"I wanna go home. I wanna go home. I wanna go home.", she kept repeating and repeating that it felt like she was reciting a mantra.
She wasn't sure how long she had been saying it but instead of feeling better, she felt more homesick and panicked. She was left high up from the ground with no way to go down. The way the man jumped earlier suggested that he was a culltivator. But what is a cultivator? That's plain fantasy! She's living in the 21st century!
She then had an idea. She carefully stood up from the branch and looked down from where she was located. She was at a pretty high spot and chances of her dying when she falls was considered high. They said that in dreams, when you die, you wake up. Maybe this was just a dream and she would wake up once she die. She let go the of the hand that was holding on to the tree and her heart raced quickly. The body's instinct once it's in a dangerous situation kicked in and she felt her senses heightened. She heard the leaves rustling and smelled the leaves, the earthen soil and a rustic scent. Blood? She then remembered the cut she received from the sword earlier and touched her neck. She felt a bit of sting when she touched it. It felt so real. If this is a dream, why does it feel so real?
She was still thinking things over when the branch she was standing on suddenly swayed. Because she was not holding on to anything, she lost her balance and fell off. She was panicking when she remembered that she was trying to kill herself to wake up. So instead if screaming, she closed her eyes and waited for her body to land. But instead of hitting the ground, she fell onto something else. It was solid and it hurt her body upon impact.
"Do you really want to die?"
The voice caused her to instantly open her eyes. She saw a red mask. It didn't have any hole, aside from those for the eyes. On the place where the mouth was supposed to be, lies a white crystal. She looked at it and she felt a pull, as if it's asking to be touched. But before she could even touch the thing, it vanished. She didn't see the man's hand move to put the mask back into his ring. The sudden removal caused her to touch his lips instead. She felt a shock of current pa.s.s through and she immediately withdrew her hand.
She then regained her senses and realized that she was now in the man's arms. She felt embarra.s.sed and squirmed out of the man's hold. He didn't object and just let her slide off him. Once she regained her composure, she threw evil glares at him.
The man smirked. Amused by her actions. Judging by how she looks, she must be past the marriageable age of fifteen. Then why does she act like she's five?
She got annoyed by the way he looked at her, as if he's a.s.sessing a product to buy. She stomped her feet before complaining, "Where have you been?! You left me up on that tree! I was about to kill myself, you know?!".
The man was visibly stunned by her sudden outburst. He furrowed his brows and looked at her intently. He then waved his hand and a sword appeared out of nowhere. He then offered it to her in which she reluctantly took.
The sword was emitting a faint light of blue but when she touched it, it changed into gold. It's pommel was made of a red crystal, shaped in a form of a phoenix. It's hilt, carved in what looked like tiger claws. The guard looked like the sh.e.l.l of a tortoise. And on the blade is a dragon that looks ready to soar and devour.
She was looking at it carefully as if she was in a trance and she failed to notice that she had swiped her hand on to it and it bled onto the blade. The man immediately s.n.a.t.c.hed the weapon away from her hand and inspected the cut that it had made. She was still in a daze and was just staring off as if she's under a spell.
The man looked annoyed. He looked at her hand and then the sword before speaking, "Hey Key. Is this your way of protecting your so-called Mistress? By doing a binding contract? Do you want me to turn you into nothing but a piece of junk?", he threatened.
"Master, it's not me. I'm telling you. There's something calling out to me. I can't do anything about it. It's the Mistress... She... She's completing me.", the sword reasoned.
"Completing you?", he asked then stared at the girl. He didn't find anything odd about her, aside from the way she's dressed and her short hair.
"Master, it's Mistress' blood. Her blood seems to be that of a Creator.", the sword said hesitantly.
The man looked shocked and stared at her in disbelief. He took her hand that was still bleeding and gave it a small lick. The blood that touched his tongue burned. It seemed like the prophecy really was true. He gave a bitter smile. It seemed like the G.o.ds really won't leave him alone. It looked like he'll have to make a visit at the G.o.d's Realm and remind them of who he is, as it looks like they had forgotten.
At this moment, she awakened from whatever trance she was in and felt the pain in her right hand. She looked at it and saw the big cut on it. She looked up at him in disbelief then yelled, "What the f*ck is wrong with you?! I thought we're already good but you still want to kill me?! You psychopath!".
She then threw him a slap using her wounded hand and she saw him catch it with his own hand. She heard crackling sound from their connected hands and she tried to withdrew hers. But he gripped it tight and didn't let go. She could smell something burning but she wasn't sure if it's hers or his. She then felt a warm sensation pa.s.sing through her hand which felt comforting.
When he let go, she saw that her hand is completely healed. She then glanced at his and saw that it looked a bit different. She immediately grabbed his hand again and was shocked with what she saw. His hand was burned, especially the part where her previous wound connected to his palm. She then reached in to her pocket and took out a handkerchief that she always kept in cases like these. Since she's always writing, she's anemic, causing her nose to bleed.
He tried to take his hand but she hostaged it between her arms and chest. The man seemed startled and was still trying to take his hand but she just hugged it closer. The man eventually stopped and let her do what she wanted.
"How did you do that? You took my wound? But why does it look worse when it transferred to you? Is that some kind of a consequence for violating the natural order? Are you some kind of a healer?", she asked incredulously.
The man seemed surprise by her bombardment of questions. He looked as if he was thinking whether he should tell her the truth.
"Oh, is that some kind of a secret? Are you not allowed to tell? Alright. I won't ask anymore. But please don't do this for me ever again. I don't like others suffering for me.", she said with a heavy sigh.
"Its not me.", he finally said.
"Huh?", she asked.
"It's your blood. The blood of a Creator.", he answered.
Creator? Like a writer?
