The reality of not becoming an alchemy disciple finally dawned on Reina and she quietly retired to her room. The remaining students slowly dispersed as well to continue their preparation for the other profession exams. It was as if nothing had happened at all.
Eluraa closed her engineering books for the day and decided to visit the library xenon registration desk before heading back to her dormitory. This is one of the biggest advantages of becoming a department's disciple and owning a xenon. She now had access to all the departments' recipes and techniques, including the alchemy, black smithing, engineering and beast taming.
Basically, the whole database of knowledge available is stored and can be accessed from the xenon at any time convenient. Eluraa browsed through the library books for an hour, waiting for the registration process to be completed. She was very excited to be finally able to look at some of the alchemy recipes and learn the actual detailed processes.
She, then, literally, ran back to her room after getting her xenon registration done. She had deactivated the daily updates from xenon and it was a while since she had looked at her stats menu.

"Wow.. it is really difficult to improve the stats without actual combat. Well, I can worry about them later."
"They have even given me some basic necessities like cauldron and instruments set. Looks like all I need is some ingredients sets' to start with. Let's look at some alchemy recipes."
"No wonder Lord Chi Yan had mentioned the importance of talent in flame type spells. Even the basic common grade potions and pills require flame maintenance and tempering for two hours at the least."
Flipping through the basic flame spells, Eluraa felt that her versions were far better and required lesser energy expenditure. She was finally going to start practising her spells and step on to the higher levels of mana manipulation officially. She calmed herself down, steadied her mind and started with the common grade flame spells.
As expected, she was easily able to materialise common-grade flame and maintain the intensity with no additional effort. She then practised producing energy bursts and energy lows with the common grade flame.
After a while, Eluraa took out the common grade cauldron from her xenon and continued practising her spells with it. The cauldron had a energy level indicator and beeped when there was a change in the intensity.
Since, this did not require much focus or effort, Eluraa tried maintaining the flame intensity spell using one hand and focussed more on learning her basic engineering theories on the other side.
This was one of the main reasons why combat experts stuck to either one or two professions at max. Learning and practising the different recipes and methods take painfully long durations of time. It was physically impossible for someone to specialise in multiple professions.
Eluraa, however, because of her advantage with magical affinity, wanted to see if she can mult.i.task and break this barrier. All of these professions were completely new to her and she decided that she was not going to let this opportunity to learn slip by.
Trinnnggg Trinnggg.. Eluraa's sleep timer alarm rang. Without her noticing, it was already half past ten in the night. She had been maintaining the flame intensity for seven hours now. Eluraa chuckled to herself, "Hmm.. What should I do first tomorrow. Should I go and shock Lord Chi Yan and show him my progress or maybe I should extort some money from Reina first".
Smiling to herself, Eluraa went to bed fast. It had been a good day. It seemed that she was growing more and more fond of her cla.s.smates.
After a good night's sleep, she woke up and began her morning training as usual. Then she hurried to the academy herb gardens to finish processing some herbs before her combat practise started. Eluraa was aware of her severe lack of time. This attempt to learn multiple things could easily backfire at her.
On her way, she tripped over something on the ground, "ughh. what the h.e.l.l ?" She turned around to look at what tripped her and literally fell down on the ground shocked. She had tripped over Reina's half eaten body.
Eluraa just sat there on the ground frozen for a whole minute. She then shook herself and again looked at what had happened. Reina's whole body was ripped apart and torn to shreds. There was blood spilled everywhere and she was almost unrecognisable.
"What the h.e.l.l is going on here..", tears br.i.m.m.i.n.g her eyes, Eluraa was completely shocked.
