Technomancer: Genesis Chapter 3: Baffled

When Michael regained consciousness, he felt fine yet drowsy. It was odd since a blast like that would have killed him or at least mangled his body.

Was this a facility inside the CERN compound? It was strange that there was an explosion, it shouldn't have happened. He could barely move his frame and all he could do was stare at the ceiling. Thinking he had become a paraplegic, he shouted, but it seemed a high-pitched wail came out of his mouth.

He saw a figure out of the corner of his eye rush to him. She was blonde, slim and beautiful with gentle features. He tried to communicate but his eyes led him to her large chest; it distracted him because it was out of proportion with her delicate body, however; he noticed that this woman was lactating. She opened her mouth, but he understood nothing. Her speech was not English or any language he had heard. He a.s.sumed that this person was a nurse, but her clothes did not look like any uniform he had seen in his life. It was over the top as she looked like she was wearing a dress robe but something was off. Aside from being dressed in somewhat renaissance clothing, her apparel was radiant as if light engulfed it.

He sought to open his mouth to talk to her, but he could not form words. The woman kept talking to him and smiling. Her speech sounded like a Germanic-Latin sounding language. Where in the world was he? He shouldn't have been very far from CERN since medical facilities there was first cla.s.s and they required attendants to at least speak German. Had he been in a coma? How long was he out? Was he still in Switzerland?

When he stopped struggling to converse with the 'nurse' she seemed to beckon to someone out of his line of sight. A handsome figure emerged smiling and laughing thunderously. The man was slim but well built and sported a toned body. He exuded an aura of confidence and regality and yet, also the demeanour of a rough ruggedness. His garments also s.h.i.+mmered and bathed in light.

He tried to reach out to him as if to grab him using his two hands but the woman smacked it away, then she bickered at him, he stood back with his head down conceding to the woman's jabber. They looked like a couple fighting with the man helpless and meek. While the woman was giving him a piece of her mind. He was bewildered at actions of the two. Why were these two attendants bickering like this? Why did the man try to take hold of him? Are these people nurses? If so why do they wear such vintage clothes? Why were they enveloped in light? Why don't they speak any comprehensible language? Where on earth was he? Why the gesture? What in the world was going on?
