When the left, scenery spread out before them, first with the forest, then a river, waterfall, and in the distance were mountains.

It would be foolish to call it rural, it was completely a remote area.

Seeing the outside for the first-time surprised Lapis, but, Lapis didn't know from where Lily bought (or brought?) the ingredients. Lapis had thought that the town would be closer.

「Hey, Lily-san. About how far is the town? Also, in which direction do we walk?」

To Lapis's question, Lily tilted her head.

「The town is that way, but… walking it'd take, about 2 days?」

「Eh?」

At the unexpected number, Lapis released a weird voice. At most, she had expected it to take 1 and a half to 2 hours.

But if that were true, then the prediction wouldn't match. When Lily had gone out, she had returned within 4~5 hours.

In other words, she had another mode of transportation aside from walking.

Then, Lapis remembered Lily's occupation. Since she's usually a good-for-nothing slacker, Lapis had forgotten, but Lily is a witch. Which would mean—

「I got it! You fly on a broom, right? Since you're a witch!」

Full of confidence, Lapis answered with a smug face. Lily thought that was really cute, but politely denied her.

「That's wrong. 6000 years ago, I would've flown on a broom, but it was quite painful on my bottom. For that reason, I created "this", and have been riding this since.

Saying such, Lily pulled out a palm-sized card from her pocket and threw it midair.

Thereupon, the card began to faintly s.h.i.+ne, and when the light faded, there, hovering in the air, was a carpet.

「How is it? Are you surprised?  This is my creation, a flying carpet.」

「Amazing! It's like it came from the magic lamp story!」

「Ah, that, this child was the model for that. It is my child, and my friend.」

「Ooh, a long-lived person's line!」

To the Lapis that looked excited and wanting to ride, Lily smiled and before boarding the carpet, she put Lapis on the carpet.

「It'll take about 2 hours, so, hold on tight. 」

Lapis gulped and nodded, and afterward, worriedly, Lily placed her left hand to tightly hold onto Lapis.

「The, Let's go」

「Okay!」

With the two of them on the carpet, they slowly rose, going past the forest's trees and heading toward the town.

The air temperature was nice and warm, without much wind. It was ideal weather for flight.

「How is it, Lapis-chan? It feels good, right?」

「Fufu, breathtaking, right? That's natural, since there's such pretty scenery.」

「Um, over there is a cave system, can you see it? And over there, there's a behemoth living there.」

「It was around 2000 years ago, I wonder. I was cheeky back then, and I picked a fight.」

「Well, I easily turned the tables, but I sort of became attached. Now, he serves as our watchdog.」

「As thanks, he gave me a rainbow-colored egg and— Lapis-chan, are you listening? …Lapis-chan!?」

To Lapis, who wasn't responding, Lily became anxious and looked at her face, whose face looked like all the blood had drained from it.

「…L…L-L-L-L… Lily, -san… I-I…」

「Maybe, are you bad with high places?」

「I-I-It sssssseems th-that w-way. ……I thought I was going to die…」

Lapis's complexion had gone past pale, becoming closer to pure white, like her hair. It was clear to anyone's eyes that she had no composure.

「Guess there's no choice, huh. —And… there we go.」

「Ah, um…」

Lily grabbed Lapis and placed her in her own lap, while embracing her tightly.

「This way, it should be more secure, I'm thinking… What do you think?」

「…okay, thank you. …I think I'll be fine, this way.」

「At any rate, tell me if it's impossible, okay? We can just land at a suitable spot, since I can just burn away attacking monsters.」

「…I'm fine. …Lily-san's scent calms me down. …Can I stay like this until we arrive?」

「Sure, of course.」

In that manner, Lily said some scary things, but Lapis didn't have the leeway to retort.

About 2 hours later.

「Lapis-chan, we've arrived. Your feet ccan touch the ground, so open your eyes.」

「…ok」

In the end, for the duration of the flight, Lapis kept her eyes closed, and clung to Lily with both arms and legs, but was relieved when she could stand on her own legs.

Lapis took a deep breath.

「…it's awesome that the ground doesn't sway」

「You're like a person suffering from seasickness.」

Walking beside Lapis after descending, Lily began to giggle and smile.

Towards that reaction, Lapis's lips tapered and she chased Lily.

「Mou! It really was scary!」

「Sorry, sorry. I won't laugh, so forgive me.」

「Mm, it's fine, but, …on the way back, we're riding it again, right?」

「Well… You'll have no choice but to put up with it.」

Lily apologetically said, while sighing dejectedly.

「…On the way back, can I cling to you?」

「Oh, of course.」

「…then, I'll do my best.」

「Sorry.」

Lapis's atmosphere became a bit brighter.

Seeing that, Lily felt relieved and smiled.

(TN note: First, the stories that Lily is telling was really random, and I'm not sure if that will have any reference later on, in which case, I'll revise it.

Second, this is kinda random, but I do know that Lapis has blue-gray hair, but the description compared it to white hair, so…
