"Hold on," he said. Everyone's attention turned to the man whose voice paved a path for him to get to Lily. The young man walked at his own pace with his back straightened and hair styled slightly waved. His eyes were fixated on Lily the entire time. When he came close enough, he took a gla.s.s of wine from her hand and whispered, "Honey, you've prepared a drink for me. Let's make a toast like couples do for their weddings."
Lily raised her eyebrow, but didn't question the man's intention, "If that's what you wish for, darling. But it better be good." Their arms intertwined as the edge of their wine gla.s.s touched their own lips.
Karen's eyes were locked on the man's mysterious, yet alluring aura. Her mouth parted and her arms wished to be Lily's as she watched them do the newlyweds drinking toast. How she wished she could be next to such a good-looking man.
"A great quality wine with a beautiful lady. What would make this any more perfect? Ah, crus.h.i.+ng an enemy's dream." His smirk was provocative and very teasing to the audience's eye.
"Oh? The apple of my eye is quite suggestive. So tell me, now that we've drunk the two gla.s.ses of red wine, what else is there to avenge me?" Though her blood boiled from anger, she gave Lin Que the chance to explain himself. She knew his personality extremely well, though. Therefore, she wasn't the slightest worried that he would let Karen off easily for targeting her.
Lin Que took the two empty gla.s.ses and handed it to the waiter behind him, "Thanks." The waiter nodded and quickly exited the crowd. Lily had her arms crossed as she waited for him to take some action. Minutes pa.s.sed, and nothing was said or done. Karen was getting more and more hopeful that Lin Que would let her off without any harm.
Another minute had pa.s.sed and n.o.body said a word. Karen's eyes laid on the man hungrily as he stood in front of Lily in a fearless manner. While everyone would be intimidated by Lily's aura and att.i.tude, he remained strong in front of her. His sharp features and the aura that he had made him very irresistible to many. In this case, Karen's mind already flew to the land where the world evolves around her.
The longer the silence, the more Karen became sure that Lin Que was on her side. Although she didn't understand why he made his entrance by making the odd toast earlier, she focused on the fact that he didn't explain himself to Lily when he could have done it from the start.
'Could I have been this attractive? Even such a handsome, powerful man would fall for me? Even though I don't know who he is, but from how they made the toast, he must be the son of the Lin family! Of course! Why would the Lin family let a witch like her ruin their reputation? I'm in luck! I might be able to replace her as well!'
Karen smiled at the thought of herself being the mistress of the Lin family and having the whole economy under her hands to play with. Her wishful thinking was broken in the following minute as the audience chattered nonstop at the sight of the waiter coming back with a tray of wine gla.s.ses filled with thick yellow substances in it.
"Sir, I did as you instructed." The same waiter from before came back and respectfully bowed with the tray in his hand to Lin Que and Lily's direction. "Great." Lin Que held Lily's hands and said, "Honey, didn't I tell you that my heart would ache if you personally handle rats on your own? Remember? The last time you slapped one and came to me to tell me about it? I applied the ointment on these soft palms. I'm not letting you do the hard work."
His warm gaze instantly darkened; emitting a dangerous, murderous aura. He turned around and faced Karen's greed filled expression with disgust written on his face. "So it was you who dared aimed for our family's Lily. Did you expect yourself to get out of here all tidy like how you walked in? Heh."
His hand grabbed one of the gla.s.ses from the tray, "Do you know what this is?" Karen's face turned pale and the sweet thoughts in her mind turned gruesome. She shook her head and s.h.i.+vered when her eyes met his. She felt like she was trapped in a different dimension where he was a tyrant and she was the peasant. His words were commands and she had no way of escaping.
He smiled, "This is lemongra.s.s and mustard mixed together. For those who don't know this, lemongra.s.s and mustard stains are the worst nightmares since it is hardest to get out of clothes. Even though your dress tonight is ugly enough, the contrast of colors are too bright for human eyes. Let's adjust it for you, shall we?"
His hands tilted forty-five degrees and slowly watched the dark yellow mixture drip out of the gla.s.s and onto her dress. The sauce was warm, so it wouldn't burn her skin even if it lands on her skin, but it will still stain it yellow and leave a lingering scent to it. Karen snapped out of her thoughts when she felt the warm gooey sauce weigh down on her dress, sliding onto her lap.
"Gahhh!!!!!" She wiped the sauce off her lap and shrieked as she tried standing up. When Lin Que saw her reaction, he signaled the waiter to pour everything on her at once. Lin Que covered Lily and stepped backwards to make sure she wouldn't get a single stain on her body. The crowd saw the nasty scene coming up, so they moved away to a distance where they wouldn't get dirty.
A few minutes ago, Chen Mu silently made his way to Susu after hearing the commotion. When he saw the waiter's actions, he blocked Susu from the sauce as well.
"Whoops, looks like the waiter slipped." Lin Que mocked as he fixed Lily's hair and straightened the wrinkles on her dress. After the waiter had finished his task, he bowed and walked away once again. The crowd looked at the mess on Karen and the carpet, "She chose the wrong enemy. Everyone knows that the Lin's doted a lot of Lily Jiang even though she didn't marry Lin Que yet. Tsk, tsk, this girl was seeking death to begin with."
Lin Que took his credit card out and handed it to one of the waiters, "Put the charges for this event and the clean up fees on my tab. As an apology for causing a ruckus, I will compensate for everything that has been used, dirtied, and broken tonight. I hope everyone will continue enjoying themselves and avoid this area until it is cleaned up. To show our support for our friend's new restaurant, the Lin family will buy the restaurant's VIP coupons for everyone who is present."
After that, he faced Lily once again and asked, "Satisfied with the results? Honey~"
"Mhmm, that is much better than my red wine. You never let me down hahahaha." She kissed him on the cheeks.
While Lin que and Lily had their moment, Chen Mu wrapped his arms around Susu's waist, "Let's give them some couple time. The dance is starting soon."
"D..dance?" She gulped.
"Uh huh~" He guided her to the center of the room as a familiar tune started to play in the background. Soon, other couples began to get in place for the dance.
Meanwhile, bitterness was all Karen showed on her face as she looked at her soaked and ruined looking outfit. Tian Yuo saw her from a distance, but couldn't bring himself to help her up because she was too dirty. Instead, his focus was on the girl who was in Chen Mu's arms. His arms lifted slightly as if he wished that she was in his embrace.
