Farah.

Two days earlier.

December 16, 2009.

12:10 am.

Farah rode the car and told Samir to drive to the airport. The whole city was quiet; it took them twenty minutes to arrive. "Are you waiting for someone?" Samir said and stopped the car at the main entrance of the airport.

"No… I'm the one traveling"— Farah opened the door— "Don't go, I will go inside to get something first and will back"— she went inside the airport and ordered a cup of black tea, then went back to the car and gave it to Samir— "I knew that it's your teatime"— she put the warm cup on the car— "And also…tell Malika not to call me."

"Thank you," Samir said and chuckled. He worked for Malika's family shortly after Farah's accident eight years ago. No one knew anything about his past. He was a quiet man with a caring att.i.tude.

Samir reached his hand to take the cup; Farah looked at it, noticing a tattoo on his right wrist. She narrowed her eyes to see it clearly. A strange s.h.i.+ver ran through her body, unconsciously she clenched her fists, feeling a sudden sensation of all her blood burning under deadly fire. She didn't look bothered or harmed it was her soul who felt that in that split of a second something took over her whole body telling it to calm down. She s.h.i.+fted her eyes from his wrist to his face and said, "You have a tattoo?" Farah looked again at it. "What does it mean?"

"It means infinity," Samir said, pointing at the tattoo.

"Wow… when did you get it?" Samir was a Nubian man in his late forties. He didn't look like a person who would get a tattoo.

"Many years ago."

"I'm curious to know the story, you'll tell me when I get back," Farah said and chuckled. Samir smiled and nodded. Farah went back inside the airport and booked the next flight to Dubai.

12:45 am.

Farah was about to turn off her phone, but it ranged. It was Malika. "Are you f.u.c.king kidding me?!" Malika's loud voice came too strong for Farah's ear; she moved the phone to her other ear as she cringed in pain. "You're really going to Dubai!" Farah rolled her eyes; she was already irritated by everything.

"Yeah… I told you."

"How dare you?!" Malika shouted. "I'm worried sick here and you're—"

"Malika, I don't have the energy to argue," Farah said, her tone sounded like she was about to end the call.

"—don't you dare to hang up on me!!?"

"Stop overreacting and I won't," Farah said.

"Fine, call me when you land," Malika said and chuckled.

"Bye Malika." Farah ended the call and shut down her phone. She held her head between her hands tightly and sighed hard. All she could think of was to get to Dubai as fast as possible.

As she was finally inside the plane. Everything seemed to be in slow motion. She wasn't hearing anyone clearly, she held her head in pain; a strong headache was attacking every nerve in her.

She couldn't sleep; all her thoughts were about her pain; a pain she thought would never ruin her soul, but it was deeply affecting her. She was breathing heavily, wanting to cry hard that it almost felt like someone was shattering her heart.

She never fell in love with Adam; the pain she felt was deeper and unreasonable even though her life was filled with wounds from her family, something was behind all this pain. Something she couldn't grasp all her life; or the only eight years she remembers.

The four hours flight went by like a hundred years filled with a decade of emotions rus.h.i.+ng back to her and stabbing a weapon into her heart— Her heart ached minute by minute— she closed her eyes trying her best to calm her loud breathing, yet nothing was working.

5:55 am.

Farah turned on her phone and called Noah, He was sleeping deeply on his bed with soft snores coming out of his slightly opened lips. As his phone buzzed on the nightstand next to his bed. He lazily reached for it to shut it down.

He looked at its screen with one opened eye and cringed face. Farah's name was glowing on the screen— he closed his eye and put the phone over his right ear— "I'm at the airport," Farah said loudly with noises behind her overpowering her shaking voice. Noah hummed; he couldn't get his voice to answer out loud.

"I'm taking a car now meet me in twenty-five minutes," she said firmly and ended the call.

"No... worries," he answered weakly without realizing she already hung up. Noah was exhausted that day; his flight from Sydney to Dubai took about fifteen hours and he didn't get much sleep, yet his curiosity to know what happened to Farah got him out of bed. He threw his phone on the bed along with the blanket off his body and stood up heading to the bathroom to have a quick shower.

6:30 am.

Noah was already waiting for Farah for ten minutes; he was standing on the sand looking at the beautiful sunrise. A sound of a heavily breathing behind him. "Noah." Farah's voice was shaking and sounded like she was crying heavily. Noah turned around to find Farah's tears burst forth like water from a dam, her cheeks and ears were hot red. His jaw dropped; he never saw her in this state before.

He went closer to hug her, she sobbed into his chiseled chest unceasingly. He held her in silence. Tapping on her back slowly as her tears soaked his s.h.i.+rt. Her pain had come in waves, minutes of sobbing broken apart by short pauses for recovering breaths. Her heart was broken, she didn't feel nor hear anything but her heartbeat loud and clear. Her hands clenched hard over him; Noah couldn't help but hugging her tighter hoping she would calm down and stop crying.
