Yan Beicheng quickly poured her a gla.s.s of water, then he asked for a small bowl of ice from the waiter.

She felt like she was breathing in the air that he was exhaling when he talked. However, she could tell from his expression that he was genuinely concerned, so she did not know how to ask him to stay further away from her.

"There's a fishbone stuck inside my throat…" Lin Chu was mortified. She did not know it was possible to embarra.s.s herself even during a meal.

Yan Beicheng took an empty teacup and said, "Spit out the ice cube. Let me see."

"I'll drink some water to see if it'll flush the fishbone down," Lin Chu murmured. He was standing so close to her, but she did not dare to speak.

She wanted to move her chin to escape his grip, but that made his grip even tighter. The extra pressure he exerted did not cause her any pain, but it was enough to keep her still.

"Just listen to me for once," Yan Beicheng said softly. Her face was burned by the heat of his breath, and his tone made her feel uneasy. He was talking to her like she was a kid!
