"The G.o.ddess Milaki..."

"...is a f.u.c.king vain, spiteful, stereotypical b.i.t.c.h, who follows the philosophy of every prideful, spiteful, vain elf in all of fantasy!"

"Well... that's one way to put it." Fenrir seemed to kinda shrug.

"The truth is quite simple: the elven G.o.ds couldn't stop a G.o.ddess of darkness from stealing away their followers, and the G.o.ddess of Peace, the most powerful elven G.o.d, couldn't stop the civil war."

"So when one day, a different species managed to uphold the peace that 'Peace' herself couldn't, she got p.i.s.sy and made a divine proclamation she knew they wouldn't use, just to make sure her people wouldn't get too friendly, cause she was worried they'd leave her for our G.o.d, who was seemingly more capable."

Fenrir nodded his head. "In other words, you, Kyoku, are a being that she will want dead or disgraced, because the fact you live means that she failed to take vengeance on the Foxkin for upstaging her."

I tried to palm myself, but instead fell over without my paw to support me.

Now I want you to image a cute lil' baby fox, lifting a paw to swipe at its snout, and falling over with a soft thump, only to roll back over onto its feet, and sniff at the air, sneeze, and shake its head. It's adorable right?

Yeah. I was really cute in this form. I think I've lost all confidence as a "boss" in front of Fenrir by this point, and we are just friends, cause by the FoxG.o.d I am NOT thick-skinned enough to act like his boss after looking so d.a.m.n cute! That's just embarra.s.sing!

"Gah! Why do I am I going to have to deal with this unreasonable lady! I'll just hide my existence for as long as possible, and slowly gain strength. How long till I can survive a G.o.d's wrath? Oh yeah, I can't. Hmm, guess I'm f.u.c.kED."

Fenrir sighed. "Well it's not like she can smite you herself you know."

Huh?

Fenrir saw the confused look on my face, as I unconsciously tilted my head and flicked an ear up, mimicking his confused expression.

"Kyoku... G.o.ds are those who gained a following and idea energy to evolve into an embodiment of their divine concept, right?"

"Yeah, I'm following."

"But when you rise to G.o.dhood, you stop having a physical form, and live in the celestial realm. But you aren't a denizen Who now lives there."

"...you're not? How do you even know this?"

"All of us absorb basic knowledge from the Dungeon master. All of us. Even you, though you seem to be not noticing and not connecting to it easily because you have a pre-establishes understanding of 'reality', at least by your world view."

Oh. Alrighty then. I keep having to shut up as people tell me what the deal is.

"When a G.o.d ascends to the divine, they create a divine realm, which is like their very own piece of the celestial realm. The celestial realm is just the gathering 'heaven' of every G.o.d's divine realms."

"And this connects to me not being killed instantly because..."

My brain, slowly working, seemed to hit upon something.

"They're trapped? Within their own realm by the dimensional laws?"

Fenrir nodded. "They could leave, but it costs them, so they usually just send a portion of their powers as an incarnation to do whatever they need, and each major G.o.d will have an "Avatar", a chosen follower who wields the "Legacy" of that G.o.d."

"So to kill me, Milaki needs to either send an incarnation, which is just a segment of her power she controls, like a clone, or her avatar."

"Well, she could come in her true divine self, but it would weaken her, damage her divine realm, and make her position as the ruler of the elven G.o.ds unstable. So, functionally, you are right."

"Aren't I still screwed then?"

"No, because you live in a Dungeon. It's a small realm all it's own, with its own dimensional laws, and it is intelligent. Honestly, Dungeons could be considered G.o.dless-divine realms, except they exist on the physical plane rather than spiritual."

"...G.o.dly incarnations can't enter a dungeon unless it is destroyed. The dimensional walls don't allow it by principle. d.a.m.n Fenrir, I'm getting a textbook learning lesson about how the G.o.ds work."

"...yes master, I suppose so."

"...hey Fenrir."

"Yes master?"

"How many common mortals know about all this?"

Fenrir answered without hesitation, "Very few commoners are actual aware of anything about the G.o.ds other than the fact that they exist in a higher realm, are mortals who rose to G.o.dhood by embodying a concept, and rarely directly interfere, preferring to enable followers to grant the prayers given."

I nodded, it made some sense. But then why was Luna so well informed too?

...Luna never said she was born a slave, maybe she's someone important? Gah that'd be so cliche and predictable though. Makes a lot of sense though, maybe her master was aware of the hypothetical ident.i.ty and that's why he never touched her cause...

She's kinda too pretty to still be untouched if she was a slave her whole life. That's the sad, harsh, cruel fact of the world.

I looked up at Fenrir again. "Is that everything you had to say?"

He nodded. "For now."

"Alright." And with that, I pulled on him with my soul energy, surfacing from the soul-realm back into my own body, stiff and dry-lipped from playing music the whole time without thinking.

I looked up, the music cut-off, as Fenrir stood up and shook himself, nodded at me, and took a few steps from Luna.

I walked over to Luna, and grabbed her shoulder, beginning to shake her. "Hey, wake up sleepy cat." I said in a low voice.

I looked over at the door out of the room, still ever-so-slightly cracked open.

'If there is something in the next room, did it really do nothing that whole time?"

You know, I'm a little disappointed none of the Dungeons so far have been cla.s.sic fantasy Dungeons like I would expect. Expectation subversion I guess, but no underground castles yet.

I am totally going to find a way(and gain enough DP) to design my Dungeon myself, and I will make it BIG, epic, and picturesque! I'll probably still follow the eastern theme though.

Luna began to stir, and as I twisted my hand to grab her cheeks, thinking I should pinch them and shake her head a little(it would've been funny!), she rolled over.

Onto my arm.

And hand.

'...oh boy. This is gonna end badly. I would like to formally declare before the court, this was unintentional, and as she was the one who rolled onto me, I plead innocent to the charges of s.e.xual a.s.sault. I swear, I'm innocent. Could a cute fox like me lie?

What do you mean I'm no longer a cute fox, so I don't get a free pa.s.s?!

Luna began to fully wake up, still on my arm in a BAD WAY.

'Oh f.u.c.k, oh f.u.c.k, oh f.u.c.k me, oh f.u.c.k ME RUNNING IM GOING TO DIE.'
