All of a sudden, Dalton felt very nervous despite the calm look in his eye. This sort of game could go wrong a million different ways. Although it wouldn't be to the point of life or death, humiliation and a strong stain on their marriage in the eyes of others was very much possible.

As he was thinking of a way out, Ci-ci suddenly smiled. "I wonder if you esteemed guests wouldn't mind me adding a small caveat to this game? Not only will it make things faster, it'll even make it more entertaining."

A cold laughter came from Roman's table.

"I apologize for my straight-forward nature, but Roman very clearly introduced himself as the first brother and brother in-law to the groom and bride respectively. He's laid very painstaking plans as well, how could the rules change at the final moment for an unknown guest? Wouldn't that make a mess of the proceedings? Would you be able to bear such a stain?"

Among the four young men who followed, this one seemed to have a deep-seeded hatred for Ci-ci. Although he hadn't said anything until now, he wouldn't miss an opportunity laid out before him. As for why this hatred existed…

Ci-ci looked toward this young man. He had average features, but his eyes were sharp and deep. He was definitely a true heir unlike the frivolous Amancio who was still listless after Ci-ci's threat.

"Ah." Ci-ci chuckled.

To his side, a cold light flashed in Milana's eye, but she hid it well. Although this young man's response was reasonable and hid his hostility, Milana didn't like his words even a single bit. However, Ci-ci didn't seem too perturbed.

"Are my words incorrect?" The young man smiled lightly.

To the side, Roman remained quiet, even sitting down and allowing the exchange to occur as though there was nothing out of the ordinary. He wasn't a fan of the rules being changed either, but it would come off as petty if he was the one to bring it up. His long-time friend and ally, Aden Frizwauld, had stepped in at the perfect time.

"Incorrect?" Ci-ci smiled. "I wouldn't dare to use such strong language. My status is quite low, so I can't afford to use such offensive language."

Ci-ci's words were akin to a soft cus.h.i.+on filled with pins. It was harmless on the outside, but filled with traps.

In one fell swoop, he painted an image of him being an innocent while this Aden was the aggressor. It was a simple step back to throw his opponent off balance.

"It's more accurate to say that this is a difference of opinion." Ci-ci continued without noting the s.h.i.+ft in Aden's features. "To you, I am an unknown guest, however, to the groom, I am a good friend."

A meaningful smile played Ci-ci smile. In not so many words, he pointed toward his status clearly. It was as though he was saying: "If I'm an unknown guest, why is it that I sit here, while you must sit down there? I may not be his first brother, but is my position in his heart not higher than that of his brother?"

"That said," Ci-ci continued without allowing Aden room to rebut, "You may not know me, but how could I not know the lauded heir of the Frizwauld family? Ai," Ci-ci sighed, "We fought a long and hard battle all those months ago, but it seems you've forgotten me."

Aden's face darkened as those in the vicinity began to curiously wonder what Ci-ci was referring to. Aside from Aden himself, the only other who had their eyes light up in realization was Isabella who had personally gone through and studied each one of Ci-ci's cases.

"It's no problem." Ci-ci spoke magnanimously. "I don't mind introducing myself. h.e.l.lo everyone. My name is Lucius Grant. I'm a Junior a.s.sociate of Patterson and Gravelle and work alongside the bride and her father."

Lucius Grant?... Many began to rattle their brains around for just where they had heard this name before. But, Aden's face only grew darker.

"It's no matter." Ci-ci left the guests hanging without explaining. In fact, it gave the illusion that his demeanor was real. He really was humbling himself for the sake of maintaining cordiality and that only put Aden in a worse position. "My rule change is simple and will barely require any effort. If you have a reason to refuse, please make your feelings clear.

"I only want those who write you memories to include your names to the back of the card. In order to stop the bride and groom from cheating, we can randomly choose someone in the audience to read the card. How about it? This way, the process will be much cleaner and if there are any emergencies before the ceremony concludes, we will still have the ability to continue without a hitch."

Dalton's eyes brightened at Ci-ci's words. "An excellent suggestion!"

With the groom having spoken, who would dare to go against his words?

In just a few sentences, Ci-ci had crippled Roman's attempt once more, causing his face to blacken along with Aden's.

There were many ways this ceremony could have gone wrong.

For one, there was a possibility that many would simply write nothing on their cards. After all, who here truly had fond memories with Isabella? They might be able to write something about Dalton if they dug deep, but today was the first day that had even heard of an Isabella!

The second possibility was an extension of this. What if all of the memories were of Dalton and no one mentioned Isabella at all? That would be yet another blow that would blanket an overcast on the proceedings.

The third possibility was far more malicious. Roman could have long since pocketed the servicemen and women, thus allowing him to write seemingly innocent, but actually d.a.m.ning memories and ensuring that they would make it into the 20 envelops.

For example, what if someone wrote about a memory involving Dalton being in love with another girl? Such a memory might seem innocent, but it could tear a hole in the ambience and embarra.s.s Isabella and her family.

However, Ci-ci had crushed many of these possibilities. At the very least, even if one shamelessly used the third possibility, he could use the excuse that there was no name to toss it out. And, even if there was a name, then that person would bear the brunt of everyone's despise.

In addition, now that everyone had to attach their names to what they wrote, they'd rather embellish a fake memory to include Isabella than to become the one who ruined the atmosphere of such a happy occasion.

Ci-ci not only cornered Roman and Aden, he also cornered all nearly 300 guests.
