berserk.
Lore: Goblins who's evolution saw brute strength as the proper path. Possibly learned this idea from fighting a bear.>
a.n.a.lyze... your flavor text is getting a little... ugh.
You expect me to think a goblin became that because it thought bears had the right vibe going? More like it saw a stereotypical barbarian!
Standing a exactly 6 feet, but thicker than me by twice my width, with mucus-green shaded skin. It's nose looked like that of a pig rather than a sharp long one like a goblin, and on its back was a ma.s.sive chunk of iron I'll dignify with calling a sword.
I can't explain why... but seeing that big one, I felt that heat rising again. But it wasn't a feeling of rage, but rather...
Some part of me was looking forward to fighting this thing, to the challenge of it. Out of some part of my mind rose an unbidden thought:
'Today, I will rise above you and slay you all.'
I quickly shook of those thoughts.
'No, can't get complacent or confident. Caution and trickery is how I'll survive against these things right now.'
I decided to use FoxFire to get their attention, preparing to run the heck outta there. I aimed 2 of the 4 at the wolf, because I know I won't outrun that, and set another to kill one of the 7(the one closest to me).
In order to guarantee the big guys anger(a.n.a.lyze did say it was p.r.o.ne to a berserker state), I sent one right for his b.a.l.l.s.
I feel no remorse. I know how much it's gotta hurt, but we do what we gotta do.
The first one killed the goblin, the other 2 killed the wolf that was a bit farther away, who didn't have time to react.
As the other 6 goblins reacted, turning to me, the last one finally reached the Hobgoblin. But instead of avoiding it, he looked at me with nothing but rage in those beady eyes.
I could see thanks to a.n.a.lyze the moment where the mana in his body moved into his flesh, and created a sickly yellow-green glow that blocked the FoxFire.
I could see tell more mana had been used to block it directly than the big guy expected, but I was still panicking over the fact I'd forgotten something.
In this world, most can use one or two spells, while some are true magic-wielders(a path I'm beginning to get a sense for), but literally EVERYONE, from the dogs to the devils, can use mana to fortify their flesh and become "superhuman".
Which meant that by using Mana to empower himself, this Hobgoblin was a lot stronger, tougher, and more dangerous than I'd given him credit for.
'Ahhh... f.u.c.k me.'
