Xiu Mei found herself standing in front of the last gate. Her heart beats hastened, she wanted to peek in through the gla.s.s window but Yang Sheng's tall frame blocked her vision.

Just one last door and she will meet her father!

The thought made her feel emotional!

Yang Sheng gave her a shove. "See, I've prepared a surprise for you as a return gift for what you did to me at the banquet."

The scientists that were working diligently on their respective workstations stopped when Yang Sheng entered. They bowed respectfully.

"DADDD… STOP IT! STOP YOU b.a.s.t.a.r.d! WHAT ARE YOU DOING?" Xiu Mei shouted, she run to the gla.s.s cage where Mo Zhichan was held captive. She placed her lips against the gla.s.s wall, her hands at the side of her head.

Mo Zhichan's face was pale as if he had lost lots of blood and his clothes were drenched in water. Lying on the floor he was shaking wildly as the slow current pa.s.sed through the electric system installed.

His condition looked worse since Xiu Mei saw him this morning. He was happy after talking to her, but this…..!?

Tears rolled down her face.

 "STOP IT YOU b.a.s.t.a.r.d!" She turned to Yang Sheng who shrugged his shoulder and leisurely sat down on the chair as arranged by a scientist.

"After every sixty seconds, the intensity of the shock will keep on increasing. Rest a.s.sured, I won't kill him….." Yang Sheng smiled creepily at her. "But he has to pay the price for his daughter's arrogance….. Just a small price, sweetheart."

Xiu Mei wanted to pull her organs out for doing this to her father.

But first, she has to stop this torture.

She noticed the tools on the table behind which a few scientists were working. Without much thought, she grabbed the tools to open the automated door of the cage. There was no time to look for the source of the current and shut it. It was only best to open the door and get him out of there.

Holding the plier and screwdriver she breaks open the automated system installed outside the cage. Scientists use it to open the cage whenever required.

Her fingers run at a speed of light, separating the jumbled wires. It took only a few seconds to understand the wire structure, and she cuts off three wires, peeled two and connects them both.

The door opened.

"Ahh…" A small shriek escaped. Without worrying about the current she stepped into the puddle of water. Dammit! Water and current, a deadly combination!

 "D-D-DAD…." Holding his hands, she dragged Mo Zhichan's heavy body out of the cage. After making sure he is out of the water she kneeled down near him and rubbed his hand to warm him. "Wake up…"

She moved to rub his feet!

"Wake up, dad…."

Patted his face!

"It's your Qinyang… Look I'm here…."

Hugged his cold body to warm him.

"Dad…. Please…. I'll die… please…."

She placed her head on his chest to hear his heartbeat.

It was beating!

She squeezed the hem of Mo Zhichan's s.h.i.+rt to squeeze some water and sprinkle it on his face. She hugged him and cried…..

"Your little squirrel is bad… You're hurt because of her…. Sorry….."

For the first time in life, Mo Zhichan felt a soft, delicate, cuddly hug from someone. He smelled the most soothing fragrance near him. He heard a sweet voice like wind-chimes ringing in his ear….. His eyes split open to see a beautiful face that resembles his wife…..

His body was in pain, yet it was Xiu Mei's tears that hurt him most. He wanted to hug her but his treacherous weak body gave up at the crucial moment.

"Qin….qin…." He breathed with difficulty.

"Dad…." Xiu Mei smiled tears of happiness, she dived into the crook of his neck. "I found you… I found you…. I found you…."

She sensed the hidden spider in her hair tapping on her head. It was Orange giving her a secret message. The spider slipped down to her nape, still hiding inside the long hair and wrote-

[Vice President's granddaughter rescued.]

Xiu Mei got up from his father's embrace. She cupped his face in between her tiny hands and looked into his eyes. "Just trust me. Okay?" She saw Mo Zhichan blink and bent down to kiss his forehead.

Three consecutive blasts happened in the laboratory destroying a one-third portion of the lab.

 Xiu Mei hugged her father tightly, covering his body with hers.

The scientists who had resumed working earlier started running to save their life as the laboratory contained many toxic chemicals and elements.

"What the h.e.l.l is happening? Get fire extinguishers." Yang Sheng got up in a panic and looked at the direction where the blasts have happened.

'Celebrating 2020, you idiot.' Xiu Mei wanted to turn back and look at his expression but right now Mo Zhichan was her priority.

After a minute another three blasts took place destroying another one-third portion of the lab.

What makes him think he would get the opportunity to use a fire extinguisher?

It was like a series of blasts that started from the corner and now slowly moving to the front. With every blast fire got fierce.

Xiu Mei sensed something crawl on her body, hiding in her hair. It was the Big Spidy that did the work perfectly.

Mo Zhichan: "Cough… cough… cough…."

Xiu Mei holds her breath, she placed her hand on Mo Zhichan's mouth to prevent the smoke from entering his lungs. "Just a little more, dad. This Yang Sheng will himself take us out of here. You will never come back here again."

Xiu Mei started feeling the heat on her skin. She could hear the voices of people shouting for help as they run around like a walking fireball. She heard someone pleading Yang Sheng to open the door and let them out.

"Boss, that's the tank of inflammable gas." A scientist pointed at a metal tank and cried. "Nothing can save us if it catches fire."

Yang Sheng looked around, his years of hard work, his research, his money….. His eyes fell on the big laser gun that his men had stolen from Mo Zhichan's lab…. Everything, engulfed in fire…..

Yang Sheng gritted his teeth, he pointed at the lying father-daughter duo. "Pick them."

Xiu Mei smiled inwardly.
