Kang Jun was typing away on his computer as well as reading some doc.u.ments while Kang Mingyu starred at the ceiling. There was a TV in the living room but the boy didn't even try to turn it on.
Gazing at the boy once in a while, Kang Jun frowned.
"What's wrong?" Kang Jun asked. He knew exactly why the boy acted this way but he wanted to hear the boys voice.
Sadly, Kang Mingyu didn't answer.
For a small while, Kang Jun brought up various subjects to see if the boy would speak but to no avail. Kang Mingyu kept his mouth shut.
Silence once more enveloped the room before, Kang Mingyu started to whine. "I'm bored. I want to see auntie."
Kang Jun frowned.
"You just saw her this morning. She'll be back tomorrow,"
Kang Mingyu crossed his arms and began to pout. "I want to talk to her!"
Kang Jun looked like he had been wrong. 'Is my presence no longer good enough for you,' he complained internally.
Walking into the living room, Rong Lihua sighed. "Boys, why don't we compromise? How about we call the young mistress but after that, little young master, you cannot complain until she comes home."
Kang Mingyu didn't answer. He just frowned.
Suddenly, a thought crossed Kang Jun's mind.
Kang Jun: "How would you feel if Miss Lu was your mother?"
Hearing the word mother, Kang Mingyu's face suddenly paled.
The room was quiet once more but not for long.
"Hate…" Kang Mingyu whispered as he pushed himself up from the sofa. His eyes suddenly began to tear up before he looked at Kang Jun. "I don't want that. Mothers are scary…"
Hearing this, Kang Jun's heart broke. He turned away from his computer, put it on the coffee table in from of him before lifting Kang Mingyu into his lap. He then patted the boy's head.
"Not all mothers are scary. If Miss Lu was your mother, do you think she'd be mean to you?"
Kang Mingyu didn't move, but then he suddenly shook his head no.
"Then don't be afraid."
Kang Mingyu's face was completely sullen. "I-I'm not afraid."
Kang Jun pinched the boy's cheek but he didn't say anything. Feeling the pinch, Kang Mingyu slapped Kang Jun's hand away, frowned and then hopped out of Kang Jun's lap.
"I'm not a kid."
Kang Jun almost laughed to that statement. 'Says the little boy throwing a fit because his auntie isn't home.'
Seeing his expression, Kang Jun turned away from him and then continued to type away on his laptop before he said. "If you don't agree to Nanny Rong's idea, no matter how much you kick or scream I won't let you call Miss Lu and I'll tell her that you're being a bad boy."
To this threat, Kang Mingyu's eyes widened.
"Second uncle… you're so mean…"
Kang Jun shrugged. "Whoever said I was nice."
Watching the two, Rong Lihua felt an urge to laugh but instead, she left to go prepare dinner.
Once she was gone, Kang Mingyu pushed Kang Jun's laptop from his lap before he crawled into it.
"Call." The boy ordered.
Seeing this, Kang Jun didn't know whether to frown or laugh. When the boy wanted something he really did act like he was the master of the Kang family. He would make a fine heir.
Doing as the boy had said Kang Jun looked at Kang Mingyu from the corner of his eye.
The more Kang Jun looked at him the more he began to believe that the boy really looked like Lu AnLing. But the wonder concerning who the father was was eating at his mind.
If Kang Mingyu was really Lu AnLing's child then his adoption into the Kang family had to be part of some kind of plan. This only meant that Kang Mingyu was either the son of a compet.i.tor, the son of a powerful official or the son of one of the son's of the Kang family…
The list of possible fathers was pretty slim…
Just as the man's thoughts began to completely wander he heard Lu AnLing's soft voice at the other end of the line.
"Jun…" She said.
Hearing this, Kang Jun felt his heart skip a beat as he tried to fight back a blush.
"…" He was so happy, he didn't even speak.
Lu AnLing spoke once more and once again, she said 'Jun'.
Containing his happiness began to become hard for Kang Jun.
Watching as a smile tugged upon his lips, Kang Mingyu frowned and pulled on Kang Jun's sleeve. Feeling this, Kang Jun looked down at the dark-faced Kang Mingyu before he pulled the phone away from his ear,
"She said to wait for a second,"
Kang Mingyu was frowning but he still nodded. He would be patient for a second if it meant he could hear his aunties voice.
Kang Jun put the phone on his ear once more and smiled softly before he pa.s.sed the phone to Kang Mingyu. Once the boy put the phone to his ear his face became dazzling.
For a small moment, he looked at Kang Jun and frowned before he hopped off the man's lap.
Walking around, almost skipping, he spoke to Lu AnLing lovingly.
Meanwhile, Kang Jun continued to work. He did so until Kang Mingyu approached him.
Kang Mingyu pulled on Kang Jun's pants. A look of embarra.s.sment crossed the boy's face before he began to blush slightly. "Thank you for letting me talk to auntie…"
Kang Jun was beginning to feel touched but then, Kang Mingyu spoke once more.
"She told me to say that."
Kang Jun didn't know whether to laugh or cry but either way, he patted the boys head.
"Good boy. Now pa.s.s me the phone."
Taking the phone and putting it to his ear, Kang Jun spoke. "How's your night going?"
Kang Jun and Lu AnLing spoke for a little bit.
"Jun… uh, sorry that I'm calling you Jun, it's just that I can't say your full name right now."
Kang Jun laughed. "You should call me Jun more often."
Lu AnLing didn't speak but he knew that she was blus.h.i.+ng crimson, he could feel it in his heart.
Lu AnLing: "Uhhh, anyways… I have to tell you something."
"Mmm."
Lu AnLing: "I met Yang Yize today…" Lu AnLing recounted what had happened.
"He's a fool for thinking you'd be unfaithful." Kang Jun said with slight anger.
"Aha thanks… but he told me I cheated on him… he must have seen or heard something that made him a.s.sumed that. Do you think it has something to do with me sleeping with a random guy? I mean… it happened in this hotel and Yang Yize keeps showing up here…"
Lu AnLing was completely missing the mark on what Yang Yize had been saying. The man had only insinuated that Lu AnLing had been cheating on him with Sheng. The man knew nothing about what had happened to her after they broke up but this was completely new and vital information to Kang Jun's ears.
"That happened in Hotel Helios?…" Kang Jun whispered before he typed it on a separate doc.u.ment on his computer. "I'll check it out."
