Friday I never went to school and around 10 am I left mama Mei's house.

I walked to the clinic thinking about my life and how it would have been if my parents never agreed to the marriage.

I arrived at the clinic and sat inside the room where the abortion was going to be done.

I was ready and undressed and all, waiting for the doctor.

After an hour of waiting a man came into the room and he looked at me.

He introduced himself as the doctor that would be doing the removal for me.

I stared at him and couldn't think of a response so I kept silent.

He started explaining the process and told me that I'd be put to sleep and wouldn't feel any pain at all.

The nurses came in and got the equipment ready and asked me to lay down on the bed.

I looked around the room at the people and sighed.

He told the other nurses to leave then sat down on the bed next to me and we spoke.

"Why the sudden change?"

I looked at him and he was no more smiling.

Me: "Then why?"

"Why I do it? Well because I used to be a gynaecologist but then I lost my pa.s.sion for bringing a life into this world."

Me: "What happened?"

"I lost my pa.s.sion because my clients went from being married woman to teenage girls."

Me: "Then why are you here? You know you are practically killing babies' instead of bringing them into the world."

He looked at me and started smiling again.

"My wife told me about you."

Me: "Your wife?"

"Mn, the lady that owns this clinic."

I thought for a moment and remember the gynaecologist that I had been seeing and remembered.

"She asked me to come here today and pretend to be the doctor in charge of you, she said that you might change your mind again."

Me: "What if I didn't change my mind?"

"Someone else would have taken care of you, while you were asleep."

Me: "Why did your wife speak about me to you?"

"She's worried about you."

I nodded my head and stayed silent, the doctor also kept silent and we sat in the room doing nothing.

After about two hours I told him I'm done thinking of my life and I'm ready to face what's coming.

I got dressed and walked out when I came around the corner, Yos.h.i.+no, his father and stepmother, Erina and her parents along with their group of friends were there.

Kae was included in this group.

The doctor was standing beside me and so were the nurses from before.

The doctor greeted me with a smile then walked off.

On the other side of the room, Yos.h.i.+no and the others had marvellous expressions on their faces.

The reason why?

A nurse told them that the reason why their appointment was delayed because of a girl having an abortion with both doctors.

Yes both doctors were with me but that was before and not after, his wife was hiding in the room behind a wall, listening to her husband and I.

They all looked at me and after a moment Yos.h.i.+no's father walked up to me, grabbed me by my arm and dragged me out of the clinic.

The lady that owned the clinic walked out as this was happening and called Yos.h.i.+no's father to stop.

He looked at her with an angry expression and told her this had nothing to do with her.

He pushed me into his car and got into the back seat and the driver drove us home.

At the house, I was reprimanded by him.

He threw me onto a chair in the lounge and started yelling.

"What the h.e.l.l were you thinking? If you were pregnant why didn't you say anything and just went for an abortion."

I looked at him and kept my mouth shut; it was my first time seeing him like this.

"Answer me, don't glare at me!"

I still kept silent.

He grew frustrated and smacked hard.

There are no words to describe how much pain I was in.

The housekeeper ran to my side and helped me up, she started arguing with Yos.h.i.+no's father too and she told him all the s.h.i.+t Yos.h.i.+no did to me and how he stopped taking care of me.

As she was saying all this the tears started falling from my eyes and I felt so wronged.

I understand why my father was so angry, he saw me as his own daughter and was angry that I never said anything.

Looking back at all this I understand all the troubles I gave them and how my actions made my father angry but all of them never stopped to consider my feelings.

As the housekeeper and my father were arguing, cars pulled up to the house and it was all the people we left behind at the clinic.

They heard all that was being said and Yos.h.i.+no's stepmother stormed into the house and slapped the housekeeper, after that she looked at me and slapped me also.

Yos.h.i.+no's father looked at his wife and pulled her to one side; this was the first time he ever stopped this woman from doing anything.

He told her to calm down and stay out of this and told the housekeeper to continue and she did.

I stood beside her and started zoning out.

My head started pounding on the side where I was. .h.i.t with the toilet seat.

It started paining and my vision started blurring.

The next thing I knew was that I was waking up in the room I shared with Yos.h.i.+no.

After I opened my eyes I sat up on the bed and he was laying next to me asleep holding onto my hand.

I looked at the time and it was midnight.

I pulled my hand away and got out of bed.

I opened the cupboard and put on warm clothes and boots.

I looked back at the person sleeping on the bed and my head started pounding again.

I walked out the front door and went to mama Mei's house.

When I arrived the lights were still on and she immediately opened the door after I knocked on it.

When she saw my face, a pained expression appeared on her face and she opened the gate and let me in.

She pulled me into her embrace and hugged me, after a while, she pulled away, held my face and asked: "Min Hee, did you really go through with the abortion?"

I shook my head and started crying in her arms.

She rocked me to sleep that night and I could hear her repeatedly saying "Thank you, Lord".
