Lu Xian Yu was already on his way to his apartment, near Li Bingbing's place by the time he received a call from the driver he hired.

He was shocked by the news he received. Xia Sinian was dead?

He drifted his car and drove in full speed toward the hospital after hearing it from the driver that took Li Bingbing and her family home. He ignored the traffic signals and because of that, he was able to reach the hospital in a matter of a few minutes after the call.

When he arrived at the hospital, the driver was the one who met up with him before he brought him to where the hall where the health staff took Xia Sinian.

It wasn't long before he saw the scene of Li Bingbing and the kids crying before him as the doctor declared Xia Sinian dead before they could even enter him to the emergency room.

Li Bingbing was on the floor while her children were hugging her.

He unconsciously went toward them and bent down to hug them in his arms.

There were no words of comfort for Li Bingbing, Lu Xian Yu knew that well. Instead of words, he hugged her close, letting all her pain out to him.

"Daddy!"

"Daaaa!"

The children cried out to him as well. It was hard for them to see their mother crying without knowing why. Did someone hurt her? Did someone bully her?

The more cries he heard from them, the more he felt his heart being twisted. What should he do?

He felt Li Bingbing go limp in his arms, it was then he realized that she fainted.

The nurses and doctors that were at the scene noticed this that was why they quickly gave Lu Xian Yu a hand.

After Lu Xian Yu managed to calm the kids down, they slept, hugging their mother who was still unconscious.

Li Bingbing was brought to a private room and an IV drip was injected in the vein of her hand.

He watched the three sleep on the bed for a while, his heart was in chaos. How would he be able to mend the broken family in front of him?

How should he comfort them? It was hard for him since he knew how much Xia Sinian meant for them, especially for Li Bingbing.

He went out of the room before he pulled out his phone and called the Xia family, notifying them of Xia Sinian's death.

Not long, the Xia family, including Xia Meilin arrived at the hospital and all of them mourned for the death of Xia Sinian. It even caused Ji Rou to faint.

They were all devastated, especially Xia Meilin.

She never expected that Xia Sinian was going to be taken away on the same night. Weren't they just talking earlier?

She planned so many things for the next day for her brother, weren't they going to spend tomorrow together? Why? Why take him away at once?

Ever since that day, Li Bingbing distanced herself from everyone, even to her children. If not for Lu Xian Yu, she would have locked herself and starved herself the whole day. She never cried even in Lu Xian Yu's presence.

Lu Xian Yu stayed in their place to watch over the children, especially over the depressed Li Bingbing. She closed herself to everyone she knew. She ignored calls coming from her parents and when they visited her, she wouldn't even talk to them.

It went on until Xia Sinian's funeral came. The only ones there were the same people who attended the kids' birthday.

The sun shone brilliantly and the virescent color of the spring day under its glare was offensively bright and cheerful. It was as if they conspired to show the mourners how the world would go on without him. It shouldn't be that way. Everything should be as grey and foggy as their emotions, it should be cold and damp with silent air. But the birds still sang and the flowers still bloomed.

"Daddy, why is papa in a big box?" Mengmeng asked while holding Lu Xian Yu's hand.

Just like her father and everyone that was present, Mengmeng and Qinqing, who was holding Lu Xian Yu's other hand, were wearing black clothes.

Everyone's heads, except the curious kids, were down. Maybe it was them showing respect of maybe there were too afraid to look at what was coming.

The coffin was dark stained cherry and it was perfectly polished. It had a cus.h.i.+oned and silky lining. It was carefully placed down on the hole that was dug earlier.

"It is your father's ride to heaven." Lu Xian Yu tried to explain to the child.

Qinqing blinked a few times, "Papa... lweaying?"

Mengmeng's eyes became teary, "Why is Papa going to heaven? Papa can't leave us!"

Since Lu Xian Yu's hold on Mengmeng's hand was loose, the little girl was able to slip her hand away from her father's hold. She rushed towards the coffin, "Papa! Don't go!"

"Mengjie!"

Everyone was surprised when they saw Mengmeng rus.h.i.+ng towards the hole where the coffin was placed.

But before she could try and jump down, she was hugged from behind.

Mengmeng tried squirming as she tried reaching out for the father that she has always loved, "Papa! Papa! Wake up! Don't sleep! Don't leave us!"

Mengmeng's eyes were glazed with a gla.s.sy layer of tears. As she blinked, they dripped from her eyelids and slid down her cheeks.

Qinqing tried to follow his sister but Lu Xian Yu didn't allow him. The little boy started crying out loud as he reached out, "Papa! No! No lweave!"

The words that Xia Sinian's children tore everyone's hearts, making them burst out in tears.

Li Bingbing's lower lip quivered as words slowly made their way out of her mouth. "Mengmeng... it's okay... papa will come visit us sometimes..." She hugged her daughter close, refusing to let her go. "Sweetie... it's okay... it's okay."

Mengmeng finally stopped from resisting her mother's hug but her tears continued to flow down her cheeks, "Why can't Papa hear Mengmeng? Mama, Mengmeng doesn't want papa to go..."

Li Bingbing loosened her hug and she made the little girl face her. She forced out a smile, her voice was hoa.r.s.e since it was the first time she spoke ever since the day where she lost Xia Sinian in the hospital, "Mama doesn't want papa to go too... but... but, papa has to."

Li Bingbing's eyes were full of tears but it never rolled down her cheeks, she refused to let them fall. She wasn't going to cry in front of her children anymore.

Lu Xian Yu watched the two while he was carrying Qinqing in his arms. Qinqing was sniffling but he was able to calm down after seeing that his sister did the same.

He turned to Lu Xian Yu and hugged his neck, "Da... papa, no lweave... right?"

Lu Xian Yu understood what the little boy meant that was why he didn't give him an answer. Instead, he smiled a bit at him. He wiped his tears from soft cheeks with his thumb and kissed his forehead.
