Beads of perspiration trailed down her forehead as she placed her hand above her eyes to block the incoming sunlight. Her lips curved downwards when she felt the heavy migraine exploding like a volcano erupting with loads of lava bursting out of its h.e.l.l hole.
'Ugh! What a great way to start my day with a stupid hangover! I have to go to work soon... I have to see him and her together... what luck. Sigh.. just five more minutes....' she thought to herself as she pulled the blankets over her head.
While rubbing her temples, she noticed a familiar cologne fragrance. 'Huh...? How come it smells like him? Am I still dreaming? I must be since my eyes are closed. Sigh... I guess I really need to wake up and get over him!'
Her fingers patted against her porcelain skin lightly before her eyelids reluctantly lifted up. She grunted when her eyes met the sunlight outside of the blanket as if someone had purposely tried to murder her sight by flas.h.i.+ng a flashlight into her eyes. Naturally, her instincts quickly took action and she squirmed back undercover, moving like a worm. Her eyebrows knitted together while she thought of endless excuses to give her boss about why she lived fifteen minutes away, yet she could still end up late for work.
'Oooo my stomach hurts... wait, I used this one before. Hmm... I got super drunk and crazy that I ended up playing the role of a clown last night at a strip club... wait, too fake... I...argh, forget it. I'll just get up...'
Just when her leg adjusted its position slightly, her toes knocked into a warm, hard, yet soft surface next to her. Swallowing her saliva loudly, her eyes wandered towards her right. Immediately, her face drained its colors as she saw six pack abs that obviously belonged to a man whom she had not figured out his ident.i.ty yet because she was still under the blankets.
As her breathing hastened, she slowly retreated from the unknown stranger, almost falling down from the edge of the king sized bed. She stumbled her way out of bed and found a clean towel to wrap around her body.
Her heart was racing so fast that she thought she was being thrown off a cliff to play bungee jump, 'Yin Susu, you got this.. it's alright... it's alright...just don't wake him up.. and see who he is...' She patted her chest to soothe her mixed emotions.
Gently, she pulled the blanket away from his face...
"nnn..." The man s.h.i.+fted sideways.
She reacted quickly as the man swung his arm towards her side of the bed, almost hitting her. "That cologne... and the..piercing on his ear... don't tell me it's Tian Yuo...but how?" Suddenly, the migraine that had subsided began to haunt her again as she tried to remember what happened the previous night.
Before she could remember what exactly happened that led to her and Tian Yuo naked on the same bed, Karen, Susu's step sister opened the door in a frantic manner. With a shocked expression and almost instantaneously tear filled eyes reaction, she choked on her words, "S..sis! Tian Yuo! How could the two of you do this to me?!! Tian Yuo, we just got engaged last night and you slept with Susu!"
The piercing agony shrilled in her voice as she wailed and repeated their names over and over made the situation worsen. Tian Yuo was awakened by her painful cries. He shook his head several times and squeezed his eyes tightly shut, trying to recall the blurred pieces of memories from the previous night.
He vaguely remembered a waiter saying that Susu wanted to congratulate him on his engagement with Karen, but couldn't bear the pain so she had the waiter bring him a gla.s.s of wine. Everything blacked out after chugging down the wine. 'd.a.m.n that witch! And I thought she would finally give up on me!'
"K...Karen.. it's not like that!" Susu tried to explain, but she didn't know what went wrong. Even she was confused herself as to why she was in the same bed as Tian Yuo and the things that happened last night.
Tian Yuo gritted his teeth and sharply glared at Susu after looking around the room, "You b.i.t.c.h! How dare you drug me and made such a ridiculous move? Did you think stooping this low would gain my attention?! Karen, it was her. It was Yin Susu who drugged me. You need to trust me."
Karen slammed the lamp on a nearby cabinet onto the floor, shattering it.
"Shut up! I don't want to hear anything anymore. I don't want to listen to any of your excuses! You two slept together and that already became a fact. You're no longer mine alone. I can't share a man with another woman, especially when she is my step sister! We're family!" Karen covered her tear stained face and rushed down the hall.
Tian Yuo maintained his position on the bed with his elbow on his thigh and knuckle rubbing his temple on either side of his face. The blanket covered his bottom half of the body, revealing his well toned torso. The sun highlighted his furrowed brows and messy bed head.
"Are you f.u.c.king done with staring at me? Everything went your way already! This went exactly the way you wished! Karen and I got engaged last night, and you had to come ruin us! Why? Just why do you have to be such a nuisance? You know, just because she is your step sister, it doesn't give you any rights to interfere with her happiness!" His tone intensified and pupils dilated as his gaze landed on Susu's trembling figure.
She tried to deny the accusations once again, but was cut off by his hurtful words, " I won't ever forgive you. You ruined my happiness, and I will return this thousands of folds. If anything happens to Karen, I won't forgive you. Have you not done enough harm to her? How could you be so blinded by jealousy? Huh?!!"
Her dried lips parted, but the words that she wished to spit out never got a chance to escape from her mouth. His large hands held her fragile neck tightly for the first few seconds before loosening its grip. He released his hand after noticing the blood stain on the bed from the corner of his eyes. 'Blood... so something did happen between us last night. To go this far.. Yin Susu..'
"I'm not taking responsibility for whatever happens, so you better grab yourself the morning after pills. If you get pregnant for whatever happened last night, that child will be a b.a.s.t.a.r.d." His cold gaze and blaming words sounded like thousands of needle p.r.i.c.ks stabbing her heart.
Tears ran down her rosy cheeks and the sniffles that followed were her true feelings of all the heavy burdens that weighed on her heart. She had done nothing wrong! Yet every single time it was somehow her fault. The last residue of energy gave out and her body slumped to the floor.
Her pitiful, raspy voice echoed the room, "Whether you believe it or not, it wasn't me. No matter how much I love you, I already know that you don't feel that way for me! I would never give my body to someone who doesn't love me! Karen drugged my drink. It was her who handed me that wine!"
"Watch your foul mouth. Keep your disgusting face out of my sight. I don't want to see you ever again." He had already gotten dressed and quickly dialed on his phone to look for Karen. He slammed the door shut on his way out, making a few rose petals to fall by the vase.
Her hand subconsciously rubbed her lower waist, "sss..." she hissed. A faint smile appeared on her pale face, "Hah.. silly me, why would I ever expect that he would take my side? I need to stop this hopeless dream." She wiped away the last drip of tears that escaped from her eyes before getting dressed.
When she lifted her arms to wear her crossbody bag, a ring fell out of her pocket. Her eyes were filled with sorrow as another sigh left her mouth, "It seems like he never took his promise seriously. Everything was just my wishful thoughts, yet my heart aches so much when I see him. I'm hopeless." She wrapped the ring in the center of her palm and walked out of the room.
