The place had no windows and there is no wind blowing them but the colorful hanging things started to turn around to face the cla.s.s. There they saw palm-sized human-like creatures.
They all jump away from the tree branches one after another. The 'colorful things' happen to be their thick and long frizzy hair that covers their bodies as they hang themselves in a fetal position among the branches.
Their neon-colored and frizzy hair cascaded down to their bare feet as they stood still on the group. These small creatures have a human-like face.
They have a big head that almost comprises half the size of their plump body. Their upper ad lower extremities were considerably short and stout.
They also have a big and flat nose while their lips were pouty. They have thick and bushy eyebrows while their eyes were extremely large and it appears disproportionate to their big face.
The color of their eyes has the same color that matches the neon color of their hair. All in all, the bunch of palm-sized creatures comes in different colors.
"These are the TROLLS. They love singing and eating. Their life revolves in partying and sleeping. Also, they are known for being fond of anything sparkling, and so they used to h.o.a.rd large amounts of gold and silver.
Laying one's hands on these treasures is one of the chief rewards for getting the better of them."
Teacher Wei started his lesson with a brief introduction about the background of Trolls. According to him, the reason why these trolls were kept in an underground chamber is for their own safety.
Trolls have one fatal weakness, and that is the sun. Apparently, when a troll was exposed to sunlight it will immediately be turned into a stone.
Being a lover of music and arts in nature, the Trolls tends to speak in rhymes. Teacher Wei's activity is related to it.
He instructed his students to have an exchange of a few words with the trolls. They can talk about anything under the sun. As long as they were able to get the troll to speak to them they will be considered to pa.s.s his activity.
"We have a lot of Trolls here, so feel free to approach any of them whenever you wish to give it a try. You have the rest of the day to complete this activity."
Teacher Wei ended his instruction with those few words before he sat at the corner of the chamber. He too has his own trolls to talk with.
Teacher Wei and the trolls were having an exchange of rhyming words as if they were just talking casually. It seems that Teacher Wei was really adept when it comes to communicating and dealing with different mythical creatures. Be it a beast, or just another species or dwellers in this magical world.
"Ehem... Let me try it."
Fan Lei cleared his throat first before he walked near to one of the trolls at sight.
"Hi my friend, Can you hear me on the other end?
I just saw you leap and fly, down to a tree that was so high.."
Fan Lei scratched the back of his head when he realized how lame his words sound when combined together. It was only this time that he realized that talking using rhyming words is not an easy task as it sounds to be.
"Try harder, so your words will sound smarter.
You are not a good speaker lad, but also not that bad."
When Fan Lei heard the Troll answered him back, he was too delighted. Although what the troll said is not entirely positive, he still accepted the result with huge relief.
At the very least, he managed to pa.s.s today's activity.
"Let's give it a try too!"
When they saw how Fan Lei managed to accomplished the task, the other students were also driven to try it out by themselves.
"My name is molly, Molly the beauty
And you are a troll, whose size is tiny
Now that you know my name
Can we play a game?"
One of the student sorceresses, named Molly tried reciting her rhyming words to talk with a red hair Troll.
"Sure why not, give me all you've got.
Playing games is where I have a knack
In the game of cards, be prepared to be knocked"
The red hair Troll agreed to Molly's proposal right away. The only problem is that Molly did not have any games in mind.
She just said those words for the sake of accomplis.h.i.+ng the task given to them
She was just blurting out the rhyming words that come to her mind in a whim. She does not mean anything of it at all.
Well, she will just worry about it later. At least, for now, she already pa.s.sed their cla.s.s activity.
Meanwhile, more and more students were starting to try out their luck as they all transform into a poet wannabe.
They all spoke in rhymes, that sometimes they were just saying any words that come to their mind as long as they have a rhyming sounds.
As a result, many of them were still not able to have a proper exchange of words with the trolls present in that underground chamber.
Trying her luck, Mu Lingxi also approached the troll nearest to her.
"Hi, my little friend over there, you look so dear.
So far, how was your life down here?
What do you usually do?
Can you tell me about it, too???"
Mu Lingxi asked the question that she was most curious about at that time. But surprisingly, the words turn out to be rhyming as well.
It just came out of her naturally, without her even trying. It was like she was just talking casually to the Troll. Her words were not forced and it was devoid of any deception. It all sounds pure and sincere.
As such, when the Troll heard what she said, it was delighted. Just a while ago, it was feeling a little bit annoyed by how the students were taking them lightly.
It was like they see their speaking manner as a joke. Some were even using words just for the sake of rhyming it.
They don't sincerely want to speak with them. They were all just doing it for the sake of pa.s.sing the activity.
The trolls will be lying if they will say that they don't feel offended or upset about it. If not for Teacher Wei's instruction of going easy with the students, they will never talk to them.
That is why, when the troll heard Mu Lingxi, it was pleased to talk to her and they started to have an exchange of a few more words.
"Little girl, you've got a knack for speaking... By any chance, are you a poet or something?"
The troll asked with an excited gleam on his eyes. The corner of his mouth quirked up as he looked at Mu Lingxi.
"No, I'm not. I am certainly not one... I'm a sorceress and I work with a wand"
"Oh I see, that makes sense... By the way, my name is Cents."
"Su Yan here, nice to meet you... I hope to see you in the future too."
Mu Lingxi had a nice chat with the Troll named Cents. Teacher Wei who was silently observing his students in the corner also saw this.
He nodded his head with a smile when his and Mu Lingxi's eyes met.
After a couple of hours, Teacher Wei called his students into a huddle. Signaling the end of today's cla.s.s.
Most of the students were able to pa.s.s the activity but there were still some who did not manage to complete the task.
Teacher Wei and the rest of the cla.s.s bid their goodbye to the Trolls. When the cla.s.s left the underground chamber, the Trolls return back on their original location which is the branch of the Banian Tree.
They started singing a joyful song and some were humming the merry tune. They all sway and tap their feet to the beat of the music.
The harmonious singing, humming, and tapping of the Trolls created a beautiful melody and this sound filled the empty and vast underground chamber.
