Even those who bet and had lost a fortune betting against Aker still acknowledged his fights as especially blood curdling, shout inducing excitement. Most fighters in The Pit have a style of fighting and that style becomes synonymous with them, every time they stand in the arena everyone knows how the fight will look and what moves the fighter will use. Aker on the other hand brings a different and unique fighting approach, perhaps not in every single fight but certainly a different fighting methodology over time. He has a propensity to blend fighting styles that he had used in the past with new fighting styles he is developing. In essence the crowd enjoys and looks forward to Aker's fights because they never know what type of fight they're going to witness.
Sometimes, he steps out into the arena as a dominating and relentless force that crushes all that opposes him. Other times he his graceful and nimble, his every attack uses subtle trickery and speed. There are times he flashes around the arena never stopping for a moment, using all beast and structures to his advantage. Occasionally he will leap into the pile of magic beast disappearing among the screams and growls of the vicious and feral beast only to appear several minutes later breathing heavily but victorious.
Over and over Aker's performances has resulted in the crowd antic.i.p.ating and salivating over his next battle. If one is to talk to Aker, he would emphasize that he is just training and preparing for when his opponent gets stronger and he is not putting the crowd's thoughts into his mind at all.
So, hearing the announcers voice there wasn't a single person among the hundreds of thousands who are impatiently waiting for Aker's fight to begin who would disagree with his statement.
"We of The Pit understand that his battles are so exhilarating and thrilling that we decided to up the ante..." As always, the announcer knows how to draw in the attention of the crowd with his use of pausing, his goal always the same, to have them eating out of his hand as they wait on his every word.
"That's why for the benefit of you, our loyal audience we have brought in the genius beast tamer from the Graken Empire's Drexler family Alex Drexler also known as No Tamer..."
"Can you really believe they could bring in No Tamer himself? I heard of this kid, they say the reason he got the nickname No Tamer was because there wasn't a beast he couldn't tame."
"I heard about that and also heard that he can act as a one-man army, he has learned how to tame and coordinate the attack of hundreds of beasts at the same time. He's already able to tame Level 2 Basic magic beast even though he's only at the Fire level of the Source Core."
"Bahhhh....what do you know, you say only at the Fire level of the Source Core, he could kill you in a second. That young genius is already at the Fire level even though he is only seventeen. Not only is he a genius magic fighter but he is a genius beast tamer as well. Looks like they brought in that No Tamer to fight our very own genius. However, I wonder how it's going to work, are they going to send him into the arena as well?"
"No way they send him into the arena, he can just manage the beast from the sides just like he would in any other battle. Is there any reason for a beast tamer to actually enter the battle?"
The crowd was going crazy with their discussions about Alex Drexler also known as No Tamer being brought in to fight Aker. No Tamer was a well-known genius in this part of the universe, his fame had extended to hundreds of planets. Already the Drexler family was a famous beast taming family who had been dominating for thousands of years.
The Drexler family made their fortunes as mercenaries of types by selling themselves out to empires at war. Should two empires find themselves battling, each of them would desperately try and bring beast taming families to their side as one high level beast tamer could command dozens of magic beasts at a time. No Tamer being the genius he is could attack with hundreds of beast making him a once in a thousand generations genius.
"we of The Pit have arranged all of this and hope you truly enjoy the battles between the young genius of The Pit and the Drexler family genius. No Tamer has already agreed to stay and battle Aker until his death, so we are also taking on for the first time a different kind of bet..."
The crowd hearing that there will be a new type of betting were instantly enamored with the announcer and were now truly hanging on his every word. Quiet filled the whole arena as hundreds of thousands held their breath in expectation of the next piece of breaking news.
"How long do you believe the young heinous, contemptible, despicable, and evil young Aker can survive against the Drexler family genius? Perhaps he will fall in this battle? Perhaps he can make it through two battles? How will he do when the magic beasts are not mindlessly attacking but are coordinated by a genius? Maybe he can survive for ten battles? Hahahahahahaha...we let you pick the number of battles he will make it to and bet on it. The best news is you get the odds for the number you bet to if he survives that long in addition to the single odds for each battle, excluding a bet of one to five.......!"
The quiet crowd instantly exploded with a clamor when the words "You get the odds for the number you bet to" line from the announcer. That means if you bet five battles and win you get five times your bet. If you bet one hundred battles you get one hundred times your bet if he can survive. In addition, if you bet ten battles and he survives you will get an additional single odds per battle. Essentially you get your ten times odds bet plus a one to one bet for each battle, so you end up with twenty times odds. The only case where this isn't true is a bet of one to five, if you bet he survives one to five battles you only get one to one odds. This was insanity, not only were you betting on each battle, you were getting to determine how long you wanted to ride the wave. The longer the bet you had on Aker to survive the more profitable it became exponentially.
"Hmphhhh.....as if though he would even survive one fight against the beast that I personally trained. I've been here for month taming and training these Level 1 Basic beasts and have them working in perfect harmony. I don't know why they needed me to train so many of them as if though he would live through the next few minutes. They even had me train some Level 1 Intermediate magic beast in case he survives long enough. These idiots in these backwards kingdoms know nothing about true strength and power. If dad didn't make me come here, there is no way I would have wasted my time." With his Brown frizzy hair pulled back to reveal a chiseled and frowning face, his smart brown eyes set symmetrically within their sockets, Alex stared down brazenly at his servant. Alex was exceedingly upset with his father for sending him to the Underground Empire to kill some boy in a cage. What he couldn't understand was what the Underground Empires incompetence had to do with him.

When the request first came in Alex thought it was some kind of prank by his friends. Some small empire in the furthest reaches of the outer universe was having trouble killing a ten year old boy in a prison cell. Only an idiot would believe something as mind numbingly stupid as that. When he was called in by his father and told that he was headed to the Underground Empire his first thought was "How did they get dad to play along with their prank" he just couldn't believe it was true.
Only when his dad began explaining that his job was critical and that he must complete his task quickly and with his utmost effort did Alex come to understand that he was really headed to the Underground Empire.
"Young Master, I understand your frustration but what's done is done. You've already tamed and trained all those magic beasts, now you should just focus on wiping this boy out and heading back home as quickly as possible. You already know what has been promised to us if we complete our task." The old servant man responded to Alex with his head slightly down and subservient.
"I already know what the Underground Empire promised otherwise do you believe I would be here. Do you believe father would send me here if it was anything less than what they offered? For this backwards empire to pull a genius of my caliber they could only promise such a thing."
Alex was very clear about why he was here and what the empire promised his father who was the leader of the Drexler family and he Alex who was the oldest son and the next head of the family. There was no shortage of wars throughout the universe and as such there were a constant barrage of request for the Drexler family to fight.
"...." the old servant didn't bother to answer the young master's questions as he knew that his young master didn't ask with the intent of him answering. If he was to say anything further at this time, he would only upset his young master, his job now was only to listen to him complain about him being here.
"I'll quickly kill this boy and get out of here. He may be considered a genius here in this h.e.l.l hole but compared to real geniuses he isn't even fit to be an ant. At least an ant they would take their time to stomp on, someone here is just trash, you throw it away and never think about it again. If anyone finds out I have put so much time and effort into killing garbage I'll be the laughingstock of everyone."
Alex felt he couldn't even lift his head up over the matter. The entire time he has been in the Underground Empire he has kept to himself for fear that his name would spread. He was already angry that the announcer had used his name as it increased the chances that everyone would find out he was here.
"So what type of formation should I use to swallow this kid up fast? Should I use the Lightning Bullet, Terror Force, River Bite or h.e.l.lfire Release? Each formation is based on using the same type of magic beast and overpowering them with that element. Since we are trying to destroy him as fast as possible let's go with the Lightning Bullet, put only wind magic beast out there today." Alex was pondering what type of killing formation he would use against Aker, to him it didn't matter because no matter which one he chose Aker was already as good as dead.
"Yes, Young Master I will only have wind magic beast out there. Are you planning on doing any advanced placements?"
"No, I'll just wing it, for something like this I don't need to put too much thought into it. I'll have them get in a standard formation after they're out in the arena and then we'll have them attack in two x two's or four x fours. I would think after the first or second wave we should be done here. For now, I'm going to go head out to my stand so I can oversee the battle and send commands down to the beast."
Alex spoke as he walked towards his battle stand location. His battle stand location was especially built for him, it was a stand that hung down from the top of the arena located in the dead center right above Aker's head so that the magic beast would always be able to see him.
"Get your bets in now because we'll be starting in five minutes!" The announcer's final words declaring the opening of the bets to the audience drove them mad. Instantly people were screaming and shouting trying to figure out how long they wanted to bet that Aker would survive.
Most people were betting for just the single battle. While Aker might have been impressive so far, he was nothing compared to the well-known geniuses, and not only was No Tamer a well-known genius he was also a beast tamer. While he may not be fighting directly in the arena itself, him guiding the beast may make it infinitely more difficult for Aker to win than if Alex was to walk in and battle directly. That was even knowing that Alex was already a Source Core fighter at such a young age. How could Aker compete with any of Alex's skills and abilities.
Aker who listened to the announcer and who was still listening to the crowd c.o.c.ked his head and said to himself "Finally I can start fighting real battles again, hopefully with the help of what's his tamer I can get more points to help me reach my next level." Aker didn't put any of this in his eyes, to him who had been fighting in The Pit, this was just another fight except it had the potential to get him more points. Other than that, who cares if someone is directing the magic beast.
Aker had seen the stand when he walked in and after hearing the announcer's explanation, he understood that it was for Alex to guide and direct the battle. Looking up Aker yelled out loud enough for Alex to hear "Someone who's too afraid to come down into the arena and battles from the sides thinks they can defeat me?"
