He however didn't have such a bottleneck, and can cultivate quite easily than them. And he also isn't restricted to one sword skill or rogue skill.
"This brings me, to you, as I have noticed you had used a rogue skill, and a sword skill, and if you add your magic than you're basically pursuing all three cultivation paths. Are you sure you can take it? You should know that, even following one path is quite hard?" The old man said as he looked at Ned.
Ned then said to the old man with a determinant look, "I plan to reach at the least rank 7 in both being a rogue and a swordsman, before focusing entirely on my magic"
Alaster from the way Ned phrased the words, knew that he didn't plan on stopping on the rank 8 when it comes to his magic cultivation. Although he knew that such a thing was practically impossible, he chose to follow his instincts, and believe in him.
And so he nodded at him and said, "I'll help you as much as I can"
And Ned felt grateful to that, although it was too soon, he felt like he finally had someone to depend on in this new world. Although he wouldn't need the help in his cultivation, he would need it when it comes to skills. The old man can teach him his techniques.
"Now then for your question, and believe me when I say I don't want to hurt your pride, but it was a technique created by me. It is actually simple, as you would need to exploit the moment your enemy blinks, to speed up and attack, of course with years of mastery it had become much more refined" Alaster said, as he didn't feel that the technique was something special, but he also didn't want to make Ned feel down again.
But Ned wasn't going to anyways, as even though the old man made it sound easy he knew that it needed your full concentration and also a sharp eye to notice all the small details like when your eye begins to blink.
"It may sound like it is easy for you, but I can guarantee that people will kill to get it. Also in my hands coupled with my movement skill hehe my enemies will blink straight to death" just imagining it made Ned feel much stronger already.
"Indeed with that movement technique you used it would be quite deadly. When you had used it I couldn't follow you until you reached me. Although it is easy to block you as your moves are predictable. Once I train you, you would be unstoppable" the old man said with admiration, still wondering how can such a technique exist.
"I'm guessing that you didn't breakthrough in your cultivation by mastering the skills right? Otherwise you would have been rank 8 considering that speed"
Ned nodded his head but kept quite after. And saw the old man brought new clothes to wear.
"I'm not asking for your secrets don't worry, this old man was just intrigued" Alaster said as he rotated his right shoulder after changing, and started walking back to the exit. But still added "we should head back, Lori would be pacified now, and the demons that are coming would suffice to fight it with just a rank 6, it was always that way as the demons won't show their cards this early. However you should by no means drop your guard"
Ned appreciated the old man not asking him any further about his secrets, and nodded his head at what he said. He would never drop his guard. And he also ignored that the previous friendly word written on the old man's dot on the map before has changed into [hope].
Getting out of the guild the old man once again told him to wait for him as he went to the guild master.
And once he got back they went into the inn to eat lunch.
Reaching the inn they headed directly to the hall where they eat, and met Lori who looked at her grandpa anxiously, probably wis.h.i.+ng he would tell her he had changed Ned's mind. But he looked at her and shook his head as he said, "if he isn't qualified then n.o.body that is partic.i.p.ating would be."
"Oh" her eyes reddened as she looked at Ned with a reluctant look. But he just smiled at her gently as he teased her, "what are you doing? Sounding like you are my wife and I'm leaving you behind?" she blushed as she lowered her head and coughed to get her bearings back.
"If you don't comeback I will never forgive you."
"Don't worry, as I said before I never drop my guard." He replied to her, and saw with the corner of his eyes that the old man already went back to the kitchen with a warm smile on his face. As for Lori other maids had already covered for her.
"I would make sure that you make it up to me after you get back" she said looking at him straight in the eyes. He wanted to say that they are just friends but once he saw her eyes, he stopped and nodded his head and smiled, and said,
"Okay then, I'll make it up to you when I get back"

"It's a promise" Lori said with a stiff smile on her almost crying face. It was not that she had grown to love him, but rather that he had already became close to her just like her grandpa.
