I Deserve A Second Chance Chapter 32 - Stubborn!

"Are you done with work?" Li Xiqing saw her lost in thought for a while, and he didn't like her expression.

Shao Yan came back to her senses. She put the cardigan jacket on the back of her chair, and tidied up the paper bag before putting it on the floor next to her feet.

"Almost. I will leave after this one." She smiled at him, "Thank you for the jacket".

She moved her mouse around to wake her laptop up from idle status.

Li Xiqing didn't move, and before she chased him away, he casually replied her, "Okay, I'll wait for you here. Don't mind me, I need to reply some emails as well".

Li Xiqing was sitting at her desk, at the other corner. He took out his laptop, and started working. Totally ignoring her.

Shao Yan looked at him for a while. And then she started to let him be, and went back to typing her draft.

A moment later, Shao Yan reached out to her mug to drink some water. She realized she had drink it all up.

Shao Yan stood up, and just realized that Li Xiqing was still here. He was leaning back on his chair, with his arms crossed and he had his eyes closed.

Shao Yan felt like the world stopped moving for a while. Even his sleeping posture was so handsome.

"Li Xiqing?" she softly called him.

He didn't budge.

"Li Xiqing!" she called him a little louder now, but was still soft.

He didn't move at all.

Shao Yan stood up and looked at him. She got closer and she had raised her hand and was about to shake him awake, but she paused.

'He must have been so tired, working until this late'

Shao Yan looked around the room; checking if there's anyone else around. And then she raised her index finger and just poked his forehead softly and said gently, "Stubborn!"

She grumbled, "Already this tired, yet still sit here?".

She took her mug and walked to the water dispenser to refill her water.

Li Xiqing just pursed his lips and smiled.

When he powered on his laptop earlier, Li Xiqing was really working on his emails.

When he was done, he realized that she was still busy. So he just sat and waited on her patiently. He had been looking at her so engaged on her typing. Her side view was mesmerizing, he couldn't look away. So he stared for a while.

Shao Yan must have been so focused on her work that she didn't feel his stare at all.

When he just closed his eyes for a while, he heard her moved, but somehow he decided to keep his eyes closed.

And then he heard her called him.

Her voice was really soft. She called him twice.

And then he could feel that she moved closer. He could smell her perfume and he was itching to grab her and hug her. But he tried so hard to stay still.

He heard a soft sigh, and then he felt a cold finger tapped his forehead twice. 'Stubborn', she said.

Her voice was really nice.

He heard grumbled of concern from her.

He couldn't hold it in anymore, he let go of a smile.

She was so d.a.m.n cute!

After Shao Yan drank the water, she walked back to her desk, Li Xiqing was already awake and was looking around for her.

"I'm done", she walked to her desk and put her mug to the side. "I'm sorry you had to wait for so long".

Li Xiqing got up and helped her to tidy up her stuff. She took her purse and when she turned around to grab her laptop bag, she found it was no longer on top of her desk.

Li Xiqing had carried it with him and he had already started walking to the door.

She checked everything around her before turning off the desk lamp and walked out.

Li Xiqing had keyed in the lobby floor on the elevator keypad screen. They stood side by side waiting for the elevator to arrive.

It's already midnight now. Everything around them was so quiet.

"Have you been working in this building?" Shao Yan asked him.

Li Xiqing gave her a confused look.

"I mean, for this acquisition thing. Have you been sitting in this building when you're working with us?" she clarified her question.

Li Xiqing just nodded, "VP Zhuang set up floor 58 for us". And then he smiled at her, "So I can see you even more often now".

Shao Yan was surprised. She blushed. "I see". And then she looked away.

Even though she lived in country U before, where people were more liberal, but she was not used to this straightforwardness att.i.tude from a guy.

The elevator door opened, and they stepped inside.

Li Xiqing saw her lost in her thoughts again. She was so quiet as she was thinking about the past.

Liwei was the subtle type. They got together because they had mutual friends and those friends set them up too. Almost on all occasions, they would be paired together. And naturally, they just got together as a couple.

She sighed. She had failed a relations.h.i.+p once. She didn't have the courage to start another one.

Even though, this guy was so amazing.

Shao Yan didn't realize that her own aura was gloomy and sad, and Li Xiqing could somehow felt that.

He didn't know what she was thinking about, but his face darkened, he didn't like how she looked right now.

"Tomorrow, let's have lunch together." he interrupted her thoughts.

He looked at her, "I want to introduce you to Karl and Martin".

Shao Yan needed a moment to bring herself back to the present moment. She paused for a while to think about her schedule for tomorrow.

"Karl and Martin may have questions related to your past projects too. It's good meeting more new friends, right?"

She relented and finally agreed.

Li Xiqing walked with her to her car. He wanted to drive her back, but she refused, she still needed to come to the office tomorrow anyway.

He opened the back pa.s.senger seat to put her laptop bag and then he walked over to the driver seat to see her.

"Thank you, I'm leaving now", Shao Yan peeked her head out from the window.

"Um, drive carefully", he caressed the top of her head and then he stepped away from the car.

Shao Yan seemed to get used to him patting her head now, she didn't say anything. She just smiled back at him and drove away.

Li Xiqing waited until he couldn't see her car anymore, and then started to drive home.
