"Yes, though it puts you into an advantageous position aiding you against the goblins who would lose the battle anyway." William smoked a bit as he took out a book explaining the dungeon's makeup.
"And you get a score at the end of the war based on how many goblins you killed personally?" Thinking over this it made sense for a dungeon that was this low leveled. Even if you didn't do anything the battle would progress until you won, but I didn't like this situation at all. It felt like kicking a dog when it was down so I didn't plan on following the script provided to me.
The two other tribes were actually very welcoming of the humans since they had no conflicts with humans in the past, only the goblins had once been culled and cut down due to their numbers. They were also the weakest of the three tribes, making up for it in numbers, though their strength would increase ma.s.sively once they turned into orcs. With their reproduction rate it was actually much harder for the goblins to evolve.

It was said there was a fourth faction, that of the dwarves but they were craftsmen and would repair your weapons as well as supply you with minor weapons should you lose your weapons. They were actually a neutral party however and would not help you subjugate the goblins no matter how you persuaded him.
With this I had made up my mind, I would help the goblins win this war for once as they've failed to win countless times during the past. I felt like if this was a game this would be a secret mission since this would be ten times harder than going the safer route. Though going off my gamer instincts rather than what was written down I knew the dungeon may just ignore the change in the storyline that was preset.
To gain the trust of the goblins though I would need to wait for them to be at their most vulnerable for me to get past their hatred for humans, basically at a point where they would make a deal with the devil himself to survive. A smile came to my lips thinking of myself as the devil incarnate on this floor and didn't mind indulging the dungeon with a little bit of roleplay.
Taking out of my bag several leathers that I had taken from the goblin's themselves I used creation magic on the leather making it into a stream-less cloak. If I was going to play a part in this play I felt like certain things were needed to be a dark and mysterious benefactor that would lead them to victory.
"William, I need you to act aloof, like you couldn't care less if enemies all arrived with swords to cut us down you could wipe them away with one swing of your hand." I stared at him seriously but he only looked at me strangely.
"I can do that though, anything on this floor I could kill with just one spell even if they came at us in waves of a hundred."
"Wait I thought you were a healer?" My eyes widened a bit, "Isn't that life magic?"
William nearly coughed up his tea in response and shook his head quickly, "Sometimes I forget you've been in a coma and lost out on some of the years of basic training. No, like Magic is the perfect healing magic but not many have that magic at their disposal so they figured out how to use other elements to make healing possible.
My main element is water, my secondary is fire. Water helps clean the wound, and helps with the healing process by stimulating your blood. Fire helps close the wounds and brings out more energy in the body.
This combination is considered a berserker wizard because I can actually stimulate your body to go into a b.l.o.o.d.y rage that amplifies your adrenaline, your blood flow making you last longer without getting exhausted and become stronger, faster and so on."
Thinking over what he just said I pointed out the flaw in his name, "That's only for combat, wouldn't you be a better love doctor?"
"Love doctor?"
"Increasing blood flow and stamina you would be able to enhance one's love life right?"
"I have to be within 30 feet of them to keep the buff going." William looked at me in shock, as if that was obvious, and threw his hands in the air, "What are kids taught these days, shouldn't you have the mindset of a 12 year old or something?"
I thought for a moment, "I'm sure some wouldn't mind the extra company, but I do see your point. Plus, if I had the mindset of a 12 year old I'm sure you wouldn't be following me."
Using my creation magic again a mask appeared over my face that looked like a smiling goblin made from wood. I didn't have any dyes to make any colors along the surface so I just used the gra.s.s to give it a green color across everything but the teeth.
Kneeling down I let the shadows cloak my presence as I went out to scout out the surrounding area. Much of the map was exactly how it was in the book even the distribution of troops, it looked as though the alchemists were going to attack soon so I followed their people as they would be the ones to attack first after getting the Kobolds to distract the guards. This would be a perfect opportunity to gather up kills but I planned on giving the goblins hope.
The village was simple and this was the forefront town that would get attacked marking the start of the war. Mainly made out of straw, and a few pieces of wood that was quite rare in this floor they were st.u.r.dy but highly flammable.
As I watched the ratfolk ran around and threw alchemical fire everywhere setting the village on fire. Their laughter was clear in the night overtop the screaming of the goblins who were being burnt alive in the buildings. Curses and crying was heard as the flames grew higher, but my eyes scanned for someone that had lost all hope.
Finally one goblin caught my eye as he fell to the ground with tears streaming down his face, the weapons he held were cast to his side. He looked hopeless, and in despair, this made my smile grow into a sinister grin.
"Hey goblin," Out of the shadows I slid behind the goblin, placing my hand upon his shoulder as my face aligned with his to watch the destruction. Just to make the goblin feel at home tentacles from Morningstar wrapped along the goblin making sure he didn't take his rage out on me.
"How would you like to make a deal with the devil himself?" As he looked at me I just stared at the fire letting the smell and the smoke flow around us, my manic grin softly glowing.
"Make your choice goblin, I am not a patient person and you are merely the first I offer my services to." I gripped my mask, sliding down my face to show off the goblin mask with the same crazed smile as my own.
