Clyde jerked awake after a dreamless slumber . A system prompt filled the young man's mind before the first line of complaint could flow from his mouth .

The book leapt out of the inventory and into his arms . Clyde sat up and focused on it . Like the prior books, it s.h.i.+mmered, but instead of golden sparkles, a pillar of sky-blue light struck the young man . He not only knew but felt as if he transcended . For just a moment, he was connected with nature, spirits, energy and even the universe . Power coursed through his veins, shaping his DNA, his magic, spirit energy, enhancing his life force . He rose more than a foot into the air, electricity pulsing around, eyes s.h.i.+ning like lamps .

Then just as quickly as the event happened, it stopped . Ashes of the book floated off into nothingness . Prompts filled his mind's vision as Clyde fell back to the bed . The first was his stat page .

Clyde took a moment to process everything . His new skills, a FORM, the trust bond . Even next to his name was Mystic . Did this book truly change his being, deeper than what he felt .

His senses felt different . He could sense everything, including the spiritual energy of the person sleeping underneath his blankets, next to him .

That made him flinch . He didn't drink anything, and everyone left around seven . Who or what…He thought he'd panic, but a strange calm took over . This didn't mean he couldn't panic, enough fear could take any man, but…this, whatever it was wouldn't make him so much as flinch .

He pulled back the blankets to see…Neko sleeping soundly, dressed in a tank top and panties . She opened her eyes, smiling at him .

"Nya . " She licked her lips, invoking the rise of a dormant horn .

"Neko, a nice surprise, but didn't you go back to your homeland?" Clyde said .

"Yep, then I came back," she said, sitting up . "Nya, you know why I'm here . Don't make me spell it for you . A cat in heat spares no patience . "

She pounced Clyde, beginning an a.s.sault of kisses, while ma.s.saging his horn . Clyde decided the meeting with Selkie could wait .

Neko barely allowed him to breathe . Her panties were soaked—the edge of his leg felt as if it was dipped slightly into a lake .

Suddenly, Neko's tail pulled off his clothes so fast, he barely had time to realize his nakedness . She joined him, their clothes scattered about the room .

Clyde almost laughed as he let the thought of choosing s.e.x over his "destiny" slip into his mind . What's that, getting back to your own dimension, He thought . No, let's play the game of bed wrestle instead .

Clyde almost considered it and felt a fool for not going again, but his long list of objectives today needed to be addressed . The meeting, Clare, dojo and crafting before the night's grind . If he expected to stand a chance against the demon lord, his eyes, or even Melody, he couldn't toss aside his training . A trip to the gra.s.slands for the first time didn't sound like a bad idea . After being forced to buy an expensive magical printer, it was time to put the map to use . As if agreeing with him, a prompt revealed itself .

He accepted . Before he closed out the prompt, another one appeared right in front of it .

Clyde gave the h.o.r.n.y beast kin a soft skeptical look, barely hiding the hint of a smile . She was funny and carried on a lightheartedness he wished was allowed to have .

"Sure, but try not to tempt me," Clyde said . "Selkie's an ent.i.ty . I'd rather not make her wait . Especially since she has answers I need . "

"You know, you could ask me," Neko said . "Did that not occur to you?"

"It did, but the ent.i.ty knows otherworldly things," Clyde said . He couldn't forget her ridiculous stats . Twenty thousand percent for both HP and MP…the impossibilities .

Neko shrugged .

"Are you sure about that?" She stood up and licked Clyde's cheek slowly, ma.s.saging his horn . The erection punched back into existence . Neko grinned .

"Let's shower," Clyde said . "Maybe continue this later . Right now, I've got s.h.i.+t to do . "

Neko saw the determination in his eyes then reluctantly pull away, but not before kissing him .

"Don't think this is over," she said then smiled . "My sister's got duty for two more days . I'm free to come and go . "

Clyde shrugged, unperturbed . He just knew she was going to be more trouble than she led on .
