"Long Huojin, why did you go after the w.a.n.g's three years ago?" she asked.

Long Houjin rose from his seat, approaching the door and locking it.

He then walked towards her, placing himself on the seat next to her. He ran a hand through his dark locks sighing.

He then faced her with his soft blue eyes.

"The w.a.n.g's came after my family first," he began.

"My father was always abusive, but it wasn't initially intense. Mr. w.a.n.g, Weimin's father, began to feed my mother some lies and rumours about him. She began to feel insecure, paranoid, angry even. Mr. w.a.n.g convinced her that he loved her, seduced her and everything. He told her that he would leave his wife and that she should leave Long Yuntian," he paused.

"And once he got her in his bed, my family wasn't the same since. That's why my mother won't leave him because she blames herself. My father treats her horribly, calls her a s.l.u.t. Even if she made a mistake, it didn't excuse the fact that my father treats her like s.h.i.+t. He always treated her like s.h.i.+t; she was vulnerable. But Mr. w.a.n.g did it on purpose. He wanted to break my father, but in doing so, he broke my family. So I went after his."

Xue Guangli's eyes widened, registering his words.

"If I knew that w.a.n.g Weimin was treating you like s.h.i.+t, I would have destroyed him, too," Long Huojin continued.

"Why didn't you, even if you didn't know?" Xue Guangli asked, breathless.

Long Huojin stared into her eyes; a skeptical look overwashed him. Xue Guangli's eyes opened further. "You didn't drag him down because of me?" she asked, almost unbelieving.

Long Huojin released a breath, nodding.

"You liked him. I thought that he would treat you well. You had eyes for him. Since he made you happy, I spared him," he said.

Xue Guangli smiled grimly. She cupped his face in her hands. "Jin," she began. "I didn't have eyes for him, not really. Not until he asked me out. But even then...I don't think I ever loved him, not genuinely, at least. I was just confused."

Long Huojin stared at her, bewildered. He couldn't believe his ears.

"How would you even know?" he asked her, wanting some rea.s.surance.

She leaned in near his ear. It seemed as if she was embarra.s.sed to say anything directly. "I really, really like you," she whispered. "I think...it started even before...way before. Maybe for a long time now."

Long Huojin froze at her sudden confession. He lifted his head to face her, but she looked away, embarra.s.sed. A flush crept on her cheeks.

When she peeked a glance at him, his gaze was intense. She bit her lip and said, "I'm sorry about what the w.a.n.g's did to your family. But why did they do it?"

Long Huojin tucked a strand of her hair behind her ear.

"I think because of greed, power, and jealousy. Mr. w.a.n.g wanted to be top. Even though they used to be friends, both of them worked under technology; therefore, making them compet.i.tors," he said.

Xue Guangli nodded. "You should have told me while I was dating him," she said.

Long Huojin smiled. "I was afraid you wouldn't believe me," he said. "He also didn't do anything to me directly. But his entire family is f.u.c.ked."

Xue Guangli nodded; she believed it. In some ways, she pitied w.a.n.g Weimin. He came from a family of slimy worms. There was no mistake now, as to why he became the way he was.

"There will be a wedding soon for one of our friends. I thought we should both go. But I want to do this alone," she said.

Long Huojin didn't say anything.

"I need to convince w.a.n.g Weimin that we broke up to get more information," she said.

Xue Guangli then told him of the plan. Long Huojin listened. In the end, he released a breath and said, "I don't like it. But I suppose it's the best idea so far."

Xue Guangli smiled. "I will make it up to you with one last condition," she said. After Xue Guangli told him, his eyes widened in surprise. He looked at her in disbelief, almost bursting with joy. "Are you sure?" he asked.

Xue Guangli nodded. She then sat on his lap, circling her arms around his shoulders. "I'm serious," she said.

Long Huojin then reached up to kiss her. Xue Guangli did not hesitate to meet it. She knew for a long time now that it was him. It had always been Long Huojin.

She knows that the w.a.n.g's are going to come after him, one day. But she will be prepared to face them with him. But for now, they would keep their relations.h.i.+p hidden. She had to pretend that she wasn't involved with Long Huojin, even if it hurt her because she loves him. She knows it now how much she loved him. She hadn't told him. But she will.

Xue Guangli kissed him and roamed her hands around his chest. She unb.u.t.toned half of his long-sleeve s.h.i.+rt, revealing his broad chest. His s.h.i.+rt slipped from his shoulder, showing the beginning of his serpent tattoo.

Long Huojin gripped her waist, straddled on him. She rode, teasing. He bit his lip, not trying to give in. He then gripped her thighs, sliding his hand higher until he found her heat. Xue Guangli let out a gasp, "We shouldn't...we're in the office."

He snaked his way beneath her underwear, not taking them off. He entered her very core, penetrating its depths with his fingers. She squirmed above him, bowing her head over his shoulder. "No one can come in," he whispered.

Xue Guangli kept breathing heavily in his ear as he watched her tremble above him. He couldn't control himself since she confessed to him in a way. He waited for so long. He wouldn't say too long, because it didn't feel that way. They were both twenty-six, and they would have many years to catch up on what they couldn't do before.

When she finished, Xue Guangli returned the favour. She dropped to her knees and gave him the two-handed twist and suck combination, a move that surely made him come faster than expected. But afterward, they helped each other clean up and fixed their dishevelled clothing. Long Huojin kissed her.

"I have to go back home," she said.

"I know," he responded.

It was a matter of time that they had to do everything to expose the w.a.n.g's.
